  • My dispatcher tried to throw me under the bus and got all bent out of shape over a tame Qualcomm message, I had to flex a little knowledge on him and show him what was up! Trucking can be frustrating at times, but knowing the tricks to get out of bad situations can really help! =)

    Freight broker here. I never gauge transit time at 65 unless it’s a really short trip. I deal with coast to coast loads and use single and team trucks. Any single driver worth his salt can do 600 miles a day before DOT break in a 24 hr period. What kills us is shippers that drag their feet in loading. I take care of my drivers because there’s nothing worse than a pissed off driver.

    Abe, I pushed a truck down the road for over 40 years coast to coast, back and forth, up and down. Owned a truck and lost it. Drove for companies and was screwed over by dispatchers more than you can possibly imagine. I retired a year or so ago and now I watch trucker videos to fill the emptiness in my heart because I am no longer able to drive. I guess what I am saying is the worse day I had in a truck is better than the best day most people have. Trucking is something you love doing or don't. Maybe you should do something else because you sure don't seem happy. I would give anything to go back 40 years and trade places. I wish you good luck and inner peace.

    Lol look at all the hypocrite dispatchers in the comments sections. Abe’s words sting because there is some form of fundamental truth in it.
    They didn’t even watch the whole video. Abe thoroughly explained what happened. If he can’t deliver an impossible load, then he can’t deliver it. His dispatcher’s insecurity and disrespectful behavior was a result of his boss breathing down his neck. Abe should just be a doormat for that? Bullshit.
    I’ve been in the industry for almost 15 years now. I’ve done dry van, Reefer, flatbed, hazmat and household goods. That dac report is a bottom barrel company scare tactic. As long as you have a CDL, any company will hire you. Look at Western Express, they’re a 2nd chance company for drivers with felonies.

  • @PulpMinded
    @PulpMinded Před 6 lety +23

    This is why a lot of successful drivers have Military background; cause we understand the concepts of Respect & Logistics. First question on a load: when does it deliver. If you don’t ask, than its on you if your late. No real harm generally, but gotta accept your side of the responsibility. Trip Planning is Always key.
    But, I have learned, a few kind words to a dispatcher on a tough load will turn you into a valued driver who gets great runs & good miles. If you Bite the hands that feed you, you starve yourself. If they make a mistake, ok... try to work around it, & then move forward troubleshooting. But calling someone out & getting in their business with hostility will only get you sitting at a truck stop not getting any miles. Dispatchers are just part of the team... we all win when we respect each other. I drive, have driven for a year... & my DM’s always enjoy dealing with me. Guess what, I get really good miles... go figure. Come on man, let’s fix your attitude & stop thinking the world is flat & your at it’s center.

I would inform you that a lot of Vets have capability to do a lot of different things career wise, we just choose the industry because it’s similar to how we served.
      Just saying you would find more success if you found a better tone & did not try to be so abrasive. But, #DoYouBooBoo

      2: The vast majority of our military initially went into the service because they couldn't do shit else to make anything above minimum wage, let's state facts and not jazz anything up.
      3: being abrasive in the trucking industry is a must, I've clearly demonstrated through several videos on CZcams that truckers don't matter, weather you're a ray of fucking sunshine or a complete dick, you'll never be anything more than trucker trash to these companies.

Impressive to say the least driving through nasty snow storms in the winter & always on time. Then a new company got the new bid and the nightmare began. Drivers being lied to, and we were being lied to as well. They told my boss that we were refusing loads that in reality had never even left yet. I have no clue why we didnt move on. Its new drivers everyday now and half of them are pissed at us because they were told I would take them when I had no idea they were coming.

    Total stupidity!!! One of the drivers that stop’s at truck stops every hour and complain that the dispatcher is at fault for not counting hours. Instead of solving problems that he created he is crying. The new truck drivers generation!!! Rolling 1k miles per week and crying that they don’t make money!

  • @Parents_of_Twins
    @Parents_of_Twins Před 5 lety

    Don't know if there's a point commenting on this since it is old but what the hell. First things first. Never ever send a message to someone pissed off. Wait until you have calmed down and then send your message. Second there's an old saying that goes along the lines of "You will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" so in other words cussing someone out or calling them stupid may feel really nice when you are pissed but it won't win you friends and it WILL make you Enemies. Finally the fewer enemies you have in a work environment the happier you will be. You can be honest with someone and call them out for messing up in a nice way and still not make an enemy or you can call someone a stupid idiot who you wouldn't let plan a birthday party and make an enemy.
