As always, extremely fun to watch and learn. I still laugh on my own with "someone turned the sun off".😂
Great entertaining video as always, I'm so surprised you don't have more Subscribers, the light hearted, entertaining and detailed way you present your content should be right in the sweet spot to appeal to a lot of people in my opinion. It would be a shame to see your content reduced or even end altogether, how can we as subscribers help promote you guys?
Thanks to our Patreons that might not happen. We have a Patreon account and a Paypal account for donations. The are both linked in the A bout page of our channel czcams.com/users/ChristianMuthabout 😃👍🙋♀️Vera
I’m a Toyota driver that is missing repairing his car and that’s why I love these videos.
These two people are so good and so much fun to watch. Very very informative. They take a lot of worry away from being a Land Rover owner.
Even if you have no interest in land rovers, this is so entertaining
Not that I would wish a broken discovery 3 on anyone, but I just can't help but look forward to another video.
Keep up the great work.👍
I don’t know what’s more entertaining, the subject matter or the commentary! 😂😂. Yes I do, both!
Vera.
You need another gauge on the other side of the panel, maybe "Altitude"? And between them a BIG red button labelled either *DON'T PANIC*
or
*PANIC*
That's so great, Fabian could really use that instead of the fault codes you usually get. I am going to have Christian reprogram my dashboard unit. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
I also liked the wrought iron work at the end, keep showing.
Robin will be very happy 😃👍🙋♀️Vera
Greetings and big thanks from rotterdam the Netherlands
You both helped me a lot with my discovery 3 engine repair
Its running beautifully now
😅👌👍🙋♀️
Hi , sheer magic , thanks for your up dates .😉
"Oh no, the firewall monster has me by the arm", exclaimed Vera! LOL Excellent content. Stay warm, y'all.
The slow gauge response, is probably due to air in your new 'manifold'. With the engine running, slighly undo your new sender to purge out the air.
that air vent is absolutely essential in the summer, perfectly positioned to blow cold air up my shorts
Very knowledgeable engineer, mechanic and electrician that ever lived.

Neat upgrade. You two are funny.
I suspect Vera's car is a test platform for all the upgrades for the mall crawler. I'm guessing the expanding foam won't make it to the D4.
I'd want to dim that gauge light for our outback road trips.
Idea for another project- Front diff locker or rebuild.
I’ve just become a Patreon of your channel. It might help get other Patreons if you tell people how to do it and what the benefits are…
😃👍 I got your message, thank you 🙋♀️Vera
Best Channel in the world , I don't even own a Land Rover yet and I cant stop watching , Im a South African in the UK , Beste wense
Just found your channel, considering buying a LR3 as my sunday-driver so a random youtube-search gave me this recommendation. This has quickly become one of my favourite channels, and I've seen all of your videos. Love the friendly banter and humor. I specially love the overlanding-videos, and LR3 tech-videos. Keep up the good work!
You’re an endless source of laughs and useful information for Disco owners and, I’m sure, the cause of green-eyed envy of most Toyota owners: they can drop their pickups from a building or avoid any maintenance for years and still drive their cars but they’re surely missing out all the fun!
I’m anxiously waiting your videos every Sunday and it would be a real shame if you could not post as much as you do now so I’ll support your channel on Patreon and hope you’ll get the subscribers you need to go ahead with this amazing contents. Thank you guys.
Thank you so much Ivan 😃🙏🙋♀️Vera
Hello Christian & Vera,
This comment is for both yourselves and your watchers.
Before buying my Discovery 4 HSE 3.0V6 diesel, as much as I wanted one I thought/knew it was a bad idea, but life is too short to avoid head aches you lust after. It was in researching the vehicle I came across your channel and was immediately smitten with your channel due to two things:
a) Christians high level of engineering competency.
b) The chemistry between the two of you made the videos funny and light hearted.
I’m an HVAC engineer by trade and I’ll have a go at most anything....line boring excepted, in fact there’s more than that I’d probably hand over to a Land Rover specialist, but your videos gave me the confidence to go ahead and buy my Discovery 4 and dive into my own diagnostics and repairs knowing I had a bunch of videos to help me out.
I’m not much good, or interested in social media, but having watched this video (oil gauge) and your insight on funding the channel I thought I’d first find out how to comment on a video and secondly to congratulate you both on a professional and funny channel. I wait every week to see your next video so I dearly hope you get the subscriptions you need.
I’m confident it’s not just me that will feel this way. Keep up the fantastic work.
Thank you Richard. A Discovery 4 is a high maintenance vehicle for sure. It can cause the best and worst day in your live - all in a weeks time. Thanks for watching. Christian
I have the Madman engine monitoring system installed on my Defender. It used a similar pressure sensor. This sensor eventually became very unreliable and Madman later started to introduce the solid state pressure sensor.
This sensor is much smaller, almost as big as the pressure switch, and also much more reliable.
Thanks for the great video.
EMS-3?
Wonderful, funny video again. One of Tobies Iron works would look great on the front of the Discovery. 1 It would protect your bumper and 2. Good advertising for Tobias.
Now, If any blacksmiths is allowed to work on my car, it's my son Robin of course. 👍😃🙋♀️Vera
You 2 are so cool and dedicated made our rover lr3 rebuild worth every hour we endure workin on it thanks 👍
Wonderful! - excellent video as always. The Vera quote of the month: "if he breaks anything on my car, I have spare car over here where I can just take the parts" 🤣
😅👍And I mean it, and he knows it. 😂🙋♀️Vera
Christian and Vera great entertainment as usual and so funny you two are as everyone would agree put a smile on their face’s and fantastic,)))🇬🇧😃
Great video as always LR Time.
Have to say though that the best part was seeing Christian finally throwing out that old flammable polyurethane insulation. I will sleep much better knowing that it won't burst into flames when Vera is driving her D3 one day. With love and best wishes.
One moment, I only took out one little piece which was in the way. Most of it is still in. So no reason to sleep well yet. Car could still burn to the ground 😬😳. Christian
I hope your subscriber numbers increase so that you two can continue to bring us such wonderful, informative, and entertaining content.
‘Come on Vera, now Focus over here’, I bet that’s gonna cost Christian 😁 …… great video 👍🏻😎
Perfect timing. I installed a 3 gauge pod on my D3 dash, central, between and just above the vents. It's from MUD UK and its for the Puma but I had to angle the base to suit the D3 dash angle. I hadn't yet worked out how to add an oil pressure transmitter to the oil pressure switch location, but here you are with all the details and a UK supplier. Only today my Wife was saying how good the VDO gauges and clock looked.... but what a pity that they didn't work ! :)
Thoroughly enjoyable! Vera, you are always right because men are always left! Fantastic!
Very entertaining video. You deserve to have more subscribers for your quality content. Thanks for sharing
Well done both of you, love the videos ,the humour, and the couple. Cheers.
High heels are the answer Vera, a much more elegant answer to being short than a step ladder... they may actually increase your viewership as well!
you two make me laugh so much. Michael
We need to come up with a 3-Point Plan to boost your revenue! I will not allow the world to be denied a weekly glimpse into the world of Christian and Vera!
😅👍Yes you are absolutely right, we do need a 3 point plan. 🙋♀️Vera
Thankyou both again for a very entertaining video. I enjoy your varied content so much. Keep them coming. Cheers, Chris. OZ 🙃
I do hope you are able to continue the content even if monthly. I will still be looking out for each episode. Well done, love the content.
Not only Toyota drivers....grand Cherokee wj also.... 😁😁😁😁💪💪💪🤙🤙🤙✌️✌️✌️ Excelente video...👌👌👌👌💯💯💯
Thanks for all film's 👍👍👍
I so look forward to your Sunday uploads, I love your humour, you guys definitely have an Irish sense of humour. Another great video and brilliant job.have a great week, till next Sunday 🇮🇪
Great video Christian and Vera my Sunday evening wouldn't be the same without it.thankyou!
This was one of the best videos as far as commentary is concerned... Too many to list, but my favorite has to be:
Vera, "...I don't think I have enough coolant liquid in my car..."
Christian, "CAN YOU FOCUS HERE?!?!"
LOL!!!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice work, you two. I'm sure Sarah-n-Tuned is proud. 👍
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Brilliant couple these two. Christians engineering skills just blow me away.
Absolutely marvellous vlog again love the engineering and humour well done both 👍
A great installation and so entertaining. Well done folks. :-)
Omg that was brilliant. Best to you both.
Evening both of you 😀 Another cracking video with some fantastic humour 🤣 Take care cheers Stevie 🏴
Real entrainment again, thanks 👌🏻😁
Awesome video as always ! Ooooh cant wait for the Oil pump replacement and belts as I need to do mine in the next week or so on my 05 plate disco3, very nervous but have moral support from a mate! Hope it comes out before... keep up the great work..!
Another fun and informative video.
👍🏴
i don't have a Defender, mine is vw caddy 1.9tdi but your channel is just brilliant and very interesting to watch and some of your content helps me out👍
Perfect, that is excactly what we want to hear. Thank you. 😃👍🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian your welcome 👍
Another great video. So looking forward to the upcoming content. 👍
Great video guy's
Yet again. Can't wait
For next week's episode .
"There is something chinese sticking out" 😂
Love your videos. Whenever you install a mass on the end of a rod or tube, you have to take resonance into account especially if its installed on an engine. Fatigue cracks can rapidly develop.
Brilliant Video, thanks both. Another thumbs up from me.
Christian, i still think you owe Vera a fancy dinner!
I am very impressed with the skill/ingenuity levels you both demonstrate and they inspire me and probably a lot of people to have confidence to improve their cars. Keep up the excellent work.
Immer wieder schön - Eure Videos :-)
very interesting vid today and very amusing thanks! keep 'em coming!!
Great stuff, as usual! Thanks!
Impresionante....great work
Love the banter! ...I hope you get more subscribers.
Excellent video thank you.
Absolutely brilliant Christian and vera. It's definitely making want too fit something very similar..
You Guy's are legends, what you bring to the community is not just damn useful information but huge entertainment along the way. The time and effort you invest I really hope gets repaid it certainly deserves to. Good luck...👍
Great video! Wonderful combination of information and entertainment! You two are a lot of fun to watch! Thanks for sharing your time and efforts!
Great video as always guys! I have the same spec Discovery 3 in the same colour as my daily vehicle and your videos are a very useful guide to help me keep it in good mechanical shape. Keep up the good work 👍
Hi Vera and Christian, again a very interesting Video. Many thanks. One suggestion regarding additional instrumentation. I am used to instrument my cars with SPA double gauges, digital ones. They are sometimes better than analoges because you can see the direction where the measurement is moving to. An analog one doesnt show this. Very important if you want to see Exhaust gas temperature as a reaction of your engine torque request. In the case of the discovery there is already a lot of measured values available via the GAP IID Tool. But one instrument I would add anyway. The oil pressure as you did and the water pressure. Both integrated in one double digital instrument of SPA. It is programmable for lower and upper limits and indicating via a warning light when limits are over or underrided. With a digital indication of the cooling water circuit pressure you can see very well if your system is leaking, even if it is very few. And it warns you before the engine is getting overheated. I take for this the SPA instrument for oil and boost pressure. Its because the boost pressure offers a lower pressure range which fits very well with the water circuit. By the time you learn very well how the circuit reacts during heating up and cooling down phase and any deviation of this, even very small, is causing immediately your attention. During cooling down you can see very well if the tightness of the system is perfect or not. So its not all about leackages, you see also if the pressure valve of the reservoir is working correctly which is important for avoiding boiling coolant above 100 Degree.
A very nice job and really looks good thank you for the video and nice drill press
another good video keep them coming ... and thats some impressive blacksmith work
Good job!!
Great video as always...
Another good video, keep up the great work
Another great video
Christian you and I are married to the same woman on different continents! I am also an electrician and get the same questions! Jill even has a stool to stand on and see things. Unbelievable! Thanks for another great video. I will continue to promote your channel and hope all of your other subscribers do the same.
Thanks. Does Jill also think the ferrules have different colors to match the wire color? Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian she says they should match!
@@Skagitrover 😅👍always thankful for women taking my side, make sure to greet her from me. 🙋♀️Vera
Great video guys
On my Defender one good thing is there are no air bags to get in the way of these kinds of installations. So in a crash I will die but at least my oil gauge can go where ever I want.
You mentioned adding a resistor for the gauge brightness. I assume, then, that there is a separate wire for the gauge LEDs and you are going to put a resistor inline with this to limit the current to the gauge LEDs. In this case you could consider switching this in with the headlights so that in day time you get a nice brightness and when you put the headlights on it dips down to something more sensible for night time. If you still need a resistor even to dim it down even for the day time, then you could have a permanent inline resistor for the night time brightness, and then switch another resistor in parallel with it to allow for the day time brightness. But at this point I would probably prefer to PWM the gauge LEDs and have two different duty-cycles for the day time and night time. If you want advice about that I could easily make up a circuit that will do it and share it with you.
The gauge has separate wires. I’ll have to change it to a digital one because it quits when it is below freezing 😂. Christian
lovely job !!and your job's son too !!! extremely fun to watch .Some repairs in my disco, only because of you , so thank you both for the help , greatings from burgundy
Watched a few of your vids and subscribed today. Keep up the good work looking forward to the timing belt and oil pump in the car.
Love the vids. If I ever pluck up the courage to buy an LR Dico 4 I would need to make sure it had a (no matter what happens it’s covered) warranty or move to Germany and live near you.👍😀
Thanks this is awesome
Toyota Land Cruiser owner here - with nothing to fix on that car I love watching you guys suffer and coming up with ideas while dishing out the Toyota jibes!
👍 we are glad to entertain you. That’s what it is all about.
Thanks grate wideo 👍👍👍
First of your videos that I've watched. Echoing other folks comments, excellent & informative. Love the banter & what a workshop! Given this engines issues with oil pressure, spun bearings & crank failures, not having a pressure transducer, fitting an oil pressure gauge is a no brainer. Wish my XJ had one, looking at doing similar but don't want to cut holes in the internal trim. Suggestions appreciated.
“it broke in such a way that I would consider it a safety recall“ … “no spoilers…a repair video will be coming soon” said to what I can assume is predominately Disco 3 & 4 owners 🤦🏼♂️ 🤣 brilliant content as always guys, always looking forward to the new videos coming up!
Agree I really don't know why you don't have at least 100k subscribers content excellent as always
Brilliant as aways
Even though I live in the US and have the 2007 4.4 V8 LR3 your videos are always informative and enjoyable. Keep up the good show. I use Glowshift gauges (USA) in my DII and highly recommend.
Yum....chicken Sunday lunch and more LR Time ...a great combination...👍...fab thank you 😍
Maybe you can cut a piece of window tint film to go over the gauge and reduce brightness?
Enjoyed the oil pressure video, and although I am saddened to hear of the breakdown, I am interested in seeing the repair and learning about the breakdown. I struggle with adding things to my car - and wonder if I can get replacements for the added parts. I once bought programmable digital panel gauges, but found they were difficult to program. Eventually, I spent weeks designing an Excel spreadsheet to calculate the numbers required for the gauge range and offset needed to match the sensors. After that, I was unable to buy more gauges. The supplier discontinued them because they were too hard to program!
There are gauges that are using the obd2 port for oil pressure plus alot of other things boost pressure, voltage and so on. It's wireless dongle. No need to pull cables and machining blocks😁 Given that the Disco has the PID.
As always a great video , funny enough bought a small digital oil pressure gauge that I’m going to install in the small removable panel that sits on the RH side of my instrument panel , as a side note still chasing the error in my turbo , ie P0046-00 (28) Turbo/supercharger boost control solenoid - circuit range/performance, in live data comes up N/A , think it might be a broken wire somewhere as all the intercooler hoses etc check out , sorry I’m waffling, lol, sorry to hear of the unexpected breakdown, hope it’s not too serious , really hope ur able to continue your weekly videos but of course understand , hope u was able to keep warm , all the best and till the next one, keep safe and well 👍👍
Love your video's guys, from a bored Toyota landcruiser driver:))
What a great feat of engineering! Personally, I don't have all the skills that Christian has nor the tools, so I think I would buy one!! Okay, so I live in the UK so don't pay those high import taxes, unless I buy something from the EU.....Anyways, nice neat job as always. I'm sorry to say OMG!!! What the hell has happened to Vera's LR3? Can't wait til next week. Take care you two.
I bought my Defender with a device called a "little black box" which has its own multiple sensors for oil, water, voltage etc. It only gives warnings not any readings. Seems like a nice cheap little solution to add monitoring of vital info to vehicles without those sensors. I hope you find that interesting :P
Danke für das Video, sehr interessant. Die Idee mit dem Kompressor haben wir auch umgesetzt, nur das bei uns der original Luftfahrwerkskompressor.
Looks like a tidy install. I'm watching other CZcams videos for inspiration on building a relay/fuse board to simplify the wiring in my battery compartment on my 90. I see the Americans have S pod and Voswitch and we only seam to have ARB linx as far as I can see in the UK so a diy version is on the cards. Perhaps this is something you could look into in an upcoming video as looks like a good inside job for winter project.
Kiitos.
