Kevin, your video skills are continually improving. I love the video clarity and the positioning of your camera to capture incredible scenes. It's almost like being on board. I could almost "feel" the pitching and rolling of the vessel. This COVID-19 thing really has me chomping at the bit these days, but at least we've had a few days of milder weather so I can resume working on my new sailboat construction project. I've been living vicariously through you and your videos to help keep me sane throughout the winter here in Maine (snowed the night before last). There's been a break in the weather for today so I'll be back at it, but the forecast calls for snow tomorrow. I hope you're able to avoid the Coronavirus and stay healthy. I like using cast iron pans aboard my 32 footer. Once they are seasoned with oil they don't stick like stainless steel.

Hadn't thought of that, yes indeed, it may be a while before the barber shops are open again.
Interesting camera angle at 2:56. Oh yeah, for $30, you could have bought a pretty good set of clippers and accessories and done your own buzz cut for years to come.

Kevin, if you still can go to Europe this summer it’s a really good idea, I think. You will do your quarantine at sea. And the Covid 19 will probably be under control then. Not in the USA sadly. It’s only the beginning and the peak will arrive next summer. It will be horrible for sure.
We'll see. I'm still going head with preparations to cross in June/July, but have no idea what will happen, it's wait and see.
How to Sail Oceans Good idea. Also I would be surprised if the Canadian border will reopen anytime soon. So probably no stop in Nova Scotia or Newfoundland for you en route to Europe. Stay safe and continue your good work Kevin.

Watching your video I wounded if you know about bowsprit travelers that make it really easy to set and take down your jib? I head this on my 36 ft gaff cutter and it worked really well. I used it when I had a 800 sq ft goaster up. Just let the out hall go and the luff would come back to the boat. I had a self tenching for stay.
Yes, that's an old arrangement, it would certainly make life easier than going out on the bowsprit to hank/unhank a sail.

No, I do not, safety harnesses are a real pain, constantly getting tangled up in what you are doing.
So, how do you deal with the risk of falling overboard while underway? I would thing with autopilot set, falling overboard would be very unlucky, probably fatal, no?
Yes, overboard is fatal when you are solo. Always remembering that seems the best way to prevent falling over.
One technique I’ve heard of is to drag a 200’ line behind the boat with loops every so often and a float on the end.
With this virus epidemic going down, where are you going to spend the summer?

Some great footage of Knox Johnson and Suhaili charging along self steering, he'd dive in off the bow and as her transom sailed by he'd grab the railing, foot on the rudder stocks and heave himself back aboard! 😲

Hey Kevin. Question: What is you sleep regimen on this trip? Also, nice haircut! Now you have no "hair care" issues. I got one just like it at Fort Dix, New Jersey in 1967.
When I'm offshore I'll sleep an hour or two at a time, mostly at night. In settled weather it is typically only 5 or 10 minutes between naps, just enough to check on things.
I have a kitchen timer that I set for 15 to 30 minutes depending on where I am and the amount of general ship traffic. I always use a sleep mask to cover my eyes, even if I'm not sleeping, as I find that it makes me rest more as I'm day dreaming and not looking at things in the boat. I try to do this during the day as well as it is quite restful.

The white dot is a small fishing boat. I was still pretty close to the Florida coast then, hence still able to pick up VHF just a few frames earlier.
