    I’ve come to realize that physical movement goes hand in hand with mental movement. When the former gets neglected the latter inevitably slows. I’d say that motion, whether it be through dancing, running, push-ups, juggling, is essential to keep a mind capable of that dynamic ability so many of us fondly remember from earlier years.

    • @MasonOfLife
      @MasonOfLife Před 4 lety +24

      Movement is the nature of life! The planets and stars move through the universe (including the earth and therefore us on it) , our thoughts are constantly moving from one to the next, our very cells are vibrating, electrons spinning, blood flowing...
      Movement=Life
      Without movement from one moment to the next, there would be no life!
      (Life literally is a movement through moments)

    It's my 43rd day of working out every single day for 1.5hour during this quarantine period. I've felt so much better of myself than I was before. There are times when I just didn't feel like doing it but once I laced up my shoe I started working out immediately without procrastinating coz there's just no reason for me to skip the day, my schedule is just free and nothing interrupts with it. I also try to wake up early (I wasn't a morning person at all) and read every single morning. So far I've read 7 books in a month now which is kinda a small achievement for me coz I'VE NEVER LIKE READING. However once I started reading I kinda fall in love with it when I found values from it. :)

I am returning to work soon and my only concern is how can I keep working out like I've done so far, but at the same time this is very important to me and not just to see physical results but also because I've seen mental improvements that I like - like being more goal-oriented, more productive, more self-disciplined, not so lazy and not finding so many excuses for why I couldn't do something, etc.

    Personally speaking, whenever I've felt as if I have no control over life, one of the first things I do is to work out. It helps regain control and builds up momentum to take charge of your life. You begin to feel good about yourself as you commit to a healthy self-care habit such as working out. It really is a game-changer.
    I've been working out for the past 2 years, and my life has changed entirely. My personality, how I carry my self, my confidence, my ability to commit and be consistent, self-discipline, what kind of response I now get from people, everything has changed drastically. Plus I've taken some good initiatives such as starting a blog on personal development and a CZcams channel which I always procrastinated on before. I highly recommend y'all to incorporate more exercise in your life. The pandemic is a good opportunity to develop some good habits.

      Something that helps me is to have different workouts for each day so that they don't feel boring. And whenever I don't feel like doing them or I'm too tired, I push myself to at least do 10-15 minutes of exercise. That way I keep the discipline there.
      But I feel you, these are tough times to be motivated. I hope you find the spark soon!

    • @Jhowellsfitness
      @Jhowellsfitness Před 4 lety

      i've been working out for a while now and thought i could share some insight.
      firstly, try out different exercises and choose the one you enjoy the most. use this to form a habit of working out and then, if necessary, incorporate other exercises (that may be more beneficial) into your workouts after this habit has been formed. learning to enjoy working out is the first step. otherwise you will never be consistent.
      also, i find that sticking to a certain schedule beneficial. for some, like lana did in this video, it's great to work out every day because you have less of a choice to skip a workout and say that you'll do it on a different day. note that an every-day routine is not sustainable if you are working out the same muscle group each day. but of course you are not constrained to only doing one sort of workout. for example, you can do calisthenics every other day, and do cardio on your off days. then maybe have a day once a week for yoga/stretching. switching your workouts up can help maintain the novelty, instead of it becoming repetitive.
      for others, and perhaps what would be more suitable if you lack motivation, 2-3 days a week is better because working out every day can burn you out, and you may end up quitting after a week. the key to working out effectively is consistency. so work with the one that suits your mindset best. trial and error may be the only way to find out.
      another great way to motivate yourself is to record what you do every work out. if you go for a run, use an app like Strava to record your distance/time/pace. if you do pushups, record how many you do per set. over time, try to improve on these personal records, so that you have some sort of goal in mind. having a purpose to working out can help push you that extra mile, whether it is in the gym or out of the gym, to maintain the healthy lifestyle. having goals help with consistency as missing a work out will hinder your progress towards that goal.
      finally, i've found it easier to motivate myself to go running outdoors recently (it would be the same for other forms of outdoor cardio), because it is pretty much illegal to go outside for any other reason in my country. so it is a privilege to be able to go outside and appreciate nature. remembering this, and viewing it as a way to stop being stuck in your house, may help improve motivation.
      good luck. hope i could be of help.

    • @michaelkrull3331
      @michaelkrull3331 Před 4 lety

      What has always helped me stay motivated is deciding on a goal, then structuring my program. What do you want to do? lose weight? build muscle? (you can't do both at once, sorry!) improve strength, agility, or stamina? Each of these goals will require a unique approach. And after setting your goal, set a deadline. If you have a limited time frame in which to accomplish your goal, you will have a sense of urgency, and hopefully be less inclined to skip workouts--but do remember the importance of rest. We weightlifters like to say you don't build strength while working out, you build it while resting.
      Decide what to do, how to do it, and when to have it done by. Hope this helps.

      I know what it feels like. What I do is do my workout alone in my room without telling anybody, when I'm sure no one will come in my room for 10-30 minutes, you can also just go out and say "I'll be back in an hour", unless they insist to know where you are all the time.
      Exercise is Not something to be ashamed of. It's something to be proud of. And if you enjoy doing it that makes things just ten times better for you 😁 And maybe one day your parents will look at you and say "huh, when did you get so snatched?". The ultimate revenge for me is proving people wrong by showing results. 😉

    It’s funny a lot of us consider eating and drinking water as essential things we just have to do every day, and so we do (for the most part in normal life)
    And if/when we stopped we’d see a big negative impact on health and well being (physically, mentally and emotionally)
    But despite its extreme benefit to our health (some would say for optimal health it is essential) we don’t consider regular exercise (even walking) a necessity, but if a person stops moving you see extreme negative impacts on physical, mental and emotional health
    Exercise can take more effort it’s true but the way we view exercise as something wed rather not do (even light walking) is important.
    Imagine viewing eating or drinking as something we’d rather not do because we’d rather stay on the couch, it’s pretty bad! And with something as simple as light walking, if we view that as almost as essential as eating or drinking water, it can change our life

      Taxtro I mean until the office work space was invented (people sitting at a desk for work majority of the day) and before the living room became such a huge use of our time (TVs, cellphones, video games, computers) we at least used to MOVE more throughout our history, not necessarily “exercise” but certainly more movement than we see now in many people
      Don’t get me wrong many of us still do, it’s just the sedentary lifestyle has become ever more normalized (not judging though I totally get the appeal) just important to understand how much of a determinant it can be on our health
