    I walked into a VC dealer once. I was in a hoodie and track pants and still got treated like one of their most esteemed clients. One day, if i can afford it, VC will be the first watch I buy from the holy trinity

    Jenni, I don't understand your comments on price. The quality is equal to anything from Patek or AP. And comparing similar models, the VC is well priced.
    Resale is a different conversation entirely.
    I own an Overseas, several Rolex, several Omega's plus a few others (and I've had a few Pateks). The VC is the one I wear the most. It's a great watch!

      I will never ever have anywhere near the cash to buy one but even a JLC is very expensive but they like Gerard Perregeaux can be almost put in the same class and are every bit as nice as the tip top Rolexes, Omegas and more. The AM/PM indicator is there to indicate the second timezone's half of the day. This is not a GMT watch, so the second hour hand goes around in 12 hours, not 24. The advantage is not having to have a second 24-hour time-scale around the dial, but it does require some type of AM/PM indicator, which they went with a pointer. I am sure the pointer indicator is its own special complication in terms of the movement having to operate it, but it was not discussed in the review.

    • @hadisidaoui5784
      @hadisidaoui5784 Pƙed rokem

      According to some it's a dual-time and others a GMT complication. Source: Wempe & Hodinkee.

    • @rousseau327

      "GMT" is just often used interchangeably with "travel" nowadays

    • @hoostineFL
      @hoostineFL Pƙed rokem +3

      The other benefit is that the “GMT” hand and local hour hand will overlap and only look like a single hour hand when you’re not traveling. A more traditional/true GMT hand can’t do that as it circles at a different rate than local hour hand.

    Of all the high-end marine-themed watches out there, VC's Overseas is by far the best-looking! Patek itself even got bored by its Nautilus line being worn by each and every pro football player starting a watch collection, so they discontinued it. And Audemar Piguet's over-exhausted Offshore line time pieces are just vulgar hunks of metal.

My wife loves it and it's practical with swapping the straps. I wish in this video you would have highlighted the other straps to further point to the practicality of the Overseas line. Vacheron Overseas is a watch actually worth the hype of Rolex and worth the price of Patek. And they aren't a one trick pony like AP. They stand by their product with the longest warranty of the luxury brands. Impressive. Vacheron is the epitome of a true Maison and not just a mass producer of unremarkable 3 hand movements priced like Lange grade movements. This watch is far too classy for this flex culture world.

Its finishing is second to none and the blue dial is in my opinion the best in the industry. Although its made by the same company that crafts the dial for F.P. Journes ChonomĂštre Bleu I even prefer it over that. Tolles Video und super review! By the way the AM/PM indicator is mandatory to read the second timezone and I love the way the date is displayed. VC has been in continuous operation for 262 years. Finally, the Geneva Seal since 2012 has many new requirements including precision testing... as well as case finish requirements. Mine keeps +1 second a day.

    I have always thought that the Overseas, every version of it, should be a four-handed GMT. The word “Overseas” implies that it’s a traveler’s watch. No complication that’s more convenient to a traveler than a GMT function with a rapid adjust twelve hour hand. Ditch the sub-minute indices scale in place of a fixed, 24 hour scale. No need for a rotatable bezel or 24 hour scale. I’d like to see them make the twelve hour hand jump forwards and backwards via push buttons at 2:30 and 4:30, that way you don’t have to continually screw and unscrew the crown as you cross time zones. And if they really, really wanted to make it a professional traveler’s watch then put a separate date display for the local twelve hour hand and for the GMT 24 hour hand as local date and GMT date are easily confused in aircraft and ship logbooks, corporate documents, etc. One time I saw an entire month’s worth of ship’s logbook entries have the wrong GMT date because the third mate confused local and GMT dates - and everyone else piggy-backed on that mistake for the remainder of the month! Having transitioned from the maritime to aviation, I’ve similarly seen aircraft logbooks with messed up date entries when GMT date and local date were confused.

How can a machine made, barely decorated, mass produced watch be in the same league as the holy trinity where hand made and decoration is the name of the game and even Lange (ALS) with all its achievements is considered inferior to PP/VC/AP!?

    Jenni, thanks for doing a video VC. The watches are simply superb, I own a 2020 O/S Chrono with the Blue dial. Now almost impossible to get. Rolex 1m watches, VC 20,000.
    The dial is just magical, the bracelet system is great, also remember you can buy more leather and rubber straps in many diff colours - so you have one watch, but many diff looks. Once you have this watch you just love looking at it, the movement, the dial colour, the quality of the finishing. Its day today functionality and wearability is second to none, being able to change the bracelet etc, the micro adjustment on the steel bracelet - its these small things that show they think about the person wearing the watch. And it doesn't attract unwanted attention like some other watch brands.

      @Manuel Romero especially the He escape valves, on the fly bracelet adjustments and all of those rolex knock offs they have recently released. Seriously though, the bracelet on the 300 divers is garbage, the 9:00 He release valves are a joke, the clasp on the 007 mesh bracelets are horrible. About the best thing going is the moon watch, which is a bit tired. Omega is priced fairly in the market, as is rolex.

    • @TM-ic1eb
      @TM-ic1eb Pƙed rokem

      @Manuel Romero There is a reason why the wait list exists. There is a reason why Rolex doesn’t loose value and Omega tanks. I’ll give you the moon watch as a winner. Great watch, but that’s all they have. Look at the secondary market and you’ll see that the majority of watch buyers agree that Rolex is a better product. Not to mention the lineup, they have a watch for everyone, including ladies.

I'm too broke, or too smart, or too frugal, or have too much common sense or all of the above, or none of the above, to pay $20,000 for a damn watch. But that's just me. Carry on.......
