  • I decide on a more leisurely cruise along the south coast of Puerto Rico, and discover some wonderful anchorages along the way. Not quite leisurely sailing though on account of the strong winter trade winds ...

Ruth Avery sailing by drone is by far the one thing I could watch for hours , she is almost mesmerizing , there is something to say about a solid wooden mast/Gaff rigging and a nicely shaped bottom.

Watching your videos is quite therapeutic after looking at the frozen salt water bay here in Milbridge, Maine. When the temps hover around 0 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 8 degrees Celsius) for days on end, everything freezes! Can't wait for the summer season (typically July 4th through July 6th around here).😁

There are any number of sailboats here on the west coast who routinely motor a couple hundred yards off a steep-to0 rocky point with no bottom, no wind, and a moderate swell running. They should watch your videos.

Last time I was at Vieques, the kayak rental operator told us not to go ashore. The same is true about Deer island. You should be thinking Deer...in PR, on some island. Well yes , a population was placed there to be used as target practice buy U.S. forces. And, still lives there to this day. Along with all the unexploded ordinance on the island.

The Navy was dropping ordnance on Vieques as recently as the mid-90s I know for sure because some of it came from my boat's 5-inch guns. USS John Rodgers (DD-983). Wasn't really all that long ago they stopped using it as a range. Probably still some depleted uranium rounds buried in the ground there. So bring a Geiger Counter. 😬
