Coffee WITH NO COFFEE MAKER | 2 Ways | No Electric Coffee Maker? No Problem!

  • Nope... it isn't instant coffee! I'm using FRESHLY GROUND coffee beans to make two amazing cups 'o joe two different ways and because it is so yummy, I don't even own a traditional coffee maker!
    Now I feel the urge to cue the "Coffee Pot (It's Time For The Perculator)" song, even though we aren't using one. Go ahead and google it... it'll boost your mood!
    But I digress. Read on for the recipe.
    IMPORTANT NOTE: For each method, you will need to use coffee grounds that are NOT in powdered form (i.e the kind you use in a standard coffee maker). The grounds need to be coarse (think: cake crumbs, or crumbs left on a plate from a sandwich). I grind mine fresh every morning, but you can use the grinder at the grocery store if you don't own one. FYI: You can get a decent grinder for less than $20. I highly recommend it, as fresh ground coffee beans make for even BETTER coffee, especially at the crack of dawn (when you're tired, unorganized, packing school lunches, making breakfast.... you get it, right?) I'm digressing again.
    NOTE: Use one heaping tablespoon of coffee beans per cup and grind coffee beans to a coarse grind.
    Method 1: French press
    Place the desired amount of coffee in French press (see note above). Cover with very hot water, using about 1 cup of water per cup of coffee. Let stand about 5 minutes; longer for stronger coffee, less for weaker coffee. Pour and enjoy!
    Method 2: Place the desired amount of coffee in a strainer (see note above) and place over a liquid measuring cup or large coffee mug. Gently and slowly pour very hot water over the coffee. Using a second measuring cup or strainer, repeat process anywhere from 2-5 times until coffee reaches desired strength.
    Enjoy!

      If you can get new unused stainless steel mesh such as used for screen printing you can make your own filter that will never wear out and only requires being rinsed off after use. Might want to boil it a bit before first use to remove any contaminates.

    Okay wow this actually helped. Finally! After spending the last hour going through ~15 coffee making videos, I'm going to stop at this one. I don't have any coffee equipment so the sieve method is something I now know about. Thank you!

    • @CreativelyBambi
      @CreativelyBambi  Před 7 lety +17

      Hello Ayy Lmao! I'm so glad you found this video helpful! I used the sieve method for years until I upgraded to my beloved French Press. It works fine and makes delicious coffee. You can even let the grounds sit directly in the hot water (as you would with a French Press) and then strain with a sieve. When you use this method, you may have a few coffee grounds at the bottom of your coffee mug, but just avoid them by skipping that very last sip. Happy sipping!

    • @ayylmao224
      @ayylmao224 Před 7 lety +20

      So here's what I did today. I ground my coffee beans using a mortar and pestle. I put the ground coffee into a thermos flask. I then poured hot water into the flask and put the lid over to let it steam for 5 minutes (kind of mimicking the french press). I then simply poured the contents of the flask through a sieve into my cup. I then poured the brewed coffee from the cup through the same sieve into another cup just to make full use of the ground coffee that was collected in the sieve. I've never tasted better coffee! So basically I mimicked the french press by letting it steam and then used the sieve method to strain out the ground coffee

    Great video, I have little espresso capsules and they won't be able to go in my Keurig coffee maker and I looked for ways to use them and I found this video! So I'm very happy that you made this video😁😀

    Is it weird that I can vividly smell her coffee when she poured out the hot water into french press? Or is it just me 😅 god I love coffees 💕

    the 2nd method is exactly what I needed. I dont drink coffee but need to use espresso in a recipie for tiramisu... instead of having to spend so much money on coffee things, the 2nd way made it easy to still make that tiramisu

    Thank you. Getting ready for hurricane Irma and I forgot to buy filters just in case we lost power to make it on my regular coffee maker. I've got all the supplies you used, and I've got a sterno to heat up the water. Thanks again, great idea.

      Hi Vesper! So glad you have an alternative now! But more importantly, I'll be thinking of you and everyone who is dealing with the wrath of this Hurricane Irma. I just visited Miami this summer for the first time (South Beach, to be exact) and its such a beautiful place. All the best to you!

    • @vespermartini2556
      @vespermartini2556 Před 7 lety +2

      Thank you. The mayor of South Beach has already issued an evacuation order, so hopefully people will evacuate. Yes, South Beach is beautiful. It seems the entire state of Florida will be covered by Hurricane Irma, let's hope for the best, and thanks again for your video.

      I just wanted to come back and tell you that I experimented this morning with your technique, and prepared the coffee on my sterno, it was great!!! You should remake this video or change the title, because it really helped me to make sure I can make my coffee if we lose power, hopefully I'll have a roof over my head once this monster passes through Florida. Thanks again.

    • @CreativelyBambi
      @CreativelyBambi  Před 6 lety +1

      So glad this technique worked for you! I sure hope you faired well in the hurricane. The numbers of homes lost/damaged is absolutely heartbreaking. And the power outages: just as astounding. My thoughts and prayers are with both Florida and Texas. And as cool as this coffee idea is, I sure hope you only make it this way because you WANT to... not because you're without power! Please check back in and let us all know you're ok.
