You don't want to %100 rely on the discrimination, especially when the ground has a lot of ferrous mineralization and the signal is weak. I go by the tone and general sound of the response as much as anything. With enough experience with it you'll be a Jedi.
Yeah, Arizona is big time mineralization and lots of hot rocks. That doesn't include any trash left by the old timers and the hidden gold and coins buried under the fire pits.

The hot rocks are bad there around Mayer. Was in the area until just a few days ago.
