    Good video Matt. It's nice having 2 machines. I have the Fisher Gold Bug 2 and the Garrett AT Gold. The GB2 is so sensitive that you can't do an air test with your bare hand. The AT Gold is a good one too and has the ID screen and I use it for Gold and relics. Both machines have an affordable price range. Thanks for sharing. 🇺🇸👍😎⛏

    Try the 10X5 coil by coiltek. That’s what we use in the west Australian goldfields (when not using pulse induction)
    The 6” biscuit is my next choice for anywhere mineralised, the 11” has Too large of a sampling area to get decent penetration through iron rich country.

    So would you recommend the 800 or similar NM “Legend” for hunting tiny creek gold like we have in NC? Or should I stick with a GM1000 or GoldFinder 2000 which actually uses 61kHz? I’m wondering if I will be ok with a multi-frequency machine that stops at 40khz or do I really need something higher and tuned more specifically for gold. The multi-purpose aspect interests me alot, but my primary use will be for creek detecting for gold.

    • @MountaineerMatt
      @MountaineerMatt  Před 2 lety +1

      The GM1000 will likely be better at finding smaller gold compared to a multipurpose machine. A multi purpose machine gives you more options of what you can hunt, but will require much more setting adjustments when hunting for gold. It really comes down to your budget and what you think you'll be doing most with your detector 👍

    No the gold monster gos better on manual mode deep and sensitivity on 8 or on 6 if it’s very mineralised and ground balance it by moving it up and down and moving it around not ground balancing it in the one spot up and down . But it has automatic 2 is even more sensitive then where you had it set on auto 1 not as sensitive or deep

    • @johnbowman476
      @johnbowman476 Před 11 měsíci

      Exactly, some flaws in this comparison. Auto 2 and manual 8 are more sensitive on the gm. I mostly run on auto 2 and switch to manual after locating a target so I don't auto ground balance it out if I'm not using a pinpointer. The gm while being a basic unit has some unique characteristics. They seem to be in demand still and I could sell my gm used for what I paid for it new. I would like to see a better comparison because the nox 800's sell used for a few hundred less than a used gm here in the US. My biggest issue is trying to avoid digging junk, mostly lead bullets and the number readouts are easier for me than determining the sound differences.

    How’s it going Matt the gold monster and the equinox 800 our great machines you need to get the 6 inch coil for the Equinox I think the equinox discriminate is alot better put the horseshoe button on and it will throw you a negative number on-Ferriss metal I found stuff with the 6 inch coil that won’t even read on a scale extremely small👍🇺🇸

    • @MountaineerMatt
      @MountaineerMatt  Před 2 lety

      I was thinking about turning the iron tones on after the test. I'll probably do another air test without the iron discrimination. Do you think the 6" coil would be more sensitive than the 12"? It's just so hard to cover ground with the smaller coils in the old hydro pits. The smaller coil is great in between rocks and crevices though. Thanks for the info!
