Hii. I have rog ally extreme . And forza 5 running great on it . But sometimes it just keep on stuttering and don’t run smooth . I mostly play on 15 watts. And after it starts stuttering, I even tried turbo mode and it still doesn’t help . It lags badly
Have you tried to change the Vram amount. I think by default it is 4GB of the 16gb. You should try change that.
I went ahead and put in a 4tb 2280 with heat pads and a copper heatsink. I used the Crucial P3 Plus and the speeds based on crystal disk mark are 30% faster. I cloned the drive beforehand without dealing with the time it takes the BIOS to upgrade.
I am planning a video shortly for that. I have a 4tb 990 pro. Was your drive not throttle with that cooling?
@@StuballzTech It shouldn't. I have tested it a few times and it gets consistently better speeds than the factory 2230 and I've not seen any throttling. I chose this drive specifically because it doesn't have DRAM which produces a lot more heat. If I'm not mistaken the 990 has DRAM and that's one of the reasons I didn't use it. Every degree counts with such a small enclosure.
Ya I am amazed the stock 2230 doesn't have a heat sink. They are so dense it is only a matter of time till they cook. I have a normal nvme heatsink but I am going to have to modify my case to make it work.
Would I need to set up the ROG before doing this, to create the cloud recovery? Or can I do this install fresh out of the box?
You can do a fresh install out of the box because it is built into the bios. Great comment

I am assuming it does, but will this upgrade cause loss of the year long factory warranty?
So I had to use the warranty (covered in another video) I put the original drive back in and the warranty repair went great. I know it can differ depending on country but usa that is not the case.
if you upgrade the SSD, and redownload the games from steam or game pass, will you lose the saved data from those games?
Game pass from what I know it saves all in the cloud. On steam I have had most of my games save in cloud but I have had one that didn’t space engineers. I am planning a video shortly on how to show a way to not loose anything when upgrading.

Hey so if I have stuff already on my Rog Ally do I need to factory reset my Rog Ally before I do this or just turn it off and start the upgrade process???
You don't have too. Just keep in mind if you don't somebody could access the data on that drive if it leaves your possession. Thanks for the comment

I do think they will come down in price because they are getting more usage. But with the price of storage going up I don't think it will be anytime soon.

When are you seeing this? What does it say? Mine I didn't need it registered to account.
@@StuballzTech when I go to register mine to my myASUS account. I bought mine used at best buy and absolutely love it, but can't justify buying a bigger SSD for it like this.
So you make it through cloud recovery before issues? The advantage of best buy is you can take it back and get help if you have issues.
Matter chief collection freezes every 30 seconds. I downloaded using game pass. Any fixes?

Everyone in comments. If you want to do a upgrade. Do the 90° pcie 4 adapter with a 2280 ssd. Cheaper than the 2230 size ones even with the adapter. Got a nice 4tb in my ally

How long have you had it for? Cause I’m very concerned about the longevity of the drive because of heat
Most quality drives will throttle to keep them from overheating. I am working to get a 2280 installed with a heatsink on it because I dont want to sacrifice any preformance I already payed for. The problem is I am trying to avoid modifiying the back shell to allow it to fit. Thanks for your comment
Just leave the battery plugged in, I killed a rog Zephyrus from a short from unplugging.
