Pride and Prejudice is a six-episode 1995 British television drama, adapted by Andrew Davies from Jane Austen's 1813 novel of the same name. Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth starred as Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, respectively. Produced by Sue Birtwistle and directed by Simon Langton, the serial was a BBC production with additional funding from the American A&E Network. BBC1 originally broadcast the 55-minute episodes from 24 September to 29 October 1995. There was not one bad actor or actress in that production. It was perfect! I think Jane Austen herself would have approved of it.

I think Jane Austen would have been unimpressed that so many of the actors were at least 20 years older then the characters they were playing. Not to mention that Jane was so much less pretty then Lizzie.
The 1980 BBC version is equally well cast.

This is and always will be the best version of pride and prejudice, I've never seen another master piece, i watched in Spanish and i never got tired of watching it, never watched it enough unfortunately i cannot find it anywhere anymore in Spanish. Deeply sad for it.

I loved this version of pride and prejudice the best . But this video is full of mistakes . This version has the best Mr Collins ever . He was absolutely spot on !
No he WASN’T! Mr Collins is described in the book as a “tall, heavy looking young man of five and twenty”. So casting a 42 year old actor of average height and slim build was totally wrong.

I am not aware of the existence of any character called Maria Lucas in the novel. She was Charlotte Lucas, Elizabeth Bennet's friend who becomes Mr. Collins' wife.
