The ULTIMATE ITINERARY for 10 days in Buenos Aires

  • I spent one year in Argentina (plus 5 months in Buenos Aires back in 2005). Buenos Aires is one of my favorite cities in the entire world, and I want to share with you what makes it so great.
    This 10 day itinerary begins on a Friday morning, and is arranged according to market schedules, or other events in the city that fall on particular days. But you can certainly do the activities out of order, and fit them to your schedule as needed.
    I have planned this 10-day itinerary to allow you to maximize your days, and hours in this amazing city, but still allow you to enjoy the small moments without feeling overwhelmed, and get rest when needed.
    If you're looking for further details, check out the itinerary on the Thatch app: it will provide you not only with daily activities, but information on how to get the best exchange rate, how to stay safe, and information for transportation- how to get from spot to spot, so you can put as little time into planning as possible. Let me do that for you! :)

La mayoría de los que se van tienen doble nacionalidad, gracias a esos inmigrantes que fueron sus ancestros y que le transmitieron ese sentimiento de no pertenencia.

    This is a fabulous video for everyone who wanna visit Buenos Aires including myself !! Thank you Nicki !! I've watched this the day you uploaded ,but didn't comment ,thought I did ! Lol. The Japanese garden is looking good since the day I found out ! Usually we ,Japanese don't get too impressed by Japanese gardens in other countries !! Lol Thank you for mentioning of Eco Park & it's a " sanctuary " now ,a big thanks to the Argentinian animal welfare/ rights groups & others who complained of series of poor animals death there !! Many wild animal have been transported to sanctuary & better zoos in other countries for a better life !!! I believe two more elephants are still in the process .
    Indoor markets are very common in European countries & U.K. ! I didn't know there was one in Argentina. Maybe more ? I guess it's because of their European ancestor's influences ?( Italians & Spanish ) We don't have in U.S.,I believe ? Let me think ! 🤔 LOL The closest comes to my mind is one in DTLA food court ,I've been wanting to go to for a long time now.👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🇦🇷⚽️💞

    • @NickiPostsTravelStuff
      @NickiPostsTravelStuff  Před rokem +2

      Hi Spark! Thanks for your lovely comment. It doesn't surprise me that Japanese are not usually impressed with Japanese gardens in other countries. The one in BA is small, but I thought it was quite nice. I really liked the restaurant inside as well.
      You're right that the animals are now being taken care of much better, which is great.
      The trendy indoor markets are definitely becoming a thing in Argentina. Cordoba has one too! And BA has a few. I really like them! I'm not sure that it's because of the EU influence, just that it's pretty trendy all over the world. The US has some for sure. I can think of a few in Denver and Boulder, where I'm from, and I've been to one in LA as well. But I do think it's more of a newer trend! But the DTLA food court hahahaha

LOL 😅 DTLA train station ( I believe )has a real nice food court. And it's been very popular amongth office workers & soany varieties of people I've read before ! I am gonna ask around for the indoor markets in L.A. ! That's neat ! Thank you for letting me know !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

    Thank you for publishing your book. I purchased and it's very informative!
    Any suggestions as to how much money to take out at the ATM at airport to get us to the hotel? We will be finding "cambio" later, but we need some money to start out for the taxi and some drinks and lunch. having a difficult time trying to budget.
    our phones are basically dead-weight, and we won't have a way to contact the person you recommended in your book.

    • @NickiPostsTravelStuff
      @NickiPostsTravelStuff  Před rokem +1

      Aw thank you Ali, I'm so happy to hear it was helpful. Thank you for purchasing it.
      As far as getting a ride to town from the airport, I actually suggest that you contact Emilio in advance. He is a very reliable person. Therefore, if you tell him your flight details and the time you arrive, he will be there waiting for you, even if you don't have a phone. You can let him know that you won't have a phone. Then you can pay him in USD. You can exchange photos with him in advance to know what he looks like and vice versa.
      If possible, I advise against taking money out of the atm. Doing this will get you the official rate, so you'll lose half of your purchasing power.
      If you can have Emilio pick you up and take you to the hotel, then you could go to the Western Union once you drop off your bags. Some hotels will even do a blue dollar exchange. You could ask your hotel in advance if they offer that service.
      Also, if you have a Visa credit card, Argentina has begun to give the MEP rate (almost the blue rate) for use with Visa credit cards. However, before relying on that, I would make one small purchase first and then check your credit card statement to make sure you're really getting that better rate, and not the official rate.
      Hope that helps! :)

    Great job Nicki! I'm from San Diego and mi esposa es desde Mar del Plata. However - she hasn't spent much time in BA and so the city was new to us. We spent November 2022 in BA and went to many of these places (not nearly all!) I agree with most everything except day 7 - honestly I think La Boca is a tourist trap from hell and outside of El Caminito (which, honestly, isn't all that great either) you pretty much just want to get out of there as fast as possible. The locals say as sketchy as La Boca is you *really* don't want to cross the river! Puerto Madero I could do without also - it's all just rather uninspiring restaurants and is more of an upscale tourist trap from hell. That said, I suppose there is something said for seeing both if you've never seen them. Barrio Chino was just "OK" for us. It's very small and if you've ever been to other well-known China towns (e.g. San Francisco) you won't be that impressed. Also way overpriced IMHO. Palermo SOHO > Palermo Hollywood (unless maybe you're a club-hopping 20 something!)

    • @NickiPostsTravelStuff
      @NickiPostsTravelStuff  Před rokem +4

      Hi Mike- totally agree with you on lots of your comments. La Boca is definitely a tourist trap, though I think it's worth it to see at least once. Definitely just for a couple hours and get out. I can't remember exactly what I cut out and what made the final edit, but I did mention that at some point during filming! haha Puerto Madero is nice to take a walk, which is all I included. Just walking along the river until the CCK. I agree Barrio Chino is small, but I think it's also nice on a Sunday when there is a lot of movement. I love the Asian supermarkets mostly! :) I like both parts of Palermo and they're totally different at night/day. I find Hollywood to be a lot more chill but Soho to be younger and party central. I don't go out much, but I really like both during the daytime. Great cafes! :)

      Hey- I studied Spanish literature in university, and did a semester abroad in Spain. Over the years I’ve lived in a few places where Spanish is the main language (Argentina 2x, Miami) and travelled throughout the Spanish speaking world quite a bit so got the chance to practice.

      Hi Kevin- Argentina is definitely a great place to be. I think you could easily live on 2100/mo there. Buenos Aires is one of the more expensive cities in Argentina, so if you are really looking to save money, you could also consider Mendoza, Cordoba, and Salta as they are other great cities but with a much lower cost of living.

    Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's no 'pre-colonial' architecture in San Telmo.

    The Japanese restaurant is decent, but these other places are horrible recommendations for food- don’t eat at them. Atis is beautiful and El Federal and La Poesía are certainly historic places worth a look and maybe a drink, but the food is not good at any of them
