I like watches as much as the next guy. While I look for certain models from grey markets and overseas dealers, I find the hunt exciting but the price and negotiations to me are equally important as well. The worst feeling is getting something you wanted and realizing that you paid too much and you walk away feeling like a sucker. I certainly would not have felt good about your purchase. It may have been cheaper for you to fly out to the UAE and buy the watch in person. Plus, you get a mini-vacation too.

Congrats! I got mine at boutique in 2020 for retail and have since gotten Rolex at the grey market. Forget the haters. I don't think we should feel 'lucky' to get something for retail (or wholesale) or have buyers remorse if we paid grey pricing. You like it, you can afford it, buy it. It's that simple. Congrats again! It is the watch that consistently gets the most wrist time for me. Beautiful dial, high horology and the comfort - especially with the micro adjustments - is unparalleled. Don't know why this was a sleeper for so long. I should have bought a rose gold one, too. Oh well maybe I'll go get put on the list.

They peaked at $62K for the blue dial version, but have recently corrected to about $38K. They’ll go back up as Nautilus & Royal Oak models will continue to drive this piece as the aforementioned are very pricey and really no better of a watch. I’ve had the black dial a couple years ago paying about $20K complete. I have a 21’ blue dial now and wear it on the rubber. Great piece and finally getting the attention from collectors it deserves 🙌🏻

Hey Ridah, Congrats and great watch!
FYI- All overseas watch transactions are subject to 18-25% in duties, taxes, brokerage fees, and other misc. costs. That’s why the Seller says the buyers is responsible for all other costs. Sometimes when watches are ship through US Postal or Japan postal sometimes slip through without some of those costs but that’s only if you’re lucky. Cheers

Ridah, you can never go wrong buying a watch that you like. The way to look at this is that you have the Rose Gold VC at retail which is currently trading way above MSRP and you paid for the stainless steel Overseas above MSRP, I would say based on current pricing of both watches in the grey market you are still way ahead. Wear it and enjoy it. Its safe money. Looking forward to your next video my friend!!!

Feel it is a shame to have to pay grey market prices, like others have said, if you can afford it. Shame Vacheron could not do a bit more for you as a valued customer, but even Ed Sheeran had to wait for his watches, from his new Hodinkee video, everyone waits.

Don't even start to feel bad about it. Here in Europe, 0n Apr. 13, 2022, the cheapest blue dial (4500V/110A-B128) goes for 72,000 Euros, not dollars, in Ireland. The black dial (4500V/110A-B483) goes for 49,000 Euros. Both brand new from 2022, stainless steel, with the caliber 5100.
Your deal was a steal by european standards.

I've bought a dozen high end watches over the years from gray market dealers, and I NEVER pay more than $0 for shipping (usually insured, over night) and the negotiated price of the watch.. I also NEVER buy from out of the USA. Anyway, I just picked up the black dial version, low key, stealth wealth looks... not really sure why the hype over the blue? bing factor?.. blue dials are a dime a dozen it seems.

But I’m In Ft Lauderdale Florida
    If I buy that from
Roman Sharf at Luxury Bizarre I wouldn’t pay taxes. If it was $45,000 usd I would’ve paid $45k flat but I may or may not of paid shipping from Philadelphia to Florida
(sometimes they wave it for good etiquette). But it’s a lovely watch like I said we talked about it on the rose gold VC4500 video and we both laughed and said the stainless would go amazing with a grey rubber strap and even a white one and you said I agree and here you are with that match. In Australia we are charged 10% tax & 5% customs on the total value (incl Shipping). Although i generally have the international seller minus their local taxes (i.e 19% VAT in Germany) which they are happy to do as they are exporting the goods - so it generally works out pretty even. Great watch, blue dial 4500V is what i initially wanted until i watched some youtube clips (incl yours) on the black dial dual time (7900V) and it's now my daily. Unaware if you can contact your seller to see if they can refund their local taxes, may be worth a conversation?

Ridah, I must say I think you went totally impulsive on this purchase specially for the fact that you already have the same exact watch with the same exact dial in pink gold and you paid the same if not more for the stainless version?! 🤔 It is a beautiful watch no doubt but to have two of the same model in different metal is little redundant for me personally. I would’ve gone for the blue or black just to change it up a little. I definitely understand the sickness we have as I also spend a lot of time and money on our crazy hobby and trust me my friend I’ve made some large impulse purchases as well🤫! But obviously that just goes to show how incredibly gorgeous and intoxicating that blue dial is! On another note I was extremely fortunate and I was able to purchase from the authorized dealer a 4600 E on the bracelet! 🥳 It is absolutely gorgeous and I am extremely happy that it is still a sleeper and not a hyped model as I got “the call” just over five weeks after getting on the list.

I got my VC overseas in 2019 from a local AD. I’ve worn it on weekends, and it has just stopped working last week. ( it’s out of warranty) I never had this issue with Rolex or Patek..

Congrats on your new purchase…it’s awesome 👍
You did what you had to do since you wanted the watch immediately. The cost is irrelevant because that is only determined by you and obviously you can afford the cost even on the gray market.
    A banger of a watch and I’m envious-enjoy!!!

    • @theladder06
      @theladder06 Před 2 lety

@@WatchSociety I think anything Vacheron should be admired for their history, beauty and cfratfsmanship. The Traditionnelle line is a beautiful dress watch. The Overseas is so much more versatile… Jeans, shorts or a T-shirt, doesn’t matter, she’s a thing of beauty✌️

    Congratulations on the watch.
There is nothing wrong with buying two watches of the same model in different variations
such as dial color or metals. I own a P.P 5205R-001( White) and a P.P 5205R-010(Black) I am considering buying one in blue, I love the watch so much.
I also own the V.C Overseas in blue. I could not stop noticing the rubber strap. May I ask where you purchased it from?

I brought my Daytona from grey market, since I’m in US I dealt directly with private seller and paid nothing extra. No regrets my watch is over 80% in profit even after paying high grey market price.

You know Barry, the thought of the SS vacheron overseas hitting 100K crossed my mind, but honestly, i do not see it happening.
They are owned by a large group and that will always draw the thin line between them and the likes of AP etc.
In fact i think the SS may go down a little a bit. I say this and i am possibly partially responsible for the increase! 😂
Nonetheless its a high build quality good looking watch that is truly versatile

@@WatchSociety I had a couple of opportunities to buy the VC Chrono at a discount. I had the blue dial in my hand and I could have bought that for about 25k.
