Lol, I never heard of corn hole until last year, and they said they were going to make it an Olympic sport. But I actually played it and got addicted to it.
Great routine by Bill Burr. The American Cornhole League is a real thing. People are going all around the country making thousands of dollars playing in cornhole tournaments. You guys play nice.
I can't help but think that the people who came up with "Cornhole" game actually knew the classic meaning of the word (See the Urban Dictionary) and managed to bamboozle the younger, impressionable people into adopting it as a "sport". I am impressed and appalled simultaneously.

This is a very Carlin-esque clip. I never made that connection before, but I totally see it.
The reason he makes so much sense in this bit is because... religion makes no sense. I often find it funny that a person's religion is so tightly bound to WHERE they were born or what family they were born INTO. Consider it, it is a regional way of thinking that is conditioned in to the younger generations. Asking well reasoned questions that cast even a little bit of doubt are shunned. Sometimes violently put down. Our world would be a better place if morality wasn't tied to some punishment/reward system that was designed as a social control mechanism.
If we didn't have our morality based on social machinations through faith, our humanity would disappear and we simply be relegated to animalistic nature.

@@BTAColorado I'm not going to have my morals based on tenets created by a man who was wrought with controversies. Especially a man, who at a young age was in fact Christian. He based his tenets on remnants of what he was taught as a kid. The Golden Rule is a universal concept based on texts from all religions. Regardless, religion be it created by men 50 years ago or 5000 years ago, has instilled a faith-based concept of morals to do good things.

@@BTAColorado There were perhaps times prior to the origin of religion when social groups had a sense of morality through cooperation. However, the social construct of religion allowed social groups to cooperate much better due to learning to restrain selfish needs for the collective. All in all, religion has allowed for more control even in the chaotic nature of this planet. Since we're social creatures, we crave a sense of order and structure, especially in the era we are living in now.
The concepts of religion, and even spirituality, have contained a much better ideal in how we as a whole race of humans can better assuage morality to fit the progress of modernity.

I actually remember reading "Dianetics" by L. Ron Hubbard back in the '70's. It wasn't as confusing as it was mostly vague. The more you sweep the faster and straighter and further the rock goes. Once you understand the rules it’s better to watch. Not crazy exciting except for very specific moments.
The first time I tried it I sent the rock flying through the target area. It weighs over 40 pounds and you got to be dialed in to get within 5 feet of the “button” . The pros will near bullseye that.

I have trouble with the Judeo-Christian god because of the thought crimes stuff. I have lived as a very humanitarian person. I've always done volunteer work, I've been there for my friends, I perform random acts of kindness whenever I can and my aspirations in life aren't greed-oriented. So what if my mind gets a little dirty sometimes? I made people's lives better and did far more good than harm. Back off, space wizard. Also if we're going to be judged, why couldn't god make it a little more clear what his standards are? I mean we fight full on wars over how we're supposed to be worshipping the same freaking deity. With the stakes being eternal reward/damnation, you'd think he'd take a second out of his day to clear some of this up I mean jeez. If you do believe in that stuff be honest: does the game ever feel just a little bit rigged to you?
Most of our thoughts are not generated on our own terms; so are they really within our ownership? I believe they are produced of their own sentience, by a relation of a motion that moves between the waves of oscillation. So if you do get crappy thought patterns, just recognize that they are separate from you. The only reason they feel like you is because they hone you in on them; therefore, they take up your scope and obscure your avenues to the brighter alternative.

If God were to negate or veto every wrong choice of Man it would invalidate Man’s ability to choose. *Man’s bad choices brought bad consequences that not only affected Mankind but his sin brought the earth under corruption.* The earth, from that time to the present, is corrupted by the effects of Man’s rebellion. The earth was radically changed from the paradise conditions originally created by God. As a result, global weather patterns, biological systems and organisms became hostile. God had entrusted the earth to Man and therefore anything under Man’s domain was affected by Man’s actions. Thus, natural disasters, which cause large amounts of suffering to people, are the result of Man’s rebellion against God, and for millennia God has been unjustifiably blamed for the consequences of Man’s actions. For example, insurance companies will classify nature related disasters as “acts of God” when in actuality they are “acts of Man” because the weather patterns and biological systems of the earth were corrupted by Man’s sin against God. *People interviewed after a disaster have often looked into the news camera and asked, “How could God let something like this happen?”*
*The answer is because God did not make Man as robots.* Man was given the ability and opportunity to choose with the inherent possibility that the wrong choice could be made. God had lovingly warned Man of the consequence of making the wrong choice but Man still chose to distrust God and the consequences persist to this day. That is, natural disasters and crimes against humanity still occurs world wide.
One of the most lethal and undetected diseases in society today is cancer. Every doctor will tell you that early detection is paramount to recovery or cure. *Well, Mankind has the “cancer” of a sin-nature he inherited from Adam that demands early detection for recovery and cure.* And if left undetected and untreated will result in that person’s spiritual death, which is eternal separation from God. *Fortunately, God gave Man the diagnostic tool for early detection (His Law) so that Man would acknowledge his sin and accept God’s remedy, which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.* In Matthew 7:27-28, Jesus amplified the fact that Man’s problem is not his actions, it’s his corrupted nature. He referred to the Law that said, “Thou shall not commit adultery,” but added that if you look upon a woman with lust in your heart, you have committed adultery already. Jesus was pointing out that the real corruption is inward, not outward; it’s our nature, not our actions that need changing. *So the remedy for the “cancer of sin” is not self-reformation or behaving correctly, the remedy is getting a new nature from God, birthed in us. Jesus said to a very religious and moral man, named Nicodemus, that unless he was born-again, he would not enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:3-21).*
That is, we need the spiritual birth that only comes through faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Believe Jesus is God in the flesh, who died on the cross to pay the penalty due Mankind for sin; that Jesus rose again from the dead; and ascended into heaven where He sits on the Throne of God. If you believe that, and respond by repenting of your sin (making a U-Turn in the road of life away from sin and toward Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior); and ask Jesus to forgive you of all your sins, you will be saved and have that born-again new nature birth in you.
Mankind fights against admitting we're sinful enough to deserve God's judgment. If God camouflaged or removed the negative consequences of our sins, Mankind would never see the results of sin or his own sinful acts; he would never come to a realization that a problem exists for which he was the cause. *He would continue to deny that he needed to accept Jesus and would be indignant that anyone would accuse him of being a sinner. And at the end of his life, he would come to shocking realization that he’s condemned because he never accepted God’s remedy for the sin-nature he was completely unaware of his entire life.* As was stated earlier in the first point, God allows the consequences of Man’s sin to unfold so that Man would realize (1) a problem exists (evil and suffering) and (2) he is the source of the problem (by his sin-nature).
Furthermore, God warns in His Word that there would be those who denied the existence of Man’s sin-nature and resultant sinful acts. God says people in such denial are deceived and implying God is a liar! Why? Because they’re willfully and directly contradicting God’s verdict on Man’s state and obvious evidence in the world that establishes the verdict; Man’s guilt is beyond all reasonable doubt. Listen to how God puts the matter in 1John 1:8-10, *“If we say that we have no sin [nature] we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us…If we say that we have not sinned [our sinful nature has not born any fruit], we make Him [i.e. God] a liar, and His word is not in us.”* So if Man claims that he does not posses a sin-nature, nor committed any sinful acts, as *C.S. Lewis states, “…pain shatters the illusion that all is well.” C.S. Lewis also said, pain "is His [God’s] megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”*
*So the conclusion of the matter is this: Man allowed sin (the cause of evil, pain and suffering) to enter the world and to enter into his nature when he rebelled against God. Obligated to honor the wrong choice, God let the consequences unfold to validate Man’s humanity and to keep alive the possibility of repentance as the means by which Man could be rescued from sin’s ultimate effect, eternal separation from God. And because living in a pain-free world would mask the existence of sin and the need to repent, it is better to experience temporary pain and suffering resulting in repentance and salvation than experiencing a pain-free existence unaware that you posses the “cancer” of sin-nature resulting in eternal pain and suffering for failing to repent. Thus, God makes use of the suffering He must allow in order to awaken Man to the existence and source of evil, pain and suffering (e.g., the “cancer” of sin in Man’s sin-nature) with the hope that Man would accept God’s remedy (Jesus the Messiah, Savior and Lord) for freedom from sin’s dominance and eternal consequences. And still preserve Mankind's ability to choose because without the exercise of free-will, any genuine love relationship is impossible with anyone, including God.*

Atheism asserts that God does not exist, or that one cannot be certain of God's existence, therefore, Mankind's existence is explained by Macro-Evolution. Thus, Mankind evolved from the elements of earth, through the properties of matter, chance, and time, undesigned. QUESTION: How can any atheist trust their own thoughts to be true?

Atheism asserts that God does not exist, or that one cannot be certain of God's existence, therefore, Mankind's existence is explained by Macro-Evolution. Thus, Mankind evolved from the elements of earth, through the properties of matter, chance, and time, undesigned. QUESTION: How can any atheist trust their own thoughts to be true?
C.S. Lewis, an Oxford professor and author, said, "Supposing there was no intelligence behind the universe, no creative mind. In that case, nobody designed my brain for the purpose of thinking. It is merely that when the atoms inside my skull happen, for physical or chemical reasons, to arrange themselves in a certain way, this gives me, as a by-product, the sensation I call thought. But, if so, how can I trust my own thinking to be true? It's like upsetting a milk jug and hoping that the way it splashes itself will give you a map of London. But if I can't trust my own thinking, of course I can't trust the arguments leading to Atheism, and therefore have no reason to be an Atheist, or anything else. Unless I believe in God, I cannot believe in thought: so I can never use thought to disbelieve in God."
*C.S. Lewis did not assert nobody can trust their own thoughts. He's saying, an atheist cannot trust their own thoughts, if they remain true to the presuppositions of atheism.* Namely, their brain, arose from undesigned randomness. Under those presuppositions, an atheist has no basis for trusting their own thoughts. There is abundant evidence for God's existence: "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard." (Psalm 19:1-3) "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:20)
