He developed a relationship with her best friend over the years because her friend stepped in to help him raise their little girl. This was played for my Dad at my Mums funeral, they'd been married 56 years. She had dementia for the last 8 years and my dad was the last person she forgot. My dad went and joined her two years later.

I never thought this video did the song justice. The story is a woman falls into a coma, before this her and her husband were beginning to have some hard times between them. While shes in a coma the husband grows very close with the wife's best friend. When the wife comes out of the coma years later she has to readjust and notices this closeness between the two, as well as the bond her friend now has after helping to raise the couple's daughter.
