Gorgeous job and great information. Love your videos Gabriel, definitely have a new subscriber here. For anti-static, the Onechoice SX103 is a cleaner and anti-static agent. I've sprayed inside of bumpers, over paper areas and in wheel houses and it works pretty well.
prep is fuckinging crazy important i like to wash the car with sunlight dish washing soap and cut grey scotchpad on valcroe sander then use soap water with sander takes away all oils no fish eyes no dirt
Beautiful job Gabriel, I'd love to get jobs half as clean as you do, I get most cars prepped ready so I just paint, but last week I prepped 2 jobs and I'm quite fussy when it comes to pep work as it's all in the prep, and those 2 jobs came out very clean only a couple of nibs in both jobs, I try educating the preppers but it's like talking to a brick wall, they must like polishing lol
+richiet74 yeah man!! It's difficult !!! But I try to repeat myself so much that they can't help it but have my voice in their head saying make sure you blow the car off male sure you blow it off really well... I tell them everyday HAHAHA
I couldn’t agree more with everything you said, only thing you didn’t mention was blowing yourself off and wiping the hose.. I always blow myself off as I start the initial blowing and wiping. I get the car as clean as I can before washing then go through the blowing and tacking stage again slowly before paint. You can do a real nice paint job, but if its dirty, its ruined. A nice paint job includes it being dirt free… Sontara Wipers are amazing too use, E-4143 sold from Axalta Suppliers Like Napa and Rondex. Enjoy your videos.
Great work, I've starting "double straining" too with basecoat even using PPS cups, especially with silvers and those light colours, just makes it look like silk like yours did. I've never seen that mixing system before, you place the necessary tinters onto the machine and it rotates and pours it in? that's amazing, and saves more time. And oh yeah I've had striping before when tacking too hard on silvers, I like to gently tack now even just the weight of the cloth is enough
nice keep the videos commimg im from toronto canada we ground our cars to reduce static and also clean the gun twice 40% dirt comes from dirty gun dam that paint job came out clean
so they have the dirt pic for getting dirt out of paint.is that basically just a felting needle?I was wondering because there much cheaper than the ones they sell for automotive paint?
Hey Gabriel. Is there a certain type of tack cloth that’s best to tack off the blend metallic overspray? Some tack cloths are really sticky and some are not. I’m assuming to use the less sticky one.
Nice, clean job as always! Great tips! Hey Gabriel, im wanting to do a colour change on a 09 GMC Sierra. Its a crew cab with 5.8ft box. I bought a gallon of solvent base coat. Do think thats enough to do the entire truck, plus the insides of the 4 doors, and in between the box and cab? I have a bed liner, so inside the box is not getting and paint. Havent sprayed a complete in awhile...especially not a full size truck... Thanks for your time bro, Enjoy the long weekend! Cheers
I see that you use reducer in your clear. Is PPG the only clear that you use that requires reducer or can you add reducer to any other brand of clear and what is recommended?
Thanks for all of the awesome info Gabriel... Your videos are making converting to waterborne so much easier for me... I also use ppg envirobase and would like to know what products your using in your cleaning solution...I heard in another video of yours that you mix 2 cleaners. What are the product numbers of them and ratio ? Thanks for your time..
+MOTIVATED PAINTERS Thanks for the reply...i will definetly look at what we have available in the shop tomorrow and order if i have to...The cleaners can get a bit confusing for me..I miss the easy wax and grease remover bottle day's for sure.
Good morning Gabe, you are so right, the devil is in the details. Tacking off the paper and air washing in one direction is priceless information. That paint turned out spectacular. Thanks for a great video. Take care and have a good week.
+Joga Singh hey brother thank you so much!! I suggest you watch some of my other videos since they are easier to watch than this one. This was my very first CZcams video I ever did! Haha I use 1.2-1.3 for base and 1.4 for clear
NICE JOB. My employees think I'm Psycho for over cleaning before masking and while in the booth but it makes a huge difference for me. I hate polishing, it is a big waste of time and my money. We need to try to avoid it as much as possible. Gracias and God Bless you and your Familia.
Great work. I do my own body work and paint, and recently I have started wiping the car down with cleaners then taping up everything before driving it into the paint booth. Once in the booth I'll pull the plastic over. I've started blowing off my cars really good after they have been masked rather than tacking for fear of producing more static. I'll still run a tack cloth over everything, but only once before my sealer goes down and very lightly at that, and I have noticed significantly less dirt in my jobs. I Could be totally wrong but I think driving the car from the bodywork area to the paint booth kills the static charge on the car?? Does anyone know?
I have heard a mixture of alcohol and water does not only help clean but also reduce static,,,don't know if its compatible with waterborne paints,,,whats your thoughts
