    This form of marketing is great, but you need to know that it only works when your target audience has 💰. For instance, middle class Indians don't care whether the company stood for Hardik Pandya or not, they just want a decent product at cheap prices.

      Nike is almost a premium brand so its target that way whereas products which are targeted to middle class its totally diff relatable stratgies

      Such campaigns are region specific. Agree, I doubt if it is effective in India. Hypothesis here is that marketing buzz convert into increased sales or increase in market share ( 2020 saw market dip). We saw lot of people stealing shoes during BLM riots.

President Trump tweeted as he was promoting "America First" Nationality fervor. This ad was seen anti- national as the Colin (footballer in the ad) knelt down during national anthem as a protest during a game.
      Its like instances where people refused to stand during national anthem at the theaters for just gimmicks or born rebels.
      Whatever it may be, not sure if Nike capitalized the buzz and converted to sales.
