Quite a fun coincidence that you post this today - I was just researching this today to get some inspiration.
Would be great to see a longer series on the practical aspects of adding gels to different types of flashes. I am into the Godox ecosystem with the AD1200, AD600, AD200 and would love to see some good tips & tricks.
As always - thanks so much for all the great content you put out - here and on Adorama.

I would absolutely love to see more options for flags and frames, whether diffusion, gobo/cookies, gels, or anything else. I'm also curious as to how you deal with softboxes on strobe heads that aren't flat-fronted--heads with exposed flashtubes, like Profoto's ProHead, Speedotron 102/202 series, Flashpoint 400/600, etc.

Thanks for the video. Could you suggest a method to apply a gel in a situation using an exposed bulb (like in the AD200) inside of the Godox AD-S7? My best guess would be to cut a gel and apply it to the spokes. I'm just having trouble sealing the gel so that white light spill doesn't contaminate the color corrected light.

A while back at a thrift store I found a gel, grid holder with barn doors that fits the seven inch reflector of my Speedotron M11 heads. It was labelled as being a stove vent and at 4.00 dollars a good useful find. Putting gels in or on softboxes, TV lights etc is simple enough. Thanks Daniel and have a good weekend. 😎👍🇹🇩

Interesting video. I’ve been using little hook magnets to hold the gel in the softbox. The arms are usually magnetic, so put the gel in the box, then just put the hook magnets on the arms and let the magnets sandwich and hold the gel in place. The hook park is handy as a little handle to pull the magnet off the arm as some of them have quite strong magnets. Anyway, you can get a bunch of those hook magnets on Amazon for very little money. They’re tiny, pack light, and really work.

If your looking for long-lasting, high-quality lighting filters/gels in a vast range of colors that are always consistent from batch to batch then you shouldn't save at the wrong end, so I went for "Lee Filters" gels and color correction foils, which you can also buy by the meter from the roll, so individual sizes in one piece can be easily realized. I`m using them with my system speedlights and my light formers and I don`t wanna miss them anymore. To attach them I use gaffer tape or narrow velcro strips or residue-free removable transparent "Scotch" adhesive tape.
Damien Lovegrove, for example, very often shows in his videos how such gels can be used creatively and easily and how differently but also easily they can be used and attached for a wide variety of purposes.
