  • We all like showing off our latest 3D printed project, whether it be on social media or to a close friend. But how do people get those buttery smooth time lapse videos of their 10 hour print? In this video Zach shows you how to mod your 3D printer to capture time-lapse videos for both FDM and SLA resin printers. With a little bit of extra effort and a few components, you can improve the quality of your time-lapse videos using these tips and tricks.

Definitely would like to see it done for phones. A Bluetooth trigger might work but show the work-arounds for wireless issues and fob battery issues.

Surprised you didn't mention software like octoprint which can do all this for you with any standard gcode.
That being said, clever designs for your implementations, kudos.

    Just a couple of thoughts.
    - Not sure how long the photo resistor will run in a high UV environment.
    - Salvage the parts from a selfie stick for the phone version.
    - If you wanted to do the same firing cable for both methods, make the resin version with the photo resistor and interrupt a light source with the X axis instead of a physical push button switch.

Yes, give the phone(s) a try! And please remember that that while iPhones are big in America, many of us and the majority of people around the world use Android phones! 😎✌️
