  • Today's video is a special one. I got an opportunity to overview the new 'Sig P320 Spectre Comp' and I wanted to share my initial impressions with you guys. Like the name states, the 'Spectre Comp' has a compensator on its TiN gold threaded barrel. Sig has told me that it'll reduce muzzle flip by over a third... I needed to see it for myself.

    If Sig can afford to do so much T and E as opposed to the after market companies, how it that when the P320 came out they ALL had to be "voluntarily upgraded"??? Sig should have used all that money in their budget to recall and fix those guns. It's going to be a long time before I will ever trust Sig again.

    That gun looks really sweet! I have had a p229 25 years. My first and only defense pistol. Excellent gun. If I’m a Sig fan it’s because of the one. If I had the coin I would have an arsenal of great variety but one good gun is all I need.

    Love the P320 Spectre Comp. I got a chance to shoot one at Texas Gun Experience and fell in love. Coming from a Glock, I needed to work on my grip to overcome the extra felt recoil. When shooting the Spectre Comp, the recoil felt like I was shooting a Glock again (much more push back recoil instead of a sharper muzzle rise) BUT with all the upgrades from a P320 (better trigger, grip texture, etc). Sig really outdid themselves this time. This is definitely the next pistol on my list once I save up enough.I highly recommend it and think the extra cost is worth it.

    Sig has got a little bit of a reputation for using its end users as their beta testers that's why I generally won't buy a gun from them until it's been out for a while. I would argue that "new" sig products are beyond beta stage, but overall I agree with the sentiment. They tend to do this cool thing where they make incremental changes but say nothing so the end user has no way of knowing without being up to date on the platform which can be a good thing, but being forced to do so is wack imo.

      @@Appalachia_Ape yep and that's my biggest problem with them... If they make a change without saying anything that's kind of shady to me. If they find out there's a problem with a gun the right thing to do is at least do a voluntary recall or put the info out there so people know to check their gun out... That's why I won't buy a gun of theirs until it's been out for a few years. Take care brother!!

    If you think that is good, you should check out the strike industries mass driver. It’s a whole different level. It’s a compensator, but it’s also a spring loaded counterweight to the slide. And because it doesn’t screw onto the barrel it’s legal in all 50 states (no threaded barrel needed). And it costs $90-$100.

  • @ruggedmeetsrefined5345
    @ruggedmeetsrefined5345 Před 2 lety +11

    Yeah man, that pistol is sweet, but I don’t know why Sig didn’t put a trigger safety on the P320. To be super nonGlockish? To me, on a striker fired pistol with a 4-6lbs pull, regardless of the trigger shoe being lighter weight, their should be something that has to be manually disengaged for the trigger to move rearward.
    Also, there are a lot of guys who go to the range to shoot their new pistol, and they suck because they have very little experience shooting a pistol. They see guys around them pulling tighter groups, so they pack up their stuff and leave. Then they get online and look for a pistol like the Spectre with a comp and red dot thinking that more gear, not more reps will solve the problem. They avoid the range because they don’t want people to see that they suck. When I first started shooting, I loved when the range was empty, but when people showed up, i never left, but I didn’t like it because they would see that I sucked.
    If you have a reliable platform in 9mm and can’t pull tight groups, it’s a lack of practice that’s your problem.

    • @sammyg4806
      @sammyg4806 Před 2 lety +1

      99 percent of people stink at new skill related things. The only way to stop stinking and attaining skill is by practicing.
      I agree, these guys should spend more time at the range honing their skill. It is nice to see experience shooters, but at the same time it is nicer to work on self improvement.
      In regards to the Sig P320s trigger, it is my EDC and I love the short break. Safety habits are important, a lot of LEOs shooting themselves with the gun have poor safety habits that allowed them to get way with certain things with the Glock. Thing like carelessly fiddling with their holsters while sitting on their cars. An officer near my area shot his privates off with a Sig a few weeks ago doing this.

    • @sammyg4806
      @sammyg4806 Před 2 lety +2

      @@KeterMalkuth I agree, I dry fire all time, and practice un holstering from different positions. I do think proper grip and technique helps immensely. I agree, at certain point it is the shooter and not the gun.
      I carry a P320 X carry, I feel that it is all the gun I need for Conceal carry and EDC self defense. If I can’t shoot well with that weapon, I will likely struggle with a spectre comp as well.
      I think if you have a reliable gun to start, practice is all you need afterwards. If someday people want to upgrade to a competition gun, they will only be better with the years of practice in previous guns.
      My point was, people shouldn’t quit doing something they want to improve at just because other people are better than them at the range. It is like going to lift for the first time, you can’t quit because some guys look like Arnold or the Rock and you are a ‘skinny twerp’. You have to start somewhere at some point, or else, you will always be a skinny twerp.

    How many rounds have you put through the XCompact? How's the reliability been so far?

    Sig literally paid Mr GunsnGear to do videos to recover their reputation after they kept releasing junk guns like the first gen 320 with a defective trigger safety or the 365 which had function issues.
    They definitely use the market to test…

    Question: How do you remove the barrel from the slide with the comp on it to clean the barrel. Is the comp removable by the end user?

    • @jagpilotohio
      @jagpilotohio Před 2 lety

      The barrel has two flat spots on either side of it and two set screws lock the comp into place so it’s always lined up correctly. To break it down you unscrew the comp after loosening the screws. Sig has a launch video of it here on utube and Phil talks about it in some depth.

    Dang man that's a pretty good group ,I mean you could tell that you wasn't having to try real hard to manage that pistol and shooting that close, that seems to be a good design it dang sure works good, I mean if I could afford it Id but one, definitely.

    would it be possible for a p320 to have a x5 legion receiver with the spectre comp and slide? (new to pistol terminology but I hope the point comes across)

    • @AdmiralBored
      @AdmiralBored Před 2 lety +2

      "Receiver" generally referred to as frame and in Sig world it's called a grip module - to answer your question you can use any p320 slide on any p320 grip but FYI the grip of the COMP specter it's the same as the grip on the X5 Legion, it's TXG (tungsten) infused, only difference between what's on the Specter COMP and a X5 Legion is the stippling, stippling is the texture on the grip.
