- Since RSD was not pushed back a day because of my move, something i am still pretty miffed about, I went out Sunday to visit stores in the Denver area. Below is what i found.
For those that desire travel videos then come along for a ride through the midwest and the greatest tourist stops along I 80. Also, how do you travel a couple of days with a cat?

The journey never seems to end. Wishing you the very best in your new state of mind Steve ❤️🔥
Thanks Mazzy. Long strange journey but the truck comes today so we start unloading. In a couple years I hope to buy a house and then we can do it all over again
So glad to hear Kat made it OK to Denver Steve, bet that was such a strange journey for him..Aww bless.
When we moved my wifes' fathers' cat from Stoke about 60 miles to Stratford, she didn't like it one bit and hid for 2 days..she was OK though once settled
Gandalf is one of those albums I expected to Love on first listen..think I need to revisit, it's been a while..lovely looking sleeve design.
Rob, good point on cats hiding. That is what happened. And then he met Aiden which really freaked him out lol. He is fairly comfortable at my sons house but we now move into our new house so he can be freaked out again lol
yay! trains! i could spend an hour or so watching the yard.
Yeah, it was so much fun except my wife had no interest in it lol. A little further down you could watch them at the hump as they sorted the cars. I was blown away by all the engines Bruce
Wow, what a road trip! I'm so pleased that Kat made it ok. Cheers Mike
Kat was stressed, today we move to the new house, time for him to get stressed all over again lol
Awesome adventure video. Glad Kat survived the trip. That Lincoln hwy museum looks cool
Will, I love taking you on my adventures. Hopefully I will have some great Colorado trips to share this summer
Great RSD finds. Enjoyed seeing the road trip and the great stops.
Thanks Ken, I love travel so I do like to add a little travel footage to the video. I’m glad you enjoyed it
The one I wanted was The Bottle Rockets- The Brooklyn Side. I have wanted that one since it came out many years ago. First time on vinyl too with extra songs.
Good to hear you all made it safe to your new location. Kat is looking good. I’m looking forward to the Sunday Show from the new spot soon.
We moved about four years ago.
Hope you find the same joy we found in the change of life. Take Care and God Bless You and Your Family. Thanks!
I had done Bottle Rockets in the first collection, great rock n roll band. The truck arrives today so the fun begins, it has been so stressful I’m too old for this lol
Glad you made it Kat....
He has been a real pain Paula, pretty freaked out
Thanks for the road trip Steve. New adventures start of scoping out all the record shops in the Denver area eh!
I hope so soon, I have just been so busy with work and the move. Definitely new adventures
Steve, Lived in Iowa in the !970s. I-80 was a long boring drive then looks like there is more to see today. Glad you made it to your new home. Have a good week.
Mike, as a child in the 60s we lived in Iowa for 6 years. I remember them building I 80, it was so amazing You really have to love farm land to take my journey haha
Nice you found that Dean & Britta album. My store didn't have it. Knew you would get it. Great video as always. Take care, welcome to the West!
Dean and Britta is so good Mike. And think you and me are the only people that appreciate them. It is our secret band haha
Love the video Steve! Glad Kat made it ok. Looks like you still got some great stuff from RSD the day after. I went to RSD the day of and it was a madhouse.
Luckily Todd I did find what I wanted with a whole lot less people lol
Glad to hear Kat made it safe! Nice RSD pick ups!👍🎼🎧
Drew, the world traveler had time to watch my video! You and your wife have been everywhere. Did you win the lotto? I have been enjoying your photos on FB. Enjoy this stuff while your young, we did
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 lol! No lotto. I wish. We just save our money…or spend it? I guess you can look at it both ways. Trying to get the most out of life while I’m here.
Thank you for the trip, and showing your RSD finds 😊 Hope all is and goes well Steve 🐈
The truck arrives today Morten and the unpacking begins. So much work and stress
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Hope it passes painless and what feels like swiftly! 😊
I wish I had found a copy of the Gandalf record. Bill would have loved that release but probably already had the original ❤️ What an exciting journey. The things we do for our children and in your case, grandchildren. Kat looks so peaceful. Take care.
Melinda, this has been stressful with a new job that is taking up a ton of time and doing everything else. The truck arrives today so I hope things will settle down soon. I am utterly exhausted
Glad you guys made it safely with Kat! When I was a kid we moved all the way from WA to NC with 2 cats so I feel you pain there.
Holy smokes Kendall, a trip across the US with 2 cats, I feel for you. Taking him out of the carrier quieted him down but he did not enjoy going out at the rest stops. He was freaked out
Looks like that truck stop had everything EXCEPT records Steve 😮. So glad Kat made it in one piece and he eventually settles down. A museum over the highway? Only in America. Epic journey, now things might settle down a bit for you and Patty. Thanks for the footage. Cheers.
Jack the truck stop did have CDs, to bad most new cars have no CD players lol. That museum was pretty darn amazing but I liked the trains better!
Edutaiment is great It was one of the first rap CD's I purchased. I've traveled across this beautiful country a few times. Some states just come up "flat". You saved the best for last. I can't get over all of those locomotives. Now you can rest; the new chapter begins.
lol some states come up flat. NE is actually very hilly except along with the Platte River where I 80 goes. I knew you would appreciate the train yards. I would have loved to have spent some time there but alas Patty did not have the same enthusiasm Mark
Nice RSD pickups. I skipped it but may try to get to the store to see what's left later this week. I love the Lost In Translation soundtrack too. I have the CD but was on the fence for the two record set. I was surprised how flat the landscape was in your Colorado footage. I guess I envisioned mountains everywhere in the state. That must've been a grueling drive but breaking it up with your museum stops and Nebraska visit I'm sure helped. Kat is a trooper. I hope he likes his new home. Enjoy setting up your new record room and listening to your records again!
Eastern Colorado is rolling hills but it is barren, even trees barely exist, lots of tumble weeds. The mountains start just west of Denver They dominate the skyline to the west, beautiful. It has been stressful and I am totally out of sync but hope to get back into a routine
Steve, glad you got the albums that you were looking for! That Gandalf is very limited and very cool! I haven’t opened my Lost in Translation yet. I got a couple that I still need to open and play. Dearborn Music had huge deals on the RSD records on Saturday. I saw a few at other shops yesterday, and couldn’t believe the prices. I guess it paid for me to wait in the cold weather. Congratulations on getting Kat across the country! Looking forward to when you move to your final place and seeing the music room!
The truck comes today Michael, now where does it all go? I’m glad you liked Lost in Translation. I found it to be a beautiful album that I can play again and again. Something to crank up and relax.
Hi Unk. Good to hear that the move went well. I almost bought that KRS-1 album for my brother, but opted for De La Soul instead. Thanks for the tour across part of the mid-west... looked like a good time. Cheers!
Lucky for us Nephew Kat settled into a routine in the car, lay by Patty’s feet and sleep! Thank god. Unpacking the record room now Chris.
Every day is RSD in my house. I buy way to my records. I did not make it out but sometimes if I want something I get it online or pay extra. Great pickups. Lost in translation good soundtrack, and Gandalf very cool vinyl! Like them. Tell Cat 😺 hi! Cheers Gordo.
Kat does say meow Flash. I have been trying to cut back on albums with all the other things happening especially paying for the move. When we sell our house that will get the savings built back up some
Poor Kat. Good finds!
Yeah, Kat has been really stressed and my wife has had altitude sickness Lots of stress going on.
I like that the world's largest truck stop is a BP. I have trouble finding them around my house. The Archways Museum was a nice stop. Crossing the Rocky Mountains seemed like a big deal when I was young. We lived in Bountiful, Utah (near Salt Lake City).
Thanks, Chris
Chris when I was young we took a lot of vacations to the Rockies. I loved it there and still do. If it wasn’t for the prices I would love this place. It is nice to be by family though
Great RSD, not the usual fare, nice buys. For some reason I like that Lost in Translation cover 😂 l'm so glad l'm not moving. What a necessary evil. I'm surprised you're doing videos with so much work to do.
Mike, I need to do the videos for my own sanity. These were all recorded, at least most of it before I headed west. This Sunday is my first almost live video. I am exhausted Mike
Dug seeing the old cars in the museum.
I love old cars Dave. I have gone to a lot of car museums. Don’t know much about the engine, I just see the car as art
Hi Steve, Pleased Kat has made it OK, poor soul wouldn't have had a clue what was going on, bless him! For us in the UK it's hard to get our heads around how big the USA is. Full of admiration for what you are doing. Loved the escalator into the wagon - great touch for the entrance. I had to do RSD online, but managed to pick up Parliament and the Talking Heads live album. Wasn't going to bother as I have half of it already, but decided to buy after reading some reviews and yes it's sonically a big improvement. Actually, I think Road to Nowhere would have been a canny choice for your closing music on the video.....😊. Take care, Cliff.
Cliff, the main reason I show a lot of scenery or where I live is for all the people not from the US. I love travel and I love when people show me where they live or the scenery. I did get a copy of the Parliament but the Talking Heads is a tough find
Good to see (and hear), that Kat made it to Denver too. ❤
The world's biggest truck stop is bound to be in the US. But the world's biggest train station being located in the US is a surprise, as you guys have next to no option for public transportation by train. 😂
We have so few passenger train lines, just the largest freight yards. I recently saw a map showing the passenger lines in the US vs Europe. US had just a few lines while Europe was blacked out with rail lines. We are obsessed with cars but also we are so spread out. Thanks for coming along for the ride Jacob
This video has made me focus on what we really need in life……I need me some grass flip flops before I shuffle off this mortal coil 😂 Kat was / is spectacular. How well behaved for such an arduous trip ❤ and let me tell you I’ve been to Lincoln Nebraska several times…..oh yes I’ve lived a life as well young man 😁 Best of luck with the new adventure Steve and btw some great RSD pick ups especially Gandalf. Mike wannabe Steve
Mike, you have been to Lincoln! We talked about retiring there until Erik bribed us to go to CO. Grass Flip Flops will no doubt be all the rage. Get your early Mike and be ahead to the fashion trend. I’m pretty sure this is a Steve thing! I was happy with RSD and I did t spend a years salary lol
I hate moving!! Glad you got Gandalf great album.
Lucille is has been 18 years since we last moved. This has been stressful and exhausting but we are almost done
Hey Steve! Glad the move went well
I went out late to RSD mainly to see what new arrivals were in the used section but I did pick up the live Television album
Also saw Gandalf but I already have a copy
Take care Brian ☮️
That Television did sound interesting Brian. With the move I was trying to behave , I did pretty good for me lol.
Glad you made the trip with no big issues! Traveling with a cat in the car isn’t easy I know from experience with a kitten We traveled with Wasn’t easy!!
Yeah cats tend to freak out Dave. A dog just needs to put their head out the window We have been staying at different houses which has also freaked him out
Fairly good weather for traveling, looked like some snow still in Colorado. Be well.
When we got close to Denver the fog became so thick Dave. My wife wouldn’t let me drive and film, weird lol. We couldn’t see a sign, thank god for GPS
I think your wife was smart, good woman there Steve.
Hi Steve - I did Georgia to New Mexico drive with two cats ! One slept & one enjoyed the sights. I also picked up Lost In Translation an excellent soundtrack & The Wall Of Voodoo Index Masters EP was over $40 💵 ! I like the southwest & am sure you will as well.
Wow David, an EP for $40, that is ridiculous but I would have been tempted lol. Kat has adjusted to
My son’s place but not to Aiden haha. Truck arrives today
I agree with you, Steve! Whoever decided that was lemongrass must have been smoking grass! I have a huge lemongrass plant in my backyard and there’s not one part of it that resembles that vinyl. The only rap I have is Tupac and Snoop Dogg. They don’t get much play but I dig em. We love a good truck stop! We hit a bunch a great one on our trips to New Mexico on highway 40. Looks like you have a boatload of work ahead of you. Kudos for keeping the cameras rolling.
Steve, I watch a lot of travel videos so I like to add in some clips whenever I can. I like rap from the late 80s to early 90s but then I moved on from it. I have always been a fan of KRS One. Just trying to get some street cred Steve
Coffee and Steve this morning what a treat. Nice show. I missed the Gandalf not happy abt it. Maybe it will be released. Take care art
Art, Gandalf is going to be released, this was just a first. You will still be able to get it.
That’s what I’ve been told. I’ve been streaming it. How’s the weather out there. It’s been a beautiful spring here in Mtns. Take care Steve.
Furry Mike Goes West is a great title for a western Mike. I did RSD the day after too. I got Kristin Hersh, Schooly D, Amboy Dukes (Boo to Ted Nugent!), Nancy Sinatra, Parliament, The Beat & maybe something else. The only green lemon I've seen in my life Mike was a lime. True story. I know of the Mighty Lemons Drops but haven't checked 'em out yet. You got some interesting stuff that I wouldn't have thought to get. World's Largest Truck Stop!! It's now on the bucket list Mike. Furry Mike had the Iowa leg of the trip worked out. Nebraska's just like Bruce Springsteen sang about. I'm really learning about my inner world from these new travel style videos Mike. It's like the zen like state that slow tv puts you in. Cheers...Mike
Mike, I do love to travel so I might was well share it and it freaks Mr’s Mike out as I film as I drive, kind of a bonus. I’m not sure if I need to see anything else after going to the world’s largest truck stop. Not sure if anything could really top that for me Mike. I thought about Machu Pichu but would they have sandals with fake grass on them? I bet not, would t that be disappointing
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Mike you definitely have to come over here if you like big things. We have the big prawn, the big pineapple, the big cod, the big banana, the big koala, the big mango, the big lobster, the big Ned Kelly, the big potato & my personal favourite the big bench. If you want big Mike we got it 👍
I Bet you could fit at least two and possibly three of those "world's largest truckstop" inside your average Bu-cees, sir...heh heh....Kat looks nice and content in the car, that's good. Looks like you had a fairly mundane travel time, which is good. We did mostly that same route when we moved back from Ohio to Washington in 1974, except we cut up through Wyoming and Idaho instead of going through to Colorado...it's just as flat and boring as I remember it, LOL...looks like your new place is coming together, too. Looking forward to your set up video for the record room, whenever that hits!
They opened a Bucees in CO. Someday we will take a journey to it. Funny that a gas station becomes a tourist destination haha. Kat was quiet in the car once we let him roam free, he was still freaked out when taken out of the car. Not a fan of trucks lol
Very nice pickups! I was on the fence about the Gandalf release, but since it was a "first" I let it slide in favor of the others I snatched. Hopefully that won't be a decision I regret!
Good decision on Gandalf Dave. I didn’t have a lot I felt I had to have but just ew I would enjoy that album. It was nice to get my top picks.
I hope Kat has adapted to the new environment and after that traumatic journey. Good to see the first records have been purchased! I’ll skip on the grass flip flops...
What, no grass flops? It’s the newest fashion trend or so I have been told. Kat has not adjusted to Aiden lol. He runs in terror. Truck arrives today and the unpacking begins So much work
Oddly I have never been to the arch museum or the UP train yard either. Colorado is barren until you get close to the mountains.
My wife was shocked how barren CO was. I saw a lot of photography opportunities in that landscape. I figured I should take in a few sites just for the fun of it, trying to be a good tourist lol
Not too shabby for hitting RSD after the madness. Good to see Kat in the new domicile. I bet you'll be happy not to see a packing box anywhere near you 🙂
The truck arrives today Chance. Not sure where it is all going to go. I only want to set up my record room, forget the rest lol
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 spoken like a legit record collector!
Love the Mighty Lemon Drops. Be sure to check out their albums Laughter and World Without End. Very underated band.
Thank you for the recommendation, I will do that. I really enjoyed this RSD album, my kind of group
I first saw Gandalf record about 15 years ago. I knew nothing about it, but the sleeve looked fascinating. Only last year i learned that it's a psych masterpiece. Still need to hear it, but i'll take my time with it. Didn't you have harness for Kat for the trip? I wouldn't have let my cat(s) outside the car without one.
There was plenty of interesting sights to see on the road, but the most interesting was more Nebraska. Like loads.....like....too much. I wouldn't know where to begin...so i won't.
Pasi
Pasi, you are a traveler so you know the excitement of a road trip and seeing new things. I love travel which I why I try to out that in my videos. We do not have a cat harness, pretty sure that would have freaked him out lol. The Gandalf was very good Pasi, it is being reissued again but who knows is Finland will get it
I had a cat named Todd who loved to ride in the car. We never traveled with him far just about town. .. I did not get a copy of Gandalf, my store didn't get any of them
We have always put our cat in a carrier Rodd and he just meows so loud. I was dreading this journey but after an hour I let him out and he kept quiet. He was totally stressed
Steve, I love a good road trip. Definitely cool to see what you picked up for RSD. Lol largest truck stop. I ended up not stopping when I went by. Is Buccees going to build one? Theirs typically aren’t truck driver friendly. I’ve only been to Omaha once when I was in the military. I’ll have to ask my uncle if he’s ever been to that train yard. He’s big into trains and mainly Trolly cars. Cool footage. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
A Bucees just opened in CO. It has become like a tourist destination. I will make it there and give you my assesment of it eventually, part of my travel with Steve series lol. I love trains Zonkman so I was in heaven, not Patty lol
The bit about Kat was really the only important part of this video....I don't do RSD but I admit the Lost in Translation piqued my interest. But it looked like most of the additional stuff was by the guy who did the score. Does this really add much? At any rate, I'm glad to see you (finally) settled in your new home. I'm glad you had a happy, if belated RSD. Looking forward to seeing the new listening room. Have a good week!
My new record room is so chaotic, trying to figure out how to start. Kat did well when we let him out of his carrier. He has been freaking out staying at the different places. Tonight he comes to his new home Joe
Yes Nebraska!!!! In some point I was thinking to go to record day store. BUT I end up visit flea market. I found MIsfits album but didn't get. Next day I went there, IT wasn't there. :(
Be careful when buying Gandalf. You might get Finnish metal band. ;)
mr: FInglish (Bäd English Recs)
Mr Finglish, you know the rules of record collecting, never leave an album behind because it won’t be there when you come back I think I need to buy a Finnish Metal Band just so I can pronounce it.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 I know that rule but... This might stupid, but my latest found has been this "It is always great that you leave something to shop that would be great to get now or someday. You can't get everything." BUT MISFITS!!
Aww poor puddy tat. I told you to run away up to my place Kat. I wouldn't move you cross country like your old man did. The offers still open if you don't like the altitude little buddy.....
I told Kat to head your way but he wanted to make our life more annoying. He really freaked out when he met Aiden lol
RSD was a bust for me. That was quite the trip!
Luckily I got what I wanted. Looked like I was traveling in Saskatchewan didn’t it? Yes I have visited the providence , such a world traveler
I picked up the ramones and punk 45 but really wanted the Gandalf but they didn’t have it, and now the RSD version is up to like 70 bucks on Discogs! Too much for me! Maybe I’ll try to hunt down a more affordable bootleg
Good news Gandolf was a first release. It will be coming back out so don’t drop a lot of money on it. The Punk 45 would have been great. I was able to just snag a Wall of Voodoo so I’m pumped with that. I figured you would have grabbed the Joe Strummer album?
I’m not really familiar with his solo stuff and didn’t want to blind buy something that pricey, I think at the store I went to it was 45 dollars, glad to hear about the Gandalf thanks!
Kat doesn't sounds happy.
I missed out on the Talking Heads which is the one I wanted most. I didn't go out until Sunday so it's my fault.
Kevin, it sounds like you would have had to been one of the first in the store to get the Talking Heads album. It was very popular
You might be the reason the lost in translation record is scuffed . There’s a clear bad noise as you pull that record out. And you’re a bit heavy handed putting it in . Not acriticism just trying to help you learn a better way .
Having bought many records on RSD I find it disappointing that the records are packaged in either paper or worse directly into cardboard inner sleeves .
Say what we want about mofi but their inner sleeves protect records
Some great pickups and nice journey! Cool places along the road, everything is so big over there :) Cheers
Janne, landscapes go on for 100s of miles. It was almost a 20 hour drive and that was just through 5 states
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Ohh, 20 hrs of drive is crazy. Well I hope you will find the new place better than the old. Cheers

I would agree with the packaging of RSD releases. As much as they charge they could be packaged better. It a day for the record collector where they charge more money. I try to be careful taking out records but at times especially when filming, let’s just say stuff happens lol. Thanks for pointing that out Anthony
