  • Welcome back to DieseJL! Today on the channel Lisa shows you how to program your Jeep HomeLink (or any HomeLink) to your garage door.
In our case, both the Jeep and the garage door opener were new. The door opener in this case is a LiftMaster 8500W. The process is simple - take the garage door opener into the Jeep and press and hold both buttons at the same time (with the Jeep on) until the light on the HomeLink console flashes slowly or goes solid. Some openers will require you to program the Jeep to your opener, but that depends on what opener you have.
    Some other tricks -
Push and hold HomeLink buttons 1&3 to clear any other doors it was paired with.
Your door WILL OPEN (or close) during the initial programming process.
You can also program a HomeLink button to toggle your light!

I have an Overhead Door model 4040L. After programming the remote to the Home link button of choice, I had to put the opener in program mode to learn the homelink button. That was the only difference. But worked otherwise. FYI, been following your channel for about 6 months now.
    Ok kind of funny story....
In February my wife and I ordered a Rubicon gasser. I had really contemplated the diesel. After watching your videos I really wanted to get the diesel. So on April break while in Florida I ordered another one, this time in diesel. Our plan was to buy the gasser, drive it till the diesel came in, possibly take a bit of a loss, then grab the diesel.
In the meantime, I had been chatting with Jeep to find out the status of each order. This past Thursday the rep said, "good news both of your Jeeps have been delivered!". My response was " both of them?". Yep.
So needless to say, we just picked up the diesel yesterday. Worked out way better than expected. And this diesel is so cool. Sorry for the long post. Anyways, thanks for your videos!

thank you for the video. Ive been using the manuals and couldnt get it to work. I never understood from the written instructions you had to do both the remote and the opener itself. I was under the impression when connecting the remote it was copying it. I now understand its just copying the code, giving it the ability to program to the opener. Thanks again 👋

Question: @0:25 You say Push and Hold this Button. For those of us who do not have your particular garage door remote, Which button are you pushing on the garage door remote? I see it is the large button but I can't see what that button is called.
