Hey guys So i visited Helsinki and i have a lot to share with you guys, it was very crazy but most importantly enjoy this video and i apologise for the audio quality!
Its really good video! If you are in Helsinki still, i recommend visiting the Uspenky Cathedral aswell (the dark red church in the background). Its an orthodox church, while the Helsinki cathedral is lutheran.
Yeee🎉
Yes! You finally came to explore my home town. I'm so happy! Welcome to Helsinki and hope you enjoy/enjoyed your stay 🤗💕🙌🏻
@@neymarjr3712 Yes, indeed, that's also worth visiting!
Need more Helsinki videos!
Most of the churches in Finland are open to freely visit. Visiting historical churches is actually a pretty popular tourist thing all over the Europe.
Yep, only closed if there is private event going on.
Highly recommend going to Suomenlinna. Ferry goes from that harbor market you walked past. If you want to see a rougher, "non-touristy" side of Helsinki, go to Kallio friday night.
Or Kontula, Kallio is pretty gentrified nowadays
@@viljanov haha
@@viljanov why Dont you go straight to Puhos
My Dad was head of the Geological Museum in Helsinki (which used to be right next to the cathedral) and a taught geology at the University until his retirement. He wanted to popularise geology his entire career, and the use of rocks in buildings was one of his favourite topics. So... on his last day at work, they actually hand washed a decent chunk of the cathedral steps with his colleagues and students. 😅 With permission of course.
He passed away a few years ago, but your video brought nice and warm memories from my past. 😎
I've had choir conserts in that building loads of times. Happy you got to see it!
Alexander II was known to be the only truly respected Russian emperor in Finland, and after his death as a victim of assassination, the Finns really missed him. The erection of that statue in his memory in the Senate Square speaks volumes for it.
Russian propaganda. No sane person misses tyrannical Russian emperors. They tried to destroy Finnish culture.
During the Russification period, people took flowers to his statue as a form of protest. Bobrikov, who was in charge of the Russification efforts, had his office facing the square and would see this. He had the flowers taken away, but people would just bring more.
What I pleasant surprise you got to visit Helsinki already! 👍
The music video for Darude Sandstorm was filmed on the steps of the cathedral. Enjoy Helsinki
Some 200millionPeople has seen that Video ! If You compare that to Finnish Baseball video - that has just some 2 milloin ! There are 300 teams that play Finnish Baseball vs One Darude !
Alexander the 2nd freed slaves in Russia and strengthened Finland's autonomy. He also supported Finnish identity, language and culture. However regarding Finland, he was also complex and questionable leader, as many historical (or present...) figures are.
Yes, outdoor videos are back.
Lapland's Eddie Murphy visited Helsinki. I saw you in Hakaniemi.Bro .I would have liked to exchange a few words, but work required. Great channel you have
Eddie Murphy of Lapland! 😆I also get Eddie Murphy vibes from him!
😂
You should visit Turku too. Tuomiokirkko is not fancy but much older (from 1300 or something like that). Castle of Turku is nice place to visit too, full of history. And archipelago is very unik, there is no archipelago like that nowhere in this world. Literally thousands of islands. You can hire bike (or sailing boat) or car and make some 2-3 day trip throug islands.
Cool! You finally got to Helsinki. Now you will see how pretty city that "Daughter of the Baltic Sea" is.
Cops doesnt mind you at all even if you go talk to em :D They chill
When you're on top of the stairs looking down, on the left side the yellow building has bomb damage from WW2 on it's stone base (the building where the oppressor Boprikov was killed a zealous nationalistic Finn). On the opposite side is the University building, which was also in flames in WW2 due to Soviet terror bombings on Helsinki 1939-1944.
You don't need to be scared of cops in Finland. Generally they are very friendly.
Hi! Nice to see ur vids again❤
That one building was Kansalliskirjasto (aka the National Library of Finland). Greetings from your friendly librarian in Pello.
Hope you enjoy Helsinki!
I’m just seeing this I did
Thank you so much
Finally you got out and abound. Hope you took the train ;)
I used to drink with my friends at the tuomion kirkko basement. It’s a massive closed off cellar with tables, brick walls and such.
We shouldn’t have been there tbh.
Hope you have good time in this city man!
Nice you get to Helsinki! If i had seen you I would have come to say hello. :-) I hope you had a pleasant visit, you have been sitting in Sodankylä rather long.
Welcome to Helsinki! There's a lot for you to explore. Korkeasaari Zoo and Suomenlinna fortress and the amusement park Linnanmäki are some examples
Often Americans are fairly easy to tell apart from normal people. But your way of wearing the label USA and the flag makes it even more simple. Thanks for your consideration for the public safety.
😂or😢or😮
Stop bullying Americans
As if Americans can't be normal 😅
There are only 2 genders: normal people and Americans.
