I have almost same exact car. Glass packs eventually got on my nerves so switched to turbo style mufflers and resonators, much more pleasant. Also adding a crossover pipe or x pipe gives a better sound.
@@johnmcmullen456 Longest glasspacks you can fit, mounted at the end by the bumper, and running it cooler with a 160 t-stat will make sure it doesn't burn out over time and get too loud. And, add a H-pipe. It'd sound real mean like that.

Had a 78 chevy step side with an olds 350 rocket, long tube headers, burnt out glass packs. Truck sounded nasty, could hear it across town. Had to coast by the cops

It’s even good to add two more adding in the middle of the car or the back or in the front where the headers are as seen a lot of people say it does tremendous working on the tone . 🔧

Cold blooded 4 barrel carb.. lol
It is a carbureted car. You have to warm it up before it idle smoothly. Owned 4 cars when I was younger that had carbs. Had to let the car run for at least 4 minutes in the winter to warm up or it will die on you when you put it in drive.

That's the advantage fuel injection has over carburetors. Fuel injection works when cold and carburetors are setup to run at operating temperature

Try doing a muffler delete first. You're not gonna like the straight pipe. It gets annoying after some time
