Commentators always say how Serena has to play her top game against Maria and how much she respects Maria as a competitor, this woman says Maria is in bold print at the top of Serena’s Hit LIST. Now all of this might be true but I NEVER hear talk about How much Maria respects Serena’s game or how she has to play her best against her. Who is at the Top of Maria’s hate to lose list? I am thinking Serena owns that whole List.
Who cares what they say, when we check the facts pull out the papers , it’s like 20-2 .. head to head.

@monty niranjan great comparison. You know what you’re talking about! But don’t forget, the times I’ve seen her lose to OSaka, the serve was always off a slight bit. Not horrible serving, but not really making the amount of first serves she’d like and then just starting off the point on the defense with too many second serves which then gives Naomi too many options during the point. On the other hand, Naomi’s serving is flawless when she beats her. Agree?
@monty niranjan It would be more equal. I’ve always said that if it were like tie break game where you play off the feed there are plenty of women that can hit with her. The only problem is that, many of the hard hitters on the women’s tour are slow.
I hate how they act like Maria was a formidable opponent and Serena has to be super locked in and on her A game to win. Serena is just that much better. Her C game can beat Maria on her best day. The match up is bad. Maria was a one trick pony...just power, no athleticism, no variety, no finesse, no defense, no tennis IQ, no where near as mentally tough. Her power just didn't phase Serena as she grew up training with Venus. I think Serena actually loved playing Maria because she knew there is nothing she could do to beat her. And the fact that Maria couldn't even make this match more competitive when Serena was post baby at her age is laughable.

I know she does, but tennis is so demanding; therefore, she has to practice to make herself PERFECT again. She even said, she needs to practice more. Because all her opponents have been practicing and playing nonstop all year. So she has to give TENNIS her full attention for one year. Apparently your hearing is challenged. Many players on both the ATP and WTA tours make plenty of noise when hitting the ball. Tennis is an easy sport to follow with the volume down. The game points are quickly displayed on the screen.
