      @robertdrummond3699 Před 4 lety +41

      Jack Sadaka He’s not the greatest. You could say the same thing about Michael Jordan carrying his Bulls team 1984-1990. Putting up 63 points against the 1986 Celtics, which is still the playoff points record today. The point is, is that when Jordan did get help, he never had a full season with the Bulls where he didn’t win the championship. You cannot say the same for Lebron however. Forget the warriors series because it’s true that those warriors teams were stacked as well, so I won’t put the blame on lebron. But Lebron’s performance against the Mavericks in 2011 is inexcusable, especially when he and Dwayne wade were seen mocking Dirk Nowitzki before a game. Additionally, his team’s loss to the 2015 Spurs is the greatest NBA finals loss in terms of points margin, and they only played 5 games.
      Second point is that while he did carry those early Cavs teams far, the Eastern Conference was all time horrible. The only formidable team in the East were the Pistons. This is important to point out because there have been other one man shows who carried their teams but may not have advanced as far into the playoffs because the competition was better (i.e. why Jordan’s early Bulls wouldn’t advance further than the first or second round). With regards to his performance against this 2008 Celtics team, it was incredibly impressive, but one round earlier, they were taken to 7 games by the Atlanta Hawks and a year later, would be taken to 7 games in the first round by a Bulls team led by a rookie Derrick Rose.
      In the end, Lebron is a great talent and player, definitely one of the best of his generation, but sometimes his greatness is exaggerated because of recency bias and history removing the context of his achievements and failures.

      In LeBron's 3 wins against the 2008 Celtics he had 24.7 ppg 7.7 rpg 9.0 apg on 35.6% and 4.7 TOpg, very sub-par for his standards. LeBron shot under 40% in all 3 of the Cavalier wins. For the series, LeBron's teammates shot 149/344 (43.3%) whereas LeBron shot 55/155 (35.5%). LeBron had more than enough help to get the job done in this series, especially with the Celtics scoring under 100 in all 7 games (84 ppg for the series) after averaging 100 for the season, but still failed.

    • @dariuspeyton6239
      @dariuspeyton6239 Před 8 lety +88

      Anon Ymous those stats are like that because of the way the Celtics play defense. Those celtics teams, (whose defensive coach was Thibs btw) were a top defensive team at that time. And besides that everyone knows you have to stop Lebron so thats where the focus is so it makes sense that he was shooting worse than his teammates who were probably shooting less contested shots, whereas Lebron is seeing double teams thorughout the game. Lebron had hasbeens and no ones on that team that was facing 3 hall of famers (in the tail end there prime still formidable) along with the celtics leading assist man in Rondo - it would take a lot to beat them at that point in time.

    LeBron is absolutely ridiculous before the Heat days and most people didn't even recognize it. He CARRIED a team with a second best player named Larry Hughes. Most people won't even recognize Hughes, not surprising since he is barely a good starter, to the Finals.
    If LeBron stayed in Cleveland, his prime stats would most likely be 30-9-9, given his oppoturnity to score in Miami was held down by Wade and Bosh. And he still averaged 27-7-7 in Miami. That's MJ stats right there, or should i say GOAT stats.
    And yet with all the greatness this man shows, people still doubted him. "He is a coward since he left Cleveland" then why the fuck is Durant not hated for trying to leave OKC, when he has a better team than what LeBron had? "He is a crybaby" Magic was complaining to the refs. Steph Curry was complaining to the refs. Kobe was. Heck even MJ. "He can't win without superstars" MJ couldn't win before Pippen and Grant and Rodman came to the Bulls. Kobe didn't win any title without Pau and Shaq. Curry had one of the greatest team of all time. "He is a choker" LeBron averaged 36 ppg in close out games in the playoffs. He got a clutch, excuse me, LEGENDARY chasedown block in game 7 of the 2016 finals. Then went on to hit a clutch free throw to seal the championship.
    Yall gotta put some respect on his name

    Paul Pierce is the MF truth. I’ve been blessed to watch Larry bird career and to watch Paul Pierce his entire career. Pierce did not get the credit. He deserved this game, allowed him to showcase what he did for Celtics fans all year round his entire career. Paul didn’t even get the credit he deserved in Boston. We all know how Boston fans are all those years when Paul was killing it. The Boston media was focused on the Red Sox or the Bruins or the patriots. Celtics didn’t get the attention and love like the Red Sox and the patriots did so Paul’s overshadowed but yes, he was a beast. I rank him top three scorers of all time for the Boston Celtics.

    lebron vs prime allen, prime KG, prime pierce

    • @Maxphyte
      @Maxphyte Před 9 lety +48

      Of the Celtics the closest to his prime was Pierce. KG was already at the start of his decline. This was before injuries started to pile up on his body. As for Ray Allen, this wasn't his prime but just goes to show you how great of a player he was to be playing at such a high level at 33.
      One thing I do miss about Pierce in his younger days was he could actually defend any of the elite players one on one. Compare that to him falling for stupid crossovers and quick dribbles in his older years lol.

    • @MegaBadzilla
      @MegaBadzilla Před 9 lety +20

      Maxphyte KG was still in his prime. He didn't need to play 40 mins a game like his Minnesota days because he had a better team. But per 36 mins he had numbers matching his career bests in ppg, rebounds and even had career high FG% of 54. Ray Allen was also quite close to his best. 33 for a shooter is not that old at all. Michael Jordan played more physically, 82 games every year and was still the best in the league at 35.

    • @Maxphyte
      @Maxphyte Před 9 lety +19

      Daniel Richards KG even at the end of his first tenure in MN was already starting the downward slope on his prime. I'm not saying he still wasn't effective in Boston cause he's a big reason why they won their first year together as a big three, but to say that he was still in his prime in Boston is stretching it a little.
      Ray Allen was more than a shooter. The stuff he was doing in his Bucks/Sonics days was more than just spot up shooting and offball movement.
      My point is that while these two were still great players in Boston, they were not in their prime. The only person of the big three to be in his prime in Boston was Paul Pierce. And that's cause he played virtually his entire career there lol.

If you are refferring to his greatest game of his career id also throw in when he dropped 48 against the nets in like what 2001 or 2002? 46 points in the 2nd half... not many people remember that. also when he dropped 50 against the cavs in '06 , and all the games where he would go for 30-35 and a game winner like how he did against miami to put them up 3-0 in the playoffs. The game of my childhood... man, watching this made me cry. I was 7 years old, Paul was my hero, LeBron the enemy. We were clearly the better team--not even the biggest Cavs fan doubted that. But LeBron was unstoppable. All series, he'd been killing us, even though Paul was playing valiantly. But this game, man... Paul dueled LeBron. The excitement of watching each impossible shot go in. Hating on LeBron each time he shot. Those free throws. For one night, the best player on the court was one of our guys. Our guy. Sure, the stats don't bear it out, but that night it felt like nothing was stopping Paul. Pullup. Bang. And again. Paul outdueled LeBron. Wow.
    Paul might not be the best player of all time, or anywhere close. But there's not a player I'd pick over him to go into a game, especially in sentimental moments such as now. Paul was Boston... he'd stuck with us through the thick and the thin. He was The Truth. How I wanted to play basketball.
    I love you, Paul. For all the happy times you brought. For this game. For always sticking with us. No player will ever come close to you in my eyes.
    Sincerely,
    All Boston Celtics fans born circa 2000

      @@michaelkirschner6009 Mo doesn’t need to be a pippen or gasol. Cavs were the best regular season squad for 2 years straight and lost in some tough competitive series vs Boston and Orlando. Bron quit and took east street. You wanna be the goat well there’s the path to be the goat. The rebuttal could’ve been “Bron did it without a Pippen or Gasol.” But no he orchestrated and continues to orchestrate these juggernaut super teams.

    • @OldChanCharlie
      @OldChanCharlie Před 3 lety

      @@michaelkirschner6009 sure he had a phenomenal series, no question. I meant that he quit on Cleveland by not leading them past that Boston hump. I don’t like that excuse either, Bron is a generational talent and he has pull with any organization. We’ve seen him land on teams and squads were completely shipped out in order to accommodate. There’s no doubt in my mind Bron could’ve said “Hey, these guys gotta go or else I’m outta here.” And things would’ve been much different. His second go around with Cleveland definitely demonstrated his pull within the organization.
