This song was done as a tribute to the band members she lost in a plane crash in 1990.
It was also on the 8 Seconds soundtrack and played during the credits while real photos and videos of Lane Frost were shown.

The For My Broken Heart CD that this is on is a masterpiece. She recorded it after losing her band in the plane crash, & every song is top notch & emotional.

This was the closing track to For My Broken Heart after she lost most of her band in a plane crash. Reba could only get through it once so the recorded version is the only one recorded in the studio. It was also used in the movie 8 Seconds. And as someone mentioned the entire album For My Broken Heart is a masterpiece and dedicated to her band. If anyone wants to hear the best of Reba get For My Broken Heart.
It is a fabulous CD. The most heartbreaking track on it is "All Dressed Up With Nowhere to Go". If you want BYSE to enter the chat, that song will do it!
She sang it again in 2001 after the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11. For all the people who died in that attack

This song was dedicated to her first band that died in 1991 from a plane crash that killed everyone. This was also a tribute to Saint Judes Hospital. She only did one take for the video. I am a very huge Reba fans so I know this for sure.

It is entirely possible that Reba mispronounces her own name? I know that is how she and everyone else pronounces it, but it's spelled to be pronounced 'mic' as it would need to be spelled with the Mac instead of the Mc. to be pronounced the way she does. I feel I can say this having been born with an Mc surname. The further south my family gets, the more emphasis is put on saying MAC instead of MIC. I also believe that members of my own family do not know how to pronounce it correctly.

This was one of the songs we picked to play at my mother’s funeral. It’s been almost 17 years since we suddenly lost her to a cerebral aneurysm. I will probably always cry when I hear it.
Reba lost 7 of her band members and her her tour manager in Spring 1991...I heard it at work that morning on the radio...I was flabbergasted...I saw her in concert less than a year later, she sang this song, not a dry eye in the place...at the close of most of her shows Reba sings “Sweet Dreams” a capella - it’s worth a listen and I’m sure somewhere here on CZcams!

This song is from "For My Broken Heart". In 1990, she and her husband were on one plane and her entire band was on another. The plane containing her band crashed soon after take off, killing everyone on board. The album "For My Broken Heart" is a tribute to them. You should listen to the song "For My Broken Heart" as well. Thank you, Billy, for hours of enjoyment and taking my mind off of things that are going on in my family life right now - even if this song brings it all to fore...
I couldn't help but think of my Dad. If I had known the last time I saw him would be the absolute last I would have held him tighter and longer. I would have gotten him to record for me the way he always told me that I was his baby and that he loved me.
Interestingly, neither the song nor the video was ever released commercially (except for the song being the closing track on her For My Broken Heart album). The music video was actually made for St. Jude Research Hospital and only became available to fans years later on CZcams. I've seen Reba live about 25 times and only once have I heard her sing this in person. It was actually the first live concert I was able to attend, during her 1999 tour, The Singer's Diary, which featured a segment dedicated to the members of the band and crew who died in the plane crash.

I thought that this was in reaction to when the plane crash happened where she basically lost everybody in her band and having it confirmed by some of the commentators in the comment section makes this song so much more impactful and emotional from where Reba is point of view from the message in this song and that it’s why it comes across so raw and emotional to the person who’s listening to it

Wow. I haven't heard this song in forever. Made me cry. Reminded me of my best friend. Lost him to a brain aneurysm in 2002 and still miss him. If I had only known that was the last day I would have with him I would have told him how much I loved him. RIP Kenny.

Great reaction to this song. This song is one that I can only listen to in private, it makes me cry every time. I dedicated this to my late wife a couple of years ago. I always think about her, the day she passed and the night before.

As everyone already said, this was a tribute to the band she lost. In fact, the whole album, For My Broken Heart, was for them. Another cool factoid is that the song was used for the soundtrack for a movie called 8 Seconds staring the late Luke Perry. It was a bio pic about a rodeo star.... I think his name was Lane something. Can't remember his last name.
You should check out What If by Reba. It's a song from 1997 but she recently released a new video to reflect the current situation of the world and to honor all the front line and essential workers... the original video is great too.

Unreal, it seems like yesterday when i heard about the plane crash when she lost her 8 band members. I graduated that year, 30 years ago. This was one of those events you remember like the Oaklahoma City bombing, the space shuttle Challenger exploding, 9/11.... events that live with you the rest of your life.
