  • Song: CRYING IN THE RAIN
    Singers: Peter and Gordon
    Songwriters: Howard Greenfield & Carole King
    -
    I'll never let you see
    The way my broken heart is hurting me
    I've got my pride and I know how to hide
    All the sorrow and pain
    I'll do my crying in the rain
    If I wait for cloudy skies
    You won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
    You'll never know that I still love you
    So though the heartaches remain
    I'll do my crying in the rain
    Raindrops falling from heaven
    Will never wash away my misery
    But since we're not together
    I'll wait for stormy weather
    To hide these tears I hope you'll never see
    Someday when my crying's done
    I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun
    I may be a fool
    But till then, darling, you'll never see me complain
    I'll do my crying in the rain

    I can't believe I've never heard this version from Peter and Gordon. Fantastic. Their voices are so complimentary, like the Everly's. It works. It's beautiful and this song always brings a tear to my eyes.

    This song reminds me of the day my wife of 18 years left me. my heart was broken for it was not only about me, but my 3 children tender hearts that did not understand {WHY} mom and dad must hate each other. I sold my house and moved to Florida ...its been35 years...and I still don't understand. Much of what's happened. So I do my Crying in the rain. Sniff

      check out GLENN DANZIG's version of this. he's an old school heavy metal punk rocker who created punk band THE MISFITS. his version is just him playing the grand piano. he's notorious because his singin' voice is like ELVIS.

      This is Washington State in front of Interstate 5 going east with Portland Oregon to your right and Seattle Washington to your left. Typical Pacific Northwest weather around summer time as the brown grass shows.

    • @janicehead3079
      @janicehead3079 Před 4 lety

      Actually I do know that intersection vaguely since I visit White Rock BC often. Before the COVID crisis shuttered the borders, we visited Seattle, and environs often. In fact I was brought up in Vancouver, BC. The point of my comment was that the Pacific NW seems like an odd video location for such a British troop. Considering the amount of rain the British Isles is known for, I thought it odd that a home grown video of London or another British location would have been more appropriate for Peter and Gordon.

    • @peterushijima5274

      Yes, they managed to recapture the Everlys' sound. But if they're trying to imitate the arrangement, they could use more kettle drums and guitar. Instrumental bridge is cute but not really necessary and they could lose the sliding key finish, IMHO.

    The British Invasion of 1964 was essentially the Brits recycling American rock 'n' roll and giving it their little twist. And yes this includes the Beatles.

    • @goplad1
      @goplad1 Před 7 lety +3

      +Respectfully disagree with you here. The Beatles themselves admitted they were influenced by American music and cited many artists who meant something to them. Listening to their early work it is absolutely obvious they incorporated these influences in their music. Their Motown covers were very good but their covers of Carl Perkins rockabilly tunes were embarrassing. Their original music in that early time was mainly what would later be coined "bubblegum". You may not agree but this is absolutely the case.
