    I've watched some more recent videos comparing heavy cut compounds. For a mobile guy, what would you say is the best all around heavy cut. Is it still sonax? Seems like you've gone back and forth between the 3D ACA and sonax. I don't do a lot of paint enhancement/correcting so I don't have a big arsenal to work with yet. I want to get more into that. I currently have a Koch-chemie fine polish and jescar correcting compound. I have a few different foam pads, microfiber and am picking up some wool pads. Looking to add a heavier cut and maybe a few more other polshes/compounds to practice with, but don't want to break the bank buying everything. Climate here is desert: dry, and long warm/hot parts of the year. What would you recommend? thanks

  • @Lierbal
    @Lierbal Před 6 lety +3

    This is a long post. Over the past couple years I've been through six or seven bottles of Fast Correcting Cream and I've never seen it leave behind a loose liquid film on a surface. I've used the compound heavily on different machines (3, 8, 15mm throw and rotary) with all sorts of pad sizes and pad types and in all manner of temperature and humidity.
    What you show in the video is definitely odd. Last year I had a bottle that dusted like crazy and lacked lubrication, so I called Griot's customer service, they asked for a picture of the bottom of the bottle with the batch number, and about a week later a new bottle arrived and it was perfect.
    Based on what is shown here it may be possible that your product is not up to par with Griot's standard. I know you test a lot of abrasives for your channel (thank you for doing this!), so it may be less important to you to put in time and such to get a new bottle from the manufacturer, but I'd love to hear about whether or not the product continues to run, even if you don't do a dedicated video about it and just mention it in a future video.
    I'll send some of this product to you if you like, I'll even test a portion of the amount that I send so I can verify that it doesn't turn in to liquid after a couple section passes.
    Will a new batch of Fast Correcting Cream change the outcome of your test? I doubt it - the result that you show is definitely on par with what I expect. But! I love this compound and I'd hate to see folks get turned away from it if they see the product turning into runny water after a couple passes.
    Did you prime the pad with a pad conditioner or water? I'm sure you've seen pads sweat before if they contain too much moisture, especially in a warm or hot environment. What you show in video is excessive liquid and doesn't look like typical sweating, but it's worth mentioning.
    One last thing, what is the consistency of the product while it is in the bottle? Is it thin and does it easily slosh around, or is it thick and does it require a bit if coaxing to shake it and mix the abrasives?
    Thank you again. Pardon the long post.

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  Před 6 lety +3

      I do not prime the pad. Hmmh.. this is the 2nd bottle I have used and acts the same way. I thought this was normal because I actually have 2 other compounds that were tested that act similar. It is nice and thick coming out of the bottle. I really dont know but appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I will definitely be contacting Them.👍🏻
