To be fair, it would make sense; the part of your brain that would be capable of perceiving anything would be destroyed.
Individual parts of your perception can already be destroyed by destroying certain parts of your brain (your vision, your individual emotions, your sense of self, your ability to recognize objects, faces, memories, colors, etc;). Is one to believe that these lost functions will be restored once all the brain is destroyed and they're "firmly" in the afterlife? If a person loses these brain functions while still alive... did those lost parts simply go to the afterlife before the rest of the brain?
These are irrevocably parts of our consciousness, and humans get these destroyed all the time. But for some reason when _everything,_ is destroyed, we think the whole has to have gone somewhere rather than just... be destroyed.
