Thanks so much Courtney. We are excited to have finally launched!
I think this is a great idea for people who want a very precise color and want to preview an offering ahead of time w/o buying an entire spool. As someone else noted elsewhere, a Pantone or RAL for filament.
Like a pantone set for filaments!
I just called these types of things Paint Strips, and now due to your comment i am learning way more and becoming *even more* of a Color Grading nerd!
@@ericlotze7724 It is a deep rabbit hole! The Print Codex would be like Pantone or Ral, except we wont be the taste makers deciding what the color actual is. We would be providing samples of manufacturers colors.
If they could also do material testing for all of them, THEN i would be VERY hyped.
Make/Get a Universal Testing Machine and basically do what @CNC Kitchen / @Tom Sanladerer do for testing filaments but for *Every Filament* then publish the data + swatches / groupings would be neat!
Still interesting though, I’ll check it out.
That is a great idea and could be something we explore as The Print Codex evolves. For the moment though, we will leave that to the stephans and Thomas' of the world.
About damn time.
Ohhh I love this!
Is this based off of the filament library's work?
howdy
Kinda lame. Anyone can print thier own filament swatches. This would have to be very cheap for many to want to pay for it.
It’s about 20 USD or so per “set”, so not horrible especially considering the cost of getting all the spools. Valid Point though, I’m a bit unsure how I feel about it.
If they tested material properties and maybe even provided profiles for common machines however it would be an INSTANT support for me.
I think the idea is you buy a set of the samples for filament you do not own. Then you can color match and make purchasing decisions from that.
If you want to buy all 32 rolls of PolyTerra, this isn't for you. This product is for people that want samples of all 32 colours, so they can choose which ones to buy.
When a decorator came to my house, they had a book of 200 fabric samples. We picked our options and then placed an order for the 3 styles we wanted.
