4DRC F3 Beginners GPS Camera Drone Flight Test Review

- This folding GPS camera drone is very appropriate for beginner fliers. Weighing only 239 grams, it does not require registration in most countries. Find it here bit.ly/4DRC_F3
Pros
- Light weight and folding arms make it easily portable. Comes with its own carrying case for the drone and accessories. Weighing only 239 grams with installed battery, it does not require registration in most countries.
- Available with both GPS and Optical Flow sensors, or as cheaper version with Optical Flow only for stable automatic horizontal hover. The GPS version also provides other abilities of automatic return to home and landing on command, loss of signal, or on low battery. It also allows use of advanced flight modes such as follow me, and circle position.
- 7.4V 1800mah battery provides up to 25 minutes of flight time in stable hover. I got 18 1/2 minutes of flight time while maneuvering the drone.
- FPV video and photos are viewed and recorded directly to your phone via 802.11ac WiFi using the 4DRC Pro. This app is available here on Google Play bit.ly/4DRC-Pro and here on the App Store bit.ly/4DRC_Pro. Video is recorded at 1080p or interpolated 4K resolution, depending on your phone's processor.
Cons
- The 4DRC Pro app is very processor intensive. It produced significant lag with FPV video. It also had some unresolved "bugs" in that waypoint flying would not work. Additionally, the geofence feature was using feet for units, while displaying meters.
- This drone uses brushed motors in order to keep down both the weight and cost of the drone. However, they may require replacement someday as brushed motors are less durable than more costly brushless motors.
- The drone requires using a phone or tablet with 802.11ac WiFi. Not everyone has this type of WiFi on their devices. Before purchasing, it is very important to first verify that your phone is capable of using 802.11ac WiFi. To do such, simply Google search your phone model, along with the terms 802.11 and specifications. Then see if 802.11ac shows up in the search results.

I bought this Dag - Gum drone ( 4DRC - F3 ) mainly bc of your video. In general you like I, like all drones. But you don't like everything about one drone. The 4DRG - F3 you did.
I want to fly commercially but until I win the lottery, I fly things like this. Maybe I'll post a 30 second video of my virgin flight when it arrives.
@@ms.batman6087 dawg what😂
Love the reviews sir. Not everybody can afford a DJI,Auetel over a grand drone! So alot of us still love these reviews of the lower end drones!
mini 2 is around 500 ukp
Even if you could afford it would it make sense? You could crash it the first day lol then you’d be out all that cash. Bring on budget drones!
Dji mini is impressive for 400 bucks. Im saving for one next. They can go kilometers away and have a badass badass camera. They cant handle but 20 mph wind but for the size thats amazing
This is one of the best drone reviews ive seen. Most people oddly dont go in depth and do this annoying thing of only showing the drone flying in the air not the actual drone footage or showing the drone flying but putting a tiny box on the corner of the video with drone footage.
Right
Just bought this drone as my first one but yet to fly it so thought i would check out some videos of it, this was the most informative video ive seen Thanks
Nice review i am in Nigeria just ordered the drone waiting for it to be delivered i am a first time drone flyer thanks so much
I just bought this drone not flown it yet though, learning about all the functions first I'm in the UK it's a bit foggy today so will wait for good weather to try it out, thanks for your great tips and advice helped me a lot.
This is the best review I have ever seen.
Thanks for the explanation and drone test.
am just buy this yesterday and your review is so motivated for me 👌👌👍
Subscribed because of this pal, Ricky from UK.
Thanks for the instructional video, you're amazing! Very detailed explanation with pros and cons, especially at disclosing fake information about the features advertised by the manufacturer, in short, you're ultimately a pro!

Amazing review. 👏
Nice review perfect drone for beginner
Got this for my 13th birthday figured I'd watch the review incase there's any tips
I REALLY LIKE YOUR VIDEO, IT SHOW A LOT INFORMATION. THANKS
Really, really good review. Thank you.
Great review, thank you. I'm just starting out with drones and you convinced me to get this model. Good stuff.
How did you get on with it? Thinking of getting my Son one for Xmas.
@@Norton1531 How did you get on with it? Thinking of getting my Son one for Birthday.
@@ntai_protagonist Had a lot of issues connecting it to his iPhone. As a result he got very frustrated with it and has barely used it. I’m tempted to buy it back off him, I’m dying to have a go of it.
@@Norton1531 what about the drone itself, any problems with it?
- how long does it take to charge a battery?
- Are the materials of the drone is good?
@@ntai_protagonist No idea about battery charge time. It was a gift to my son, so I’ve had very little to do with it. The quality at first felt a little bit plasticky, but I guess that’s to keep the weight down. It looks very cool, and the camera images I did see were excellent.
I like this review..i just bought a new drone same u got in this video..ive never flown a drone ..i still havent fly drone yet..im to scared to crash it..anyways great video
Thank you, so nice to see
Just watched your video which was most informative. I'm just curious at to what you're doing when you say you're syncing the cameras and re moving your hand beside the remote unit. I'm also having some difficulty with the 4DRC Pro app in that it keeps going to "detecting device" which takes me back to the initial start page and I have to go through all the GPS setup functions and compass sync. Any help would be most appreciated. Cheers!!
Very nice looking drone! Mini killer lol
شكرا لك،. بالتوفيق 👍
Stopped when you said it wasn't 4K and saw the props in the videos. LOL
What is the max range of this drone? And what is the max height? Does it have dual camera for different angle view?
Got this drone for Christmas had no clue what to do with it I did the instructions and got it to work but when I taken off I had no clue how to control it I’m watching this now and am going to try it tomorrow to see if I can fly it better
When you get to your flying area, make sure to do the compass calibration as demonstrated in the video.

Great review on the drone.. I was wondering how are u able to lower the gimbal ? Having problems with mine
By moving the lens up or down with your finger before taking off. This cheap drone does not have remote up / down control of the camera lens.
Hello, I have this drone, can someone help? When I ask it to come home (from where it took of from) it goes flying off. Don’t know why it’s doing this?
Bought this Dag - Gum drone (4DRC - F3) Mainly bc of your video. You liked everything on this beginner drone. As a whole you like all drones like me; but not everything. So Imma going to give the Dag - Gum thing a try.
I want to fly commercially; however, I can't afford a (Pro-Drone) until I win the lottery,
Maybe I'll leave a small 30 second VIDEO of my virgin flight of the 4DCR-F3.
Hi there from the UK. Many thanks for such an informative video, great advice.
So, I bought one of these creatures off of the back of your review and have 2 quick comments and one query I hope you can assist with.
Comments as follows.... circle mode worked, but it transcribed its circle with its centre about 10m away from me! No idea why.
Waypoint nav worked fine. Go figure.
My big question though is..... as ive only got 32Gb main phone memory and only about 4Gb free, then is there a way the App can be configured to send drone footage to the phone's external SD card? NB. My phone is capable saving the entire feed and not doing the interpolation thing your phone did.
Anyway, thanks for a great review and please note its entirely your fault I bought it. 😂
PS funniest comment ive seen in a long time from the guy who mentioned.... do the elastic bands come with the drone 😂😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
It's good that you mention that this drone is using 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Lots of people are having trouble pairing this drone with their phone not realizing that their phone doesn't support the 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard. Some of the adverts for this drone incorrectly mention the 2.4 GHz support which further deepens the confusion.
Recently, I'm having trouble with the controller which is beeping constantly. The period between beeps is getting shorter after a half a minute or so. Any idea what could cause this?
Beeping controllers usually indicate low battery. Try a fresh set of batteries in the controller.
awsome vid what kinda phone are you using ??
Ulefone Armor 6E phone.
Hey Quad - Good video. I just purchased this unit to add to my gear. In your video you timed the battery at 18 minutes and change, so since my unit comes with two I guess that puts me 35-40 minutes???
Yes. But as this drone has brushed motors, make sure to allow your drone a 15 minute cool down period between flights. This will the longevity of the motors.
@@Quadcopter101 great thanks for the tip
@@Quadcopter101 how long should a flight last
If your phone doesn't have the 802.11ac you won't be able to access the drones camera or you won't be able to take pictures and record videos ?
That's correct. Additionally you won't be able to use its advanced flight control features of follow me, circle position, and waypoints.
Hi 101 can you du a f10 review?!
1) Did you eventually adjust your phone video settings to capture 4K? If so, how? I have the v4 version and the video is capturing SD video only. My phone is set to 1280x720p at the moment. 2) Tried calibration by phone and remote. My drone automatically flies in it's desired direction using the "1 push take-off". It doesn't matter which direction that it's facing on the ground, it chooses a direction. In order to get the drone to hover in place, did you add manual readjustments with the remote bumper buttons prior to your 1 button takeoff?
The V4 is an entirely different drone than the 4DRC F3 or F4. The V4 is a low cost, beginners learn to fly drone. Its camera is not the same as the F3. It also does not have GPS hover control like the F3, and must be flown manually. That's why it drifts when you fly it. Any wind will push it. You must manually counter the drifting by moving the right stick to maintain hover (it takes a lot of practice). Its camera is only 720p. The app software can electronically interpolate to 1080p, but it offers no improvement in video quality, since its electronically stretched to the higher resolution (it will still look 720p).
@@Quadcopter101 Understood.
However, I have only gotten SD footage out of it. Below 640x480. The drone app has an option to change the video from “smooth” to “auto” to something else. It doesn’t change the resolution.
@@tieuellegacy that could be. I never had a chance to review the V4.

My 4drc f3 won’t connect to the 4drc pro app. Any suggestions? It’s connected to the drones wifi network, and calibration was complete but the app just says “device not connected” I’ve tried everything, any advice? iPhone XS
Have you checked iPhone app permissions?
Cool, you’re in the east
What’s the comparable drone with brushed motors thats $40 more?
Hi I just got a drone just like the one you have in the video when you turn or should I say spin the drone do you have to do that every time you use it
Yes, you should.
Ok thanks great help
Wht is the range of this drone quadcopter 101
Hi, thanks for the vid. I have this drone, the Richie but I cannot link the camera to the app on my phone. I just want to use the remote for flying but I got the drone to take a few vids and pics. Can you offer any advice for linking the app please?
Turn on the drone, and place it on a flat level surface. Then open your phone's WiFi settings. Look for the drone's WiFi signal on your phone, and connect to it, the same way that you would connect to your home WiFi (no password needed). Then open the app. You should now be able to view video from the camera in the app.
Okay so I got in my drone today, not this one, it was one of the same brand but smaller, and it really sucked. So I'm looking at this video to find a better version, and I was wondering is this worth the 70ish dollars that it is? Like I am only gonna try to get a drone 1 more time before I give up trying to get one till I'm old enough to get the money for a REALLY good one! So yeah please someone tell me if this is worth it and how well it works from your experience! thank you! :D
Listen, if you're not used to flying a drone at all yet I seriously would get a toy drone to practice with it. Then when you fly this 4DCR-F3 it'll be like Cadillac. But this is great to for your starter to pro - drones.
@@ms.batman6087 Sweet thanks! I'll find something that works.
Please Quadcopter 101 release another video about how to setup the jumper t lite:) open tx are not easy sometimes for beginners and almost no instruction come with the jumper t lite
I was going to produce my own video. But this guy did a better job than what I could do. Please see the following video czcams.com/video/mnazg4aZe_I/video.html
HI, sorry but I dont understand this optical flow mode, can you please explain it and what would you use it for over GPS mode, thanks.
Optical flow mode allows the drone to hover automatically without drifting. It does this by using a belly camera that looks down at the ground. The onboard flight control board (computer) uses this imagery to automatically adjust pitch and roll to prevent the drone from drifting. This is mainly useful indoors where GPS satellite signals may be blocked. It also can be useful outdoors for a quick launch of the drone without need of calibrating the GPS compass. The disadvantage of optical flow is that it doesn't keep track of its position. Thus it can't be used to conduct an automatic return to home and landing (like you can do with the GPS activated)..
@@Quadcopter101 thank you!!!

Hello Quadcopter 101, so I bought this drone and when it came the drone was working fine, but then when I was gonna connect to the camera, I connected it to the WiFi, and downloaded the app and then the camera was working, but suddenly it got disconnected, I wasnt flying far or anything, I was in-reach, I landed the drone and turned it on again, but the drone's WiFI did not show up, I went to iPhone Edit WiFi networks page, and I saw the WiFI of the drone there, but I still could not connect, I forgot the network but still the WiFi is not showing up, I contacted the company (they did nothing), and im wondering if there is a way to fix this issue or I use a unsupported device, my device is a iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Also I tried on many 2 other devices, Samsung A12, iPhone 7 but the WiFi network never showed up. even if the WiFi showed up once, it suddenly disconnected, and I never saw the WiFi again.
Some phones will alert you that there is no connection to the internet in the WiFi signal (which is true). But then, some phones may ask you after 20 seconds if you wish to stay connected to that WiFi. If you don't select "Stay connected", they will automatically disconnect you. The next time you fly, and after you connect to the WiFi signal, stay on your phone's WiFi settings page for about 20 seconds. See if that no internet warning window pops up. If it does, select "Stay connected".
No what I mean is that the Drone's WiFi isnt even showing up on the internet page, showed up once, never showed again.@@Quadcopter101
Can the motors be swopped for brushless? If so do you have a link please?
No, they can't. Sorry.
I love this drone but I hate the fact the company put fake antennas on my controller the real antenna is your first guess 😂😂 but great drone and awesome video your the reason I bought my drone they need to pay your 😂
I need help please I just got one for my boyfriend and we been trying to gourde out how to fly it for about an hour now and the red light on the controller keeps linking constantly and making loud noises what does that mean ?
Does it have a search light on the bottom like. Most drones ?
This one does not have a belly light.
is the drone video footage enhanced? or in anyway can the propellers be removed from the angle of the video?
It is not enhanced. And yes, the propellers can be removed by tilting the camera angle slightly downward, until they are no longer in view.
@@Quadcopter101 Thank you very much! I want to have one!!! Happy Holidays
Just got this drone and was loving it for the first few minutes till the batteries died. Now I am pretty sure they arent charging as the charging cable just stays red (manual says it should flash green, mine just stays solid red). has the drone sd slot?
No it does not. It only can record to your phone via WiFi.
Do the two rubber bands come with it? Lol
I started doing that to hold my thicker phone in those skinny phone holders. It was like the manufacturers thought that everyone owned only iPhone 6's. But I think that the manufacturers got the hint. I've noticed that many recent drones have bigger phone holders that easily accommodate bigger phones.
Can't figure out how to connect it to the app
Turn on the drone and place it on a flat level surface. After 30 seconds, turn on your phone, and go into its WiFi settings. Look for the drone's WiFi signal in your phone's WiFi settings. Connect to this signal with your phone, the same way that you would connect to your home WiFi (no password required). Then open the drone's app. The video should now be available in the app.
Note that if you can't find the drone's WiFi signal on your phone, verify that your phone can use 802.11ac WiFi. If your phone does not have 802.11ac WiFi, then it will not work with this drone.
do mean data, not wifi ?? never mind persistence always wins lol thanks for all the tips I'll see you in your next blog to dark to play oh well, yup new here
I meant WiFi. The drone transmits it's video using 802.11ac WiFi. You connect to it's WiFi signal the same way that you would connect your phone to home WiFi. Then open the drone's app to view the drone's video signal.
@@Quadcopter101 thanks so much
Only one time Calibration?
Or every time fly the dron. ?
Every time that you change the battery.
Not first

quite good for beginners.. but don't expect much..
did a few crashes into a tree but still OK..
less than USD100 - 150 budget drone..
but there are some other brands which are slightly better.. at the same budget..
I'm having issues even seeing the drone in my WiFi on my phone
