Hollow Knight - How to Make Fragile Charms Unbreakable

- The Leg Eater is an NPC that will sell Fragile Charms in the Fungal Wastes. These charms are super useful (especially the fragile strength). The only problem is that if you die with one of the fragile charms equipped, the charm will break and you have to go all the way back to the Leg Eater to repair the charm which costs Geo.
This video will show you how to make the fragile charms unbreakable in Hollow Knight.
Requirement:
Have the dream nail
Dream nail will require vengeful spirit, shade cloak, mantis claw and the desolate dive or lumafly lantern.

For anyone who has fragile charms be careful, if you are gonna banish Grimm make sure all your charms have been made unbreakable before you do so. If you banish Grimm and you still have fragile charms, they stay fragile and you can no longer make them unbreakable because devine will be gone. I made that mistake by banning grimm to early and was left with useless charms and too much geo.

Howling Cliffs. Keep hitting all the walls until you find a dead bug with a red cloak. Dreamnail it, return to the other room with the lantern, and keep hitting it until it ignites.

Quick thing to help fellow grinders:
Use the Gathering swarm charm with the Fragile Greed to make getting geo far easier
Use both charms and just walk around killing every living being on sight
It’s definitely a hard thing to figure out at first. But when your just about to get your new charm, you realize that you didn’t save up your geo 😂
Yeah, I remember I have her the greed charm on accident my first time. I was so upset
Extra tip, if anyone still needs it (and doesn't wanna suffer througg the trial of the fool lol): a good place to farm geo is the failed tramway. With the greed charm, if you wait for the carver hatchers to spawn all 5 dirtcarvers you can get 552 geo per run ^-^
That kinda helps but just by walking around the map and killing every living being on sight while using Gathering Swarm and Fragile Greed gives thousands and thousands of Geo

Tip: so this is semi a spoiler but If you go to Melody the banker and give her a certain amount of geo then she will take it and the maximum you can give her is 4500 and when you find her in the city of tears in a certain location I can’t remember where you’re gonna have to look it up and then you can quite literally beat the geo out of her +50% interest
yeah you can turn that 4.5k into like 7k really easily

So glad this is here! Until recently, I didn't know you could upgrade these to be unbreakable, so I just never used the charms because I was afraid they would permanently break. I die a lot and this game is so punishing that I thought that was what would happen, lol. Thanks!!!
Thanks for these great videos man. I started playing 2 years back but stoped once I couldn't get past some bosses and I just don't have to patience I find to find out every little thing for myself. with these video I can still enjoy and finish the game I think, I'm already further that last time in half the playtime.

Theres a shortcut to howling cliffs right at the start. go to where you spawn then go to the left then above the geo use mantis claw and dash to go up into the howling cliffs. This is how I first discovered them

Tip: if you’re later in the game, do the trials of the fool on repeat since it gives 1000-3000 geo based on the trial you do

I didn't use Fragile Greed and I can probably upgrade at least two of them since I already have over 20,000 geo.
I might give her Fragile Greed first so I can use Unbreakable Greed to get the rest.

Unbreakable heart and strength upped my boss game along with quick slash. I was able to finally to beat Enraged Guardian, The Watchers and Hive Knight. Now I'm looking for the simple key for the junkyard and another charm notch so I can use the three charms I mentioned AND the wayward compass.
I know how to make the charms unbreakable, but I'm watching the video anyway haha. Keep up the good work Relyea

The only one I upgraded so far was the fragile strength, I have so much geo and not much to spend it on, I dont know if I want to try the Coliseum of fools, I heard that was hard, finally completing the white palace after a day and many tears 😂😂 was stressful enough.
the CoF was super hard for me. I needed all the upgrades before I was able to do it.
And I recommend you upgrade the fragile strength 1st so you can do the other 2 levels of the coliseum of fools so you can get more geo and possibly pale ore and a charm notch.

Anytime you feel like you're going to die just quit out to main menu, you will spawn at the last bench you rested at and you're fragile charm never breaks, although you will lose the souls you acquired unless you last rested at a hot spring its still worth it.
For farming geo highly reccomend doing colloseum of fools 1-2 they give you 1-2k each time you beat it

What I did was get greed upgraded before the others because if you die with it as fragile, it gets lost and you have to go back. Since I grinned at the colosseum of fools, it was a long way back.
I was about to give all three, good thing I'm going to hang on to the greed one 😅
It's funny you uploaded this, cause I've been trying to figure out an issue I gave myself.
So, I gave her the fragile strength and I was saving up the 15k to upgrade it, but in the midst of me saving up I ended up mindlessly completing The Grimm Troupe by banishing Grimm and now they're gone.
Did I just lose my charm forever?? Lol.
This is a form of compliment, I promise.
But those shades, mustache, and "flames of fire" made me think of the movie Dodgeball.

That is the charm thorns of agony. It just attacks the enemies back once you get hit. Not the best but has some uses as a one slot charm. Or at least I hope that is what you are talking about lol.

I upgraded the fragile greed first, then it was safe to use for harvesting more geo to upgrade the rest of the charms
Coliseum of fools fight 2 (the 1 that gives pale ore) is good farm btw

Not related to the video, but does the shade take more damage to retrieve as you get further into the game? Mine takes 3 vengeful spirit shots/5 (coiled) nail hits to beat.
hella late answer, but yes. at the very beginning of the game, it takes two old nail hits to retrieve, i believe as you learn spells (and so it does too) it gets stronger?? i could be wrong about that being the dependant condition, though.
