DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated. - Zábava
Good morning. Thanks for the overall take on the kit. I built this one a couple of years back as a research kit and paint tester for a 1/16 scale RC version of the StuG Ausf lllB. It struck me then what a great and easy build it was. Looks amazing under paint and markings and with the figure added and hatches open to show the interior. The gun breech and sights\controls were a four color paint job all by themselves.
Nice one, I’m destined to get this kit, surprisingly little info on it so thanks for the in depth look at it 👍
No problem! Hope you enjoy it :)
Good review. Thanks.
I’ll have to put this Tamiya StuG on my long list of must haves.
Love the winterketten! There’s something about a StuG wearing winterketten, it’s almost a must have.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you! And I agree, the low profile combined with wide tracks is very cool. I've got a StuH 42 that I have some ostketten for, and I look forward to that one.
Looks great can't wait to see it painted!
Thank you very much! I'll do a full standard weathering procedure video on this one.
very nice, i like the changes you did here. I built the kit some years ago and i can confirm most of what you have pointed out.
Thank you Michael! Will you have to build it again for your T-34 & StuG diorama thingy?
Nice vid I have bought and sold this kit twice, I may buy it again when I see how yours turns out
Love these post build reviews. Did you ever do a video of painting this kit - I can't seem to find one?
I've partially painted it. It's sitting on the shelf of doom right now. I had some decal issues that made me lose motivation...but I will finish it some day.
Thank you for posting this video. I just ordered one of the kits. Your putting the spare road wheels on the model made look for some reference photos. I found one photo similar to how you have your mounted. On the real StuG how were these attached. Also I found a couple of photos where the spare road wheels are laying on their sides on the fenders. It appears they aren’t secured in anyway.
Your video will help me when I do my kit. Still deciding on which paint brand to use. Definitely will be in Dunkelgrau.
Cheers,
Larry
Nice review I plan on building a strumgeschutz Ausf L. thinking about using the academy kit with the zimmerit decal any suggestions about replacing the rubber band tracks what to use ? always enjoy your posts before I started viewing your channel I had not a clue about German armour thanks for all the info Bruce
Brill review ev ! I really want to build mine now. !! Hope you are all ok
Tamiya are the best in my opinion. I used to build their rc cars when I was younger. You can't go wrong with Tamiya kits. I still have their Enterprise in my cupboard waiting to be built.
Great that Tamiya included some pe and a metal barrel. All too often we have to buy aftermarket sets which pushes the price up yet higher. I’ve just started their type 10 and sadly it comes with mosquito netting. Wtf. Such a nice manufacturer yet they shoot themselves in the foot sometimes. Good overview Evan.
Thank you Mark! Yes, I don't get the reason for that mosquito netting stuff, it looks horrible in the end lol
Super video, I found you true Panzerpicture.
nice review, thanks
I finished this one about a month ago. I added the Verlinden engine/compartment. The Verlinden set is made for the older Tamiya stugs. Fit was terrible. The fit of the Stug kit is very good.
Good review.
Nice video, I am about to build this kit and I want some photo references, where do you find them? I mean is it just Google photos or do you have a site that actually has some photos from ww2? Cheers.
Nice review of a very nice kit but can't believe you didn't mention the working suspension :-O lol
Thank you! Lol, barely working suspension...just the front and rear wheels so I figured it'd just something left over from a motorized kit or something. I just glued them all down.
Confused......I'm sure the one I built had spring loaded suspension on all the road wheels!!!.....I will check later this evening.
CW Modelling it is just the four metal spring bits that attach to the front and back. The rest of the suspension kind of lays there. It is what I would call 1/2 working suspension. Built this kit a few years ago and wasn't disappointed but also wasn't blown away. Can't wait to see it painted and weathered Evan!
Nice review.I just built this kit,I notice a gap between superstructure around where the bolt cutters are.Is this accurate?Same thing my build and others I have seen built.
Yes the gap is there on the real thing.
im thinking of getting this but should i use a paintbrush to paint it or a spray can? because with the edges i feel ike it would be harder to spray paint but it would take a longer time with a paintbrush so which do you think is best? or maybe should i just get the hetzer
Nice review. I've got a question. Just what's holding the folding part of the left fender? On the real vehicle this is attached to the fender that is gone ?
It's attached on with a small lock that's meant to keep it from singing up. I've based this off of a photo with the exact same fender situation, so I guess it's just hanging on barely.
Panzermeister36. I'd definitely say it's "just hanging on" !!! LOL! Well when you have photographic evidence then it's hard to contest it. I'm happy to hear that you're basing it on a photo. I can't wait to see more of it. Great job on the Stug. I'm a big fan of them myself.
Excellent build review. Is there anyway you can share the photograph you are workng from? Is this for a group build? Thanks! Johnnyb
I'll see what I can do. I'll try for a link since I don't own the rights to the photo so I can't use it in the video itself.
Nice Build man. How About some wiring for the lights?
That's a good idea for an easy improvement. I'll see what I can do!
What knife is that Evan, I'm thinking of replacing mine....is it a good one?
Excellent review mate!
Hi Jan! I bought it at Michael's (craft store chain here) because I lost my old no.11 hobby knife. It's pretty comfy though, and has a little weight to it so I like it. Here it is:

Do you have any photos of the finished kit?
I am building the tamiya m60a1 its looking real nice
Very nice!
does the stug has handles so you can open the hatches on top from outside by the crew? I think I remember my dragon stug III B to have them
I mention it because i can not see them on your tank
Hmm well I have seen those handles before on reference photos, they were not standard but rather a common crew modification.
how does this compare to the older dragon stug ausf b (number 6008)? I bought one recently without knowing its age.
The Tamiya kit is superior, but they're both nice kits. The Dragon kit will have individual link tracks but on sprues which can take time.
@@Panzermeister36 Thanks for your reply, I was a bit worried because I've hear that old dragon kits often have severe issues. I look forward to building it.
Great video again. Could you (if you haven't already) do a video on weathering and chipping a panzer grey video please? Thanks again
Just found your video on the panzer iii great!
I'll be doing another video on Panzer grey very soon too!
Panzermeister36 thank you very much
Your videos are a great help to me
Thank you, I'm very glad to hear that :)
What about those strange suspensions? I'm just working on those.... it's very unusual for Tamiya suspensions.
They should be workable but they just fall of.
I just glued them straight with tamiya extra thin cement. The workable spring gimmick is only relevant if you plan a diorama for it.
I built this kit some years ago, I think Tamyia has the best kits, they are not as complicated as other manufactures but Tamiya kits have very nice details and are very easy to build. Thanks for this review. BTW veryy nice build.
When your done with it can you have your stug beside the refference pictiore?
I'll see what I can do. I'll post something in the weathering video when I make it.
Panzermeister36 thank you !!!!
Hey by chance do you know what Fruilmodel tracks I should get for this kit? Just wondering and thanks in advance
Friulmodel ATL-03 is what you're looking for. Alternatively, ATL-04 would also work, but they are a slightly later type. I'm sure I've seen them on this vehicle type, but only on vehicles that survived in Russia after winter 1941/42.
@@Panzermeister36 thanks! Hoping to see you put out some more content in the near future. I've always enjoyed Stugs and your channel
Thank you. It will be coming soon. I've just been busy recently as I graduated university, moved out, and am now looking for an aerospace engineering job.
@@Panzermeister36 congrats! That's awesome! I'm just coming back to the hobby and have always loved Stugs. I have probably around 20 Stug kits waiting to be built
Why is the gun crooked? Is it an issue with the kit?
No, the gun can traverse side to side on the real vehicle, so I did that here. The kit allows you to rotate and elevate the gun.
What are those little S hooks on the fenders?
Those are used to connect tow cables to the tow brackets on the hull.
What brand tracks do you have on the model?
+Robert Miller Dragon Models spare winterketten.
is this a snap together or do it need glue
You use glue for these kits
@@Panzermeister36 thank you
Would like to see you paint this
I'll have a full painting and weathering video on this one soon!
I look forward to seeing it and thank you for taking the time to reply.
Do you buy your models online?
I buy them in my local shop or from online Canadian retailers
You ever paint this?
It's based in grey and decals applied.
for a tool that is from 1995 (its molds) i'd say its pretty damn good
+Claes Wikberg yeah, the kit is excellent, and it's older than me...
@@Panzermeister36 way to make me feel old -73 ;)
Is it really a fair review when you change parts ?
Yes - it shows what I recommend one do to the kit to improve it. These reviews are focused on the builder, so I show what I felt was good about the kit, what was bad about it, and what I recommend one do to improve it. Otherwise it wouldn't be a very helpful review...I'd just be stating issues without showing any solution to them!
You should be prepared to do something to a kit other than just follow the instructions like a zombie...otherwise are you a modeller or just an assembler?
First :S
Lame
Ok
