During spring brake my father took my brother and I trucking. I remember once he hit a snow goose... White feathers everywhere. Like you said, it exploded.
I've hit heaps of kangaroos, wombats, feral cats, the worst are snakes, you can't tell if they've hitched a ride and are pissed off and waiting for a chance to get you back, gotta love truck driving in Australia
saw an 18 wheeler hit 2 horses 20 feet apart
I passed a stopped semi and trooper on I-5 in Salem, Oregon and in front of the truck was a tarp covering a man who had run out in front of the truck. I check the news and it was a suicide. I think that was Aug 9, 2009, I remember cause I was going to a family reunion.
Heading in to Florence, SC on 15 east bound and almost hit a bobcat this morning. He was quick enough though and made it across.

I knew a truck driver that had a suicidal woman jump under his back wheels. She didn't make it.
I hit a roadrunner in New Mexico. Thats about it.
my oldman was following a 80 ton road train at 90kmh and was just about to overtake it when the road train jumped on the brakes hard and fast, Dad saw the woman that jumped in front of the roadtrain tumble off to the side of the road. They shut the road straight away cause she was dead on impact.
I was heading south on I-25 in the middle of Albuquerque just south of I-40 in Morning rush hour traffic. I was rounding a bend in the road at 55 mph when right in my lane was a large Spinning Roof Vent on a pallet. I had no choice be to run the thing over. Thank god for high clearances. I was driving an 86 KW with a 45' Flatbed, loaded with 50,000 lbs of Sheetrock heading to Las Cruses, NM. Another time I had a Racoon run out in front of me, turn to face me like a Football player, and tried to defend his quarterback. The next night on my way home again, there he laid, right where my left tires got him. I named him Rocky Racoon, and said I'm sorry Rocky every time I drove past him until animal control finally scooped him up.
I haven't hit any big animals, but I was driving on I-90 in Upstate NY and a swarm of cicadas came out of nowhere and I had about a thousand bug guts all over my truck lol.
Had a woman with her young son jump off a bridge in front of me it was 6 yrs ago and I still have the vision of what happened in my mind I couldn't get back behind the wheel of any vehicle for six months trust me it plays with your mind and it sucks.
Only things I've ever hit weren't alive. But in terms of stories there was a cattle truck rollover in June in Southern Queensland. Driver was fine, but they virtually had to shut down the highway and bring in drovers to round all the cattle back up.

When my dad was young someone committed suicide in front of him. The guy told the gas station attendant he was going to pull in front of a truck.
I was going to work one morning and we're I live in Virginia it's nothing but mountains here and at the time coal was sorted booming so we have coal trucks on the road here. so like I said going to work and a deer jumps the road and it slammed into the coal truck around the sleeper and it slung it over my 150 almost landed into my pickup bed. scared the shit out of me Abe.

I hit 2 young white tails with a semi before I had a bush bumper on the front and when i hit them they both helicoptered into both ditches.
I also hit a pedestrian as well on a dimly lit highway in city limits with a Oldsmobile station wagon about 15 years ago. Pedestrian was drunk and walking with his head down straight towards oncoming traffic. I didn't see him because he was wearing jeans and a jean jacket and his hands were in his pockets. I know myth busters said you cannot knock a man out of his boots but i beg to differ. I didn't see him until he was 2 ft from my bumper. (I was glancing at my speedometer just before that. I was traveling at 70 km/h).
I hit him just to the right of my left side headlight, his shoulder slammed into the windshield right in front of me and he helicoptered over the car and landed on the solid center line. He was out cold and he was breathing heavily and irregularly.
911 was called and the ambulance took him away to the hospital. I went back to lean against the back of my car and there 3 ft away from my back bumper sat both of his high top leather work boots. 1 still pointing the direction he was facing before impact the other also pointing same direction but on its side.
Police took me to the station to take my statement, was informed no charges will be made against me, there were 3 witnesses saying they barely missed him as well, and 1 saying he saw the guy step right into the path of my car just before my headlights lit up that area of the road. Thankfully, he did manage to survive.
I still get images of him 2 ft from my bumper sometimes when i close my eyes, and dream about it replaying in my mind about once a year.
I feel very bad about the whole situation, but talking about it once in awhile actually helps unload the guilty feeling of how I wish I didn't look down at the speedometer at that particular moment. I hope he is doing better.
i had an accident cople month after i started driving , it a moose at probably 50 60km/h , i almost died that night ! , 8 yrs later still think about it, looking the picture of the car is a bit theraputic for me! after the crash it took me 3 month to drive again and more than 6 month to feel safe again at the wheel

back when i still drove for crst i clipped a deer. just got past that rest area at the wyoming and nebraska line headed west on 80, damn deer didn't wait long enough and i ripped his face off with the bumper somehow
You ever hit a black angus cow? It's not fun, back in 2008 I hit a black angus cow around midnight no moon and newly black pavement. I hit her at 65 mph just outside of Springdale Arkansas. It did 14000.00 dollars worth of damages. I was injured for a week. Luckily I was empty and I didn't flipped it over.
I almost hit a huge huge ass spider in the desert lol. My wife was like WTF is that. Big damn spider haha.

hang in there my past is not going to be mentioned here or anywhere else. it's all but forgotten. your missing out though on big snakes that get caught up in the spool of your tandems as well as running over big gators too. Keep on trucking and keep it safe... you may have that day coming and hopefully it will not do you or your truck any harm to damaging anything very costly...moose are no exceptions and those moose bars are worth thier weight in gold. You might wanna get invested into one it's always maybe getting a blind hit from a goaless lazy driver that cared not to get out and look too. just saying better safe than sitting sorry. Later. I once hit some ducklings going north on US 97 in Bend, Oregon. No way I was going to swerve out of the way or jam on my brakes.
almost fucked up a deer in iowa. ran right in front of me and it was the middle of the night so i hit my brakes a bit cause i knew no one was behind me. (wonders of back roads) if i didnt i wouldve destroyed it along with my truck since my company than didnt provide the deer guards. my dad works on the state highways in california told me he went on to a scene to block the highway. guy jumped in front of a semi to kill himself and accomplished it. not a good scene to come onto and told me to always look out for people on the side of the road. never know what they'll do.
Something to do with Canada that keeps those geese protected, even though they now keep permenant residence in USA.

It's a federal crime in Illinois too. Any other animal gets creamed, but we'll have traffic jams over geese and ducks. I think it's because they mate for life, and if one of the couple dies, they don't find another mate. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but that's what I've been told.
It is true that they mate for life, & if one is hit, they stay with the one that got knocked off. But them finding another afterwards, I don't know.
They brought down that plane in the hudson.
They mate for life only if their mate is still alive. They do move on if need be.
In New York we can hunt geese
I was thinking to my self. Guys go hunting all the time for hours and come back home without a deer. I'm driving down i80 and I strike two of them with my truck. Smh. But seems like Starting at NV and up east to nj and Pennsylvania border nothing but dead deer every 6 7 miles.
I use to feel bad running over rabbits. The crunching noise under my tire when the rabbit blows up and all that use to make me sick now im like well... shit happens
when I was a kid riding with my dad in Georgia, I was asleep in the bunk and we had a fucking owl come through the windshield, my dad said he was running 70-75ish, I'm kinda skiddish driving at night because of that, he said he didn't see it coming
I know how you feel driver I had a guy in 2016 swerve onto me head on and and I flatten him and the cops name was R. LORD that took me to the hospital

A rabbit went through my windshield once. No, really!
I was driving along and a bird of prey had caught a rabbit, bird was trying to fly off when I came along...and the bird realized that it was put in a situation where it could either ditch the rabbit and fly to safety, or end up splattered. It let go of the rabbit right when they both cleared the grill and the rabbit got turned into mush.
Try explaining that to your company's insurance people.
he makes it sound like she didn't hardly leave a scratch on hit truck when clearly the truck that hit the suv and flipped over after locking the brakes up and sliding sideways this guy trying to get publicity for something he never did fake as fuck!!!

Deer, and moose, have whats known as a rut. It's seasonal. They are more 'active' in the rut.
If your on the open road during the rut ya gotta watch. They get all horned up. It's a deer, thing.
A moose will charge your truck if you honk at it, and flash your lights. To get it to move off the, path. Beat your front end to pieces if you piss it off. lol
If you hit one in a car it ends up in your lap. Crushes alot of people.
I know you did not mention moose but, I thought I'd warn ya if, you ever driving in Canada in the spring.

Yeah, I've got nothing to compare to that. Worst thing I ever hit was a deer. Totaled the car from cartwheeling down the side of it but other then my now ex-wife being extremely pissed (it was her car I was driving) nobody other than the deer got hurt.
I hit a unicorn once. It's magical horn punched a hole in my radiator.

I obliterated a deer the other day. Fucker jumped over the guard rail at me and splattered across the whole lane. The best part was the intestines and stomach that got hung up on the landing gear cross member. I had to remove that with a stick at the fuel island. Ugh there was hair and blood and deer shit all over the underneath of the trailer.

THEN I SEEN SEEN ONE GULL BREAK RANK FROM FLOCK AND I WATCHED THIS GULL KAMIKAZE NOSE DIVE DIRECTLY INTO MY WINDSHIELD FOR REASONS UNKNOWN. HE COMPLETELY SHATTERED MY WINDSHIELD AND LEFT ONE HELL OF A MESS TO THE POINT I COULD NOT SEE TO DRIVE. WATCHING THAT GULL WAS KINDA SURREAL. I JUST REMEMBER THINKING WTF IS THIS BIRD DOING THEN BAM....
I hit a dude on a bicycle a few years ago, not cops involved but it did cost me around $700 in Doctor bills and had to buy the guy a new bicycle.. got him a Walmart special...
