Because of the Ally, I got to play Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball and The Guy Game once again. This is just the beginning, will be receiving a loaded hdd of games coming!

Thanks for the video, I've been thumbing on whether to get the steam deck or the rig ally. I have a ton of games that I dumped so I can play them on my pc so being able to play all of them on the Ally will be great plus being able to pretty much play everything else from xbox to playstation, steam and more, it'll be the perfect device. I've seen from boards that people prefer the steam deck as it shows you what games actually work on the device. Would be cool if the rog ally had that so that it takes the testing out of it but it's windows 11 so should be able to run everything.
Does the 4tb one work with the rog ally, and can you have it connected while also docked to a monitor or tv?
Got one a couple of days ago over a steam deck. I rarely get access to the consoles now as the kids take them up. Initially, being largely a console player with a bit of pc on the side with the laptop, i didn't like it. It's take a lot of time to set up and it's a bit annoying at the start but once its all done it's totally worth it. Love it! The only thing that was disappointing was the fact the ps remote play app doesnt recognise the controller, you have to plug a dualsense in there, which kind of defeats the object of handheld but thats on Sony rather Asus I guess.

On the Ally, did you try disabling the build in controller from the Armory crate menu so that you’re wireless one would be player one?

I do not see how there are other CZcamsrs who say that this gaming pc handheld is not actually a gaming pc handheld. The way you were playing those games made it look like this pc is definitely worth buying. I want to buy this thing so I can hook it up on my big screen tv and play with it.

Honestly if you're just going to hook it up to a tv, id build your own SFF pc. It will be many times more powerful for the same price or you can get the same performance for half the price.
careful though its not compatible with some TV. It works fine on any computer monitor with hdmi though.
Looks impressive but it depends on how many RPGS and if they are Japanese or local. I am hoping for a plug and play that handles exclusives translated to English and hopefully one day they might bring one out. Doesnt have to be RPGS but a range of games. The others are a mild interest at best(Not a shogi fan) but getting the RPGS esp. PC engine CD AND PS1 are a def must for a collector like myself
Good way around that is realtime translation. there are ways to get it working for a game onm windows. just takes some time of course

Luckily for me I have the rog ally and had no issues with the micro card slot. So that good but I would do what you did because I want one of those to play on the tv on the go.

Maybe it's just me but I don't understand these builds with 5,000 collections. Seems like they just do it to fluff up the amount of things you're getting. I'm not sitting here wondering where those Kaneko or Galeco games are. Hell, I couldn't even tell you what games those companies made.
And then there's the amount of titles you are getting. It's garbage for a 1 TB SD card. On the bigger end systems you're getting 5 games here, 7 games there. I made my own 1 TB build for my Steam Deck. I have complete sets of every 16-bit system and below and then I have over 40 Gamecube games, over 150 Dreamcast games, over 100 PlayStation games, over 90 PlayStation 2 games, over 2,000 Mame and over 2200 Final Burn Neo games, etc, etc. No repeats. I have over 15 Steam games installed on the same card also including GTA V, and I still have over 20 GB free, so what the heck are they doing with all that space available on their 1 TB card?? Certainly not optimizing it for its fullest potential. Just a lot of flashy lights and sparkly glitter to make it seem impressive.

Yeah I am pretty sure there is a ton of wasted space. Adding these to an SD card is not a problem. I think the main appeal is plug and play and the menu system looks nice.. not sure how they made the menu setup?
If we saw this in the 90s what handheld gaming was capable of, with emulation we wouldn't have had no idea we'd be able to play "SNES and Genesis even PS1 on the go".
Especially playing those systems on our phones which is wild.

Got a 1tb SanDisk SD card as a temporary solution till after new years when post offices reopen and I'll order a 4tb full size SSD with a M2 to m.2 90 degree transfer board

Are there cards or hard drives out there, similar to this, that are builds configured for Mac M1/M2? Or Steamdeck? I am sure there is a forum out there somewhere. But having kids pretty much takes away time for tinkering. I have usually 15min to 30 min free to myself and having a build for my MacBook or Steamdeck would be super helpful.
The steam deck build is 320 bux. I'm sure it's great but it's overpriced. Not to mention all the "games" are available over the Internet. It's a no go for me.

That's pricey. I don't understand all these guys curating collections and then selling them for that much, profiting a ton off of other people's IP. It's not hard to find your own ROMS and organize them (plus it's fun). Plus good luck weeding through 13,000 games, that's pointless. Go curate your own collection of games you want and will actually play.
Really don't need any wiiU games at all if you have switch lol. basically everything is either ported or on RCPS3, xbox hell even PC.

steamdeck oled has no issues and with dual boot on mine its better so much better that i sold the ally steam deck is more comfy and its battery is miles better

How do you get animated wall paper like that??!
Of course! Think of the Ally like a laptop. But instead of the attached keyboard and trackpad. It's an attached controller. So everything you can do on a pc/laptop you can do on the Ally. And also you don't have to worry about the animated wallpaper sucking power in the background. Once a program is in fullscreen mode (like it covers the entire screen) the animated wallpaper will stop its animation on a still frame till you minimise your tab to preserve your battery and cpu usage. 😊

@@witeko21its been an issue that asus have admitted to its tech related so theres not much they can do however the newer models are having less problems, they found the issue back in may and so if youre getting one now chances are you may have missed the bad batch which tbh every new piece of tech goes through some sort of issues on release

I agree. I took the time and created a base set of ROMs and artwork to transfer to every build I've made, and save some cashola. You can start with $300, and get a used small form factor office PC running an i7 CPU, 2 SSDs, and 2 RAM sticks, and still have money left over!

You'd have to be out of your mind to pay $250 for a 1tb micro sd with a bunch of FREE games on it. You can get a 1tb for $100 & put the games you're actually going to play on it yourself. I'll admit it *is* paying for convenience & the hub interface looks pretty sweet. But that hardly validates the extra $150 price point. Talk about wasting money lmao

Its not a new thing at all, since things like hyperspin there been people selling drives.. for many years now. I always says its better to do it for free, but some people rather pay someone else than figure it out.. either no time, dont want to download roms, or just cant figure it out for whatever reason. I dont care how people go about it as long as they know it can be done for free. I think the biggest benefit from doing it yourself besides being free is you learn how things work with these front ends and emulation and can solve problems on your own.. but eh whatever people wanna do.
@Madlittlepixel I've tried CZcams tutorials and whatnot. Went to Google to try and find roms and all I got was my defender telling me it quarantined viruses. Buying a build is just easier
