- A tribute to Benjamin Quentin "Benji" Marshall (born 25 February 1985). A New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who plays as a five-eighth or halfback for the Wests Tigers in the NRL.
He previously played for the St. George Illawarra Dragons and the Brisbane Broncos. Marshall was also briefly a professional rugby union player with the Blues of Super Rugby.

Hey mate Benji is still relevant today as he marches into South Sydney Grand Final this Sunday 3rd October 2021. Still playing with all the skills he's honed over his time. Giving young and old players the gift of his knowledge ....So proud of Souths for giving him this chance after Wests turned their back on him. He's rugby League royalty.
I was at Shark Park for the Fitzhenry try, in the main grandstand. Me all alone in my Tigers gear with a sea of Cronulla jersey's, Cronulla beanies, Cronulla seat cushions, Cronulla scarves all around me. We'd scored a couple of tries before that and the big screen showed 1 or 2 replays. This try got about 5 or 6. After the front on replay was shown they were all on their feet applauding. One of them turned around and said to me "how great was that?". Benji at his best transcends team loyalties, national loyalties. Great player, great person. The single most joyful player to watch in my 50+ years.

If he's not in consideration to be an Immortal, let this video argue his case. I mean...the side steps, the no look and back passes, intercepts, kicks and chases, field goals from 50m. He's done things others simply cannot do on a regular basis. The guy changed the game. To me he is the most influential player for most of the players in the modern era.

Dragons fan here. Benji is a legend. Influenced a whole generation. Growing up playing backyard footy, everyone wanted to be Benji. Such a goat. Will be a sad day when he retires. Respect!

A legendary strike weapon with classified lethal capabilities is probably the best way to describe the man. Definitely one of the most influential Kiwi players of all time, and certainly within this recent era. The way he added air time to the jink step, was inspiration for a multitude of younger players following in his wake. Truly was poetry in motion to behold. E te Rangatira Riki, nui tonu to mana.

Benji looks iconic in tigers colours. The only jersey that fits him like his own skin
He went from a super star kid to a very humble grown man...no one does more for kids than he does. Benji has spent countless hours visiting sick children in hospital and doing as much as he could for those that he needed help. A legend off the field as much as on the field.
Benji is still such an influencing player! The guy needs immortal status and a coaching gig!!!

Hey guys, Benji has just retired September 2021 helping South’s get to this years grand final and narrowly losing…I implore you guys to watch this reel again and then do the right thing and push Benji Marshall’s case for being inducted as an Immortal of the game to the top of the NRL, ARL and to all the key decision makers….he genuinely deserves it ✊🏼 cheers guys

One of the greatest most unique players in Rugby League history, he's inspirational, love watching his moves.
A player like Benji only comes along once in 30 years. I am so glad I had the privilege of watching him play for 18 years at the highest levels of NRL. He will be sadly missed especially the magic he weaved on the field whether it was playing for the Tigers, Saints, Broncos, Souths, New Zealand or playing touch footy in the State Knockouts. He was a spectacle to behold....a real magician and a nice guy to boot!

Something I learned today was that my homeroom teacher refereed benji when he used to play in local football clubs as a child, my homeroom teacher used to be a referee before she took the job as a teacher.
