There were 200 bishops in England when Henry VIII named himself Head of the church in England. 199 acknowledged him as such. ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE!!! Only one refused to do so - St. John Fisher. And he was killed for it. Just because a man has become a bishop doesn’t IN ANY WAY mean he has the virtue of courage. In fact, very few do.

Now, whom God chastises, He loves. "Be zealous therefore and repent" as the Spirit advises repeatedly to the Churches in Revelation.
And prayer absolutely WILL change things, for even our Lord "ever lives to make intercession" on our behalf.

Read “Goodbye, Good Men” by Michael Rose. Written about 20 years ago, it details the systematic weeding out of more robust, masculine, faithful men from seminaries over the course of previous decades. Many left the seminaries because of the unspeakably immoral behavior going on there, many were flatly rejected from admittance by boards often staffed by effeminate rectors and heretical unhabited nuns, and still countless more never followed their vocation because their faith was evaporated away from them by a parish scene that was so heretical, effeminate, and goofy that no young man could possibly take it seriously.

Our other priest prays an Our Father for Ukraine after Communion and before the Closing prayer. That isn't anywhere in the Rite of the Mass. Here we're not talking about saints. We are talking about a spectacularly corrupt and perverse leadership in the Roman Catholic Church. This showed up on my feed today. It is St. Neri’s feast day. His story is so relevant to this clip… After a mystical experience, he enrolled in philosophy and theology classes at a local monastery in order to become a priest. Although he excelled in his studies, he suddenly quit in order to spiritually serve the people of Rome. At that time, indifference, luxury, and corruption were widespread characteristics of the Roman clergy. Churches were neglected, flocks were abandoned, and the loss of faith was widespread. St. Philip Neri, with his commitment to a life of asceticism, was a contradiction to all of this malaise. With his characteristic good-naturedness, he lead many to a life of virtue and love for God as he traveled through the streets of Rome. He later became a priest.

Could it be that it’s an innately priestly temperament to view this as a test of faith, rather than having a leadership mentality? A leader owns the problem and either fixes it, or cuts it out of the organization for the good of the organization (the church). Our church needs leadership. Bishops cannot simply be handwringing bystanders waiting for the Lord to sort it out at the Judgement.

But ultimately we can blame the hierarchy all the way to hell. If one part of the body is not doing its job, then God will give those gifts to another part-that would be us. And yes, not everyone has parents that explain but you work in your sphere of influence the Truth and holiness will set people free it will catch fire person to person and so they will eventually, if we focus on our own holiness (and speak out absolutely) those others who have no one to explain will bump into that Fire of the Spirit. But if we exhaust ourselves complaining that they are not doing their job and then wait for them to do it…what’s the fruit? We know the Truth! We are the conduits! So I don’t want to wallow anymore in being ticked off. At some point it is now my responsibility and I need to take it up. Or souls will be lost that were given to me. First, I’m glad that you were able to brave enough to speak of such things to some in your church. Second whoever is saying that your Bishop (I don’t know what position they are in, just guessing) is so “amazing and perfect” that you can’t find fault in the church then they are wrong to say so. A church should take complaints seriously and should never exempt anyone from investing no matter the status or appearance. Not really for sure what problem you have with your church or a specific problem but it needs to be addressed. I had a family member unfortunately had to complain about their pastor and no one believes him at first because everyone adore the pastor and thought he could do no wrong. Well they pushed for an investigation and my family member was right because what happened, actually happened to other members of church but kept quiet because they were scared. And the pastor was removed immediately.
I will say one word of advice on how to approach this situation, I remember this a couple of weeks ago our church actually talked about this subject but I can remember where it is in the Bible. But first talk to person (if there is anyone specific) that you have a problem with, if not next you go the the leaders of your church and have a discussion over it, if that doesn’t work, then finally you need to public talk about this problem to whole church/congregation to figure out how to fix a problem. I’m so sorry that your in such a tough position and some people aren’t taking your seriously. I hope thing resolve well.

To those who keep doubting the authenticity of the Catholic Church because of what this bishop did or what that pope did. PLEASE IT'S ENOUGH. You aren't in the Church because of this bishop or that priest, you're in the church because of Christ, because of the truth he has entrusted the Church with (1 Tim 3:15). I can understand the discouragement that can come from seeing the people we expect to be good examples do the wrong thing but that's not a reason to lose faith!!! Peter denied Jesus three times and yet he still remained the one to whom Jesus entrusted the keys to the kingdom of heaven. We have to understand that these people are human beings as well. Yes they undergo training and all that but that doesn't guarantee their perfection.
Which brings me to my second point. These bishops and priest don't fall from heaven. They were once regular faithful like you and me! So the problem does not even stem from them but from us the lay faithful. Our world is taking a turn for the worse and if this is still the society we expect our ordained ministers to come from then we should expect worse. Parents need to bring up their kids in the right manner. Saint Therese of Lisieux's parents should be an example to all of us. The change needs to start from us the lay faithful and not the hierarchy.
Finally, our rosaries are there for a reason, our chapters our there for a reason, our fasting and our sacrifices are there for a reason. Pray! Pray!! Pray!!! We often rely on the prayers of our priests and bishops so much so that we forgot they are human beings like us. Let's pray for the Church, let's fast for the Church. If we really want to see a change in the Church then we have to move past our complaining and whining and take action!!!
I hope this post reaches somewhere
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us
Our Lady, Mother of the Church, pray for us
St. Joseph, Patron saint of the Church, pray for us
All you heavenly angels and saints of God, pray for us. Amen.

Thank you. The Church has seen worse and came out better for it. We should be praying instead of complaining. The tides will turn in time as they always do and God's people will strive and flourish again. Times of great trouble make great saints. I spent a lot of time being angry and enough is enough, Christ saw the devil fall from heaven and ole blue beard is fighting a battle he cannot win. Time for the lay faithful to take responsibility for our role in the Church.

1/12 of the handpicked companions of Christ were traitors, 10/12 fled in terror and didn't come back to do the right thing until later, only 1/12 of the Apostles stayed with him until the end and stood at the foot of the Cross when He breathed His last this side of Salvation.
Why should we expect anything different?
There are approximately 5,600 living bishops today. We should then anticipate that 466.6 of them are Judas, 466.6 of them are John, and the remainder will either flee or deny Christ, before coming to their senses, repenting, and fighting the good fight after, as his Excellency so beautifully put it, "...a lifetime of suffering."

There will be plenty of Judases, but focus on what you're able to perceive as God's will for your life's work, and choose communion with Our Lord. Love & pray, remain faithful & humble yourself to confess & struggle against your sins... & He Who is faithful will bring you to victory & use your willing sacrifices (Colo 1:24) to extend Life to others as well.

A nice, indeed a powerful witness. When it is the senior pastors of the Church sowing confusion, and promoting it, when they are the ones impenitently auto-destructing the lives of the Faithful, when those allotted to rule, guard, and direct are the very same as those who lead souls into rebellion against God - absolving themselves and their followers in the name of a time-laden spirit of revolution .. while, mercifully if unjustly, persecuting all who dare to oppose them; then the members of Christ, at One with His Bride, are to rise and to be His saints (each in his own little sphere, for this truth is our duty and our privilege). Yip! That is nice, powerful, good to hear ...
    Thanks! How ...?
Keep the Faith; tell the truth, shame the devil, and let the demons shriek.

I wish more of our bishops in my country (Spain) were more like him. We need sheperds that actively take care of their sheep, that spread the Word and truly worry about those in spiritual need. As an example, the bishop of my diocese hasn't opened the confessionals yet, using the pandemic as an excuse (go figure). Bad sheperds do not care if their sheep roam freely and ended up being preyed by wolves. Pray for the strenghtening of their faith and the renewal of their vocation. We need them.

It puts me in mind what Mae West said about bad women..."There are no good women gone bad just bad women found out." There are no good bishops/priests gone bad just bad priests and bishops found out. One of the good things that Vatican II did was to bring bad priests and bad bishop out into the light. They had been hidden all along but the Council made them feel safe enough to expose themselves.

They rely on them to help them with life‘s difficulties because they have more authority and knowledge. Are Catholics therefore supposed to be more cautious and discerning about the leaders of their church or congregation?
