- There are some charm combinations that cause new things to happen that you may not have known. In this video I go over every new charm interaction in Hollow Knight and what happens.

There's also sort of a combo with Gathering Swarm and Dreamshield. What happens is that if any of the Swarm flies hit the shield it makes a little *clink* sound

Fun fact: with the fury of the fallen build, if you find lifeblood it gives you three more health, but still registers you at being at one health. Therefore having sort of an "insurance policy"

Using grub song + grubberfly’s elegy + deep focus gives you basically unlimited healing if you just heal every 2 masks you lose. It’s great for long winded platforming challenges and it probably the only reason I made it through the white palace.

Hiveblood works, except for those times where you mess up midair and get hit by a wingmould into thorns or buzzsaws. Have that happen too many times and you die anyways. The above combo works better. It also doesn't make you wait 10 seconds every time you mess up, which can feel like forever when you're practicing on your first run through.@@leadnose6728

Idk if it was said, but the Shaman Stone not only powers up your spells, but the Vengeful Spirit/Shade Soul is bigger, and the Flukes are also bigger as well.
It costs way too many notches for me. And it just drains my soul faster. I would take mark of pride over it ANY DAY

To add on to the fury of the fallen set, before you put on mark of pride, put on long nail first, then overcharm to put on mark of pride, and since you’d be at one health anyways, there’s no reason not to be overcharmed
If you have both deep focus and grubsong on you just barely get enough soul after two hits to heal two masks with the deep focus, this is what got me through the Kings Palace. I didn't know the Gruberfly charm increased the soul from grubsong, that probably would've helped me before lol

For me the Fury of the Fallen build helped A LOT during The Failed Champion on Ascended
A great combination of charms are Deep Focus with Grubsong, the life that you loose, you can recover very easily, it is great for places where there is not so many monsters to heal from souls, the combination is perfect for the White Castle....
You can collect infinite sould by striking the void-flies again and again

New to the game but super into it. I know if you add grubberfly effigy to joni's blessing you can have effigy active at all times, so I'm guessing with full charm notches you can add hive blood and have health regen on top of that.

If you mix Shape of Unn with Quick+Deep Focus you'll heal 2 masks at normal heal speed, but your form doesn't lose its substantial speed upgrade from QF. Amazing.

@@justas423 2+3+4=9. If you have full notches, you'd have 2 still open. Many possibilities on what could fill the gap.
If you didn't know about the last two notches, I'd recommend searching the Hollow Knight Wiki for the ones you missed. I think one of them's from Troupe Leader Grimm.

Now you have a mini army of spiders and explosive hatchlings that will do the job for you. And if you want more power and speed, just add: Shaman stone + sprintmaster to the mix

the only issue i have is getting out of my shell and using charms other than quick focus, grubsong, thorns of agony, and spore shroom. also, when exploring is the setup of wayward compass, gathering swarm, and spore shroom kinda good?
With the madlad combo you can add another charm and be overcharged because it doesn't matter if you take double damage because you are at 1 health and it will also let you get down to one health faster
Stuff I use:
Dream shield (+ the dream crest thingie) this is a surprisingly good defense and offensive bost, for 3-4 notches, which is fun to learn how to use by synching with it's movement. only downside is that it can get diatracting.
Silksong + grubbsong: Look, I was using grubbsong before I found silk song, but as soon as I realized the power of the combo I was completely in love. Little apidera who will deal modest damage to enemies while collecting soul. They even collect soul from enemies and bosses that don't give you soul through nail strikes. And now you have an excuae to use sprintmaster ao you can move at a decent pace. Love these guys.
Sharp shadow + dashmaster: This combo has carried me through several bosses. Dealing damage when dosging all but doublea your attack rate, hence your damage, but pushing that up to 150% per dash, and the fact that you can now quickly get in range after each dosge, this combo is amazing.
Fast focus + shape of unn: Want to heal in a boss fight, but keep getting interrupted? try fast focus, if that doesn't work, add shape of unn, and while 5 notches is a lot, the ability to heal and dodge simoultaniously lets you endure anything. The spees added to shape of unn turns if from an ok charm to an epic one.
Dashmaster + sprintmaster: You won't long for stag stations everywhere because you move so fast it's juat fun. You'll barely use the cryatal heart when you have this, except to spare yourself spamming the dash button.
LARGER COMBOS
fragile/unbreakable strength + quick slash + stalwart shell. Keep dying to a boss? Just make it die faster than you.
Grubberfly's elgy + grubbsong + weaversong: keep at max hp by keeping your distance, and should you take a hit you get tons of soul to heal on topp of your little spiders collecting all the time. Works well with quick focus, dream shield, or hive blood if you like.
Mark of pride is also a must have for the last large combo because you can even get more soul if you get hit and that means more healing and more air slash and more range

Wayward compass is the only charm confirmed by the game to canonically have the ability to talk.

About the dream shield one, it does recharge faster

@@certifiedtealeaf its fine, though it would be nice at least to have that be the case. same situation with joni's and hiveblood, it only regens one mask and doesn't continue past that like normal. shame really, that'd open up a lot of options for gameplay styles. out of curiosity, what's your favorite style with charms?
@@ColetheFlame01 I completely agree on the fact that more gameplay styles would be possible with your suggestions, though I suppose it might be a little over-powered, but especially considering both of those charms cost 4 notches they might not be that powerful. Anyway, the charms that i pretty much always use are: sharp shadow(which I only took of for PoP & white palace), shamans, (u.) strength and mark of pride+ void heart if i have it, it's mainly a nail focused build because I don't find myself spamming/using spells a lot, but I throw shamans in there because DDark is kinda OP in most boss battles and abyss shriek deals a TON of damage to enemies above you, plus I don't feel comfortable with using a completely nail focused build & sharp shadow.
@@certifiedtealeaf I agree on the charm thing. as for me I enjoy two playstyles. one I call Summon Spam/Minion Swarm: Weaversong, Grubsong, Sprintmaster, Glowing Womb, Grimmchild, add whatever you can squeeze it to fill the remaining couple notches. the other build I call the bullying build. Mark of Pride, Quickslash, Steady body, Nailmaster's Glory, Shaman Stone for broken spell damage if you need to rapidly kill a boss even faster. I love how much Steady body is laughed at yet its insanely good for one notch. its not asking much of the player.

Tips for fighting Nightmare King Grimm:
Forget about any nail / spell buff. Focus more on healing. Heal when NKG does his flame pillar and fire bats attack. Use these charms:
Quick focus - faster heal for 1 mask
Deep focus - longer heal for 2 masks
Shape of Unn - allow you to move and heal during fire bats attack
Here's how the combo balances out:
Quick focus and shape of unn will make you move and heal too fast, you might run into NKG or stand up before the fire bats attack ends. Equipping deep focus into the mix will return movement and heal speed to normal when healing. Since deep (slow, 2 masks) and quick (fast, 1 mask) is equipped, it'll heal at normal speed for 2 masks. The time is just enough to dodge fire bats and heal 1 time after the fourth fire pillar.
When fighting NKG, he's not inviting us to fight. He wants us to dance. So take it slow, one hit at a time, dodge. And when he finishes his fourth fire pillar or when he's about to launch the fire bats attack, HEAL. I'm pretty bad at dodging NKG's attacks but this build allows me to have a winning chance by surviving in an endurance battle.

There's also Deepfocus + Quick Focus.
Deep Focus allows you to heal two masks, but slower. When combined with Quick Focus, you can still heal two masks, but without the delay
I used these on NKG the first time. It was super helpful
but wayward compass still better

I like to tank damage and deal heavy nail damage. Soul is basically just for heals. I run right now quickslash, longnail, mark of pride, and unbreakable strength. Pretty basic but I just love using the nail. I have found that if I just throw caution to the wind I can get through a lot of fights better than if I planned methodically using spells.
Hiveblood + Joni's Blessing also doubles the time it takes to regenerate the mask (from 10s to 20s total)

Fun facts: I think most people knew this already...
I forgot which charms was it either life blood core or heart or joni's blessings.
It is either one of the 3. If you equip it... The blob bloods will run towards you and will follow you closely instead of running away when you hit the blob vessels.

5:00 if you get to a lifeblood cocoon, it will give you extra masks, but will keep the fury of the fallen effect (if you are at 1hp before you hit the cocoon). so you basically have all that damage and like 5 hp. really good for pantheon of hallownest where after every section you get a good amount of lifeblood (as long as you can get through the first part hitless).

5:24 u can pair with lifeblood charm or any lifeblood to still get the bonus at 1 mask but have 2 life blood masks so its op if u have like 5 life blood masks
I have one you missed. Quick Focus and Deep Focus together make it so you you heal as fast as you do with no charms but gain two masks.

@@MK_Dany Yep, 7" is a lot. Difficult to find a space in the pants for it, not to mention such a large Nail can be pretty lethal in action. Girls (or boys if you like it) should be careful with it tho. I heard it's worse than Colosseum of Fools. Really bad and painful experience.

The Wayword compass is so amazing that it even guided me to this video even tho it was published an year ago.
i have a really good charm setup for hen i need to do a lot of traveling - waywad, gathering swarm, dash master, sprint master, quickslash (sometimes swap this out for quick focus or unbreakable strength) and spore shroom makes things so much faster especially if you have to get from oneside of the map to the other
The wayward compass makes the radiance only do one damage when you combine it with the dreamshield

This video really helped. When I play, my strategy is wayward compass and gathering swarm. If you don’t know it, you will get a shield of primal aspids, and a inner shell of god masters. I had to pay 30$ for the wayward compass dlc, and then another 30$ for gathering swarm. As a bonus, wayward compass makes your nail the size of hallownest, it gives you the purest of pure super pure nail, and finally allows you to rule hallownest.

I normally use a build I like to call “spell eater”.
Use:
-longnail (not mark of pride)
-spell twister
-soul eater
-shaman stone
This build is good for those who like to use the “nail+spell” combo. You can do this infinitely as long as you keep attacking an enemy (highly recommended for bosses)
Would this be usable for radiance? I have been looking for a good radiance combo as I just finished my first run and want to defeat radiance.
@@beehive_ it depends if you are good at hitting the hitbox. The charm combo is only good against stationary bosses. But I would recommend trying it with Radiance.
