I think Disney is being fueled by nostalgia, they just need to live action remake a classic and the grandparents and parents of the current generation are sure to flock the cinemas with their kids just so they can pass on the magic to them.

My 5 year olds hated it. The twins can usually watch Lion King on freaking repeat for hours but this was, and I quote, " boring"

It was the whole point of the animated movie...... But to be fair it didn't make much sense there either.
He went back, sure. But once confronted by Scar, he told everyone the truth - AND NOBDOY HAD HIS BACK. It wasn't until it was revealed it wasn't his fault that the lions came to his aid. That makes the morale of the story "Unless you can clear your name, you are actually better off staying away. Don't bother trying to make things right otherwise."

Yup, it's even worse than I thought it'd be. I knew Beyonce would ruin the movie but it's just a very, very bad movie and she had added to the problem and isn't the problem.
Give it a watch. It is honestly not as bad as everyone is saying. I love the original, the broadway version blew my mind, and this one was still enjoyable. My only big criticism of it is that they should have gotten Jeremy Irons to reprise his role as Scar. This guy (I’m not going to murder his name) wasn’t terrible on his own, but compared to Irons he was nothing.
If anything the technology used to make it is worth watching it for. Yeah the animals don’t dance, but they honest to god look and move like real animals, it was mind blowing.

I... Actually wouldn't mind that... I mean, animating Stitch would be little different than, say, Rocket Raccoon or Pikachu. Aliens are all fairly easy to produce well through CGI. The story of Nani struggling to keep her sister from being taken by the State would probably translate much better to a live-action film. The only real concern I would have is finding a good child actor for Lilo.

The saddest part of this movie, it made $1 billion. We're gonna keep getting these movies.

Well, they're going to run out of the big names soon enough. Then we'll get more of the ones people are less interested in... the Dumbos, the Pete's Dragons, and so on. Though on the plus side, maybe they'll give us a Robin Hood with Zootopia style graphics.
That said, eventually, if their box offices don't crash, they'll have to resort to remaking the straight to home video sequels. Which might actually be decent, since they'll have a chance to fix issues with the originals, rather than failing to live up to them like most of the current crop.
because we dont really have any children movie, kids movies are the most lucrative source of income. You got the kids + atleast 1 of their parent

I'm more upset over that delivery of the "Long live the king" line. Jeremy Irons made it sound so sinister and slimy with a hint of sadistic glee. Chiwetel said it like those were the very first words he ever said in his life.

Me either. Watching this honest trailer was more than enough to make me cringe and be glad I never wasted time watching the movie. I haven’t watched any of the Disney remakes. I have absolutely not even an inkling of a desire to see what they are like. I just watch screen rant pitch meetings and honest trailers for these movies

It's like most people collectively forget that the original Cinderella was an amazing person not because she could ride horses and throw a punch, and continously misconceive her relationship with the guy to be the poster child damsel in distress saved by prince charming cliche.
