    My whole problem with Dennis's expired drivers license isn't just that it's illegal to drive and could result in charges, fines and/or jail time as well as the vehicle being towed. But he was filmed driving the car that wasn't even in his name on that expired license. His employee rented it with her money and her license and thankfully nothing happened but if it had, SHE was liable for that rental and she would've been in trouble too. He's so unprofessional, careless and reckless. It's fine if he wants to destroy his own life but he's dragging others into his messy, dangerous and irresponsible actions.

      the whole burning man situation shows a concerning level of impulsivity on dennis’ part; he spent a huge amount of money without even understanding what he was buying and at very short notice. but he really took it to a new level by planning to rent a car despite not having a license, thus putting the burden of liability on his employee and not informing her beforehand

      I'm curious how they got there? Does he own a car? Did they fly? If so how did he get on the plane? Passport possibly but only because he must know his licence was expired so this was a clearly intentional deceitful action regarding the rental. Idk the protocol to renew a licence in California but its pretty easy and straightforward in most state's. It makes me ponder why would he not renew when he has the money and time to? Now I hate to say it but with all these recent behaviors and revelations I wonder if in fact it was a oversight or is there a issue as to why he cannot renew? I also wonder if medications or substances or a mental health crisis is happening. Or is he a straight dick and had us fooled the whole time. Its bizzare.

      That whole car rental situation & ill planning was just the final proof no one needed on just how selfish & immature he is. A wealthy grown man of 37 would take a young woman who's way his junior in the "company" to a desert, expecting her to read his mind for what type of trip this was going to be, offering a packing list, or even a hint to the harsh conditions she'd be expected to endure, with information on the video he was planning.
      But _THEN_ expecting her to rent a car, not knowing if she had even a credit card with a high enough limit to; They're so lucky they let her, because I always thought you had to be 25, but Dennis just claimed Tiana is only 21. She's in real legal jeopardy, since he most likely made her lie on a signed document that no one else but her drove the car or maybe a designated, insured person who can legally drive, but not Dennis (on tape!!)
      Dennis is acting like he's some major influencer big shot saying things like, "I have a business," & throwing around _"MY_ LAWYER" in that 'I'm richer than you' tone. He's everything awful that he used to decry, now adding treating employees like shוt to the list.

You don't just have to show that they lied, that they lied with malicious intent, but that you have suffered some kind of harm from their words. So likely his intent is to claim that her words have ruined his reputation, but that's obviously untrue. More than that, she didn't mention his name, he did. So many things wrong with this scenario. First off, you cannot drive a rental car if you are not listed on the contract. You cannot be listed on the contract without a valid license. If you do drive a rental car that you are not legally allowed to drive, and something happens, any accidents will not covered by insurance, leaving the person who put their name on the contract, along with their credit card, to be on the hook. Dennis was allegedly driving down a road that was so bumpy that she was hitting her head on the ceiling. Sounds like a great way to treat a rental car, especially when she would be on the hook for any damages, since he’s not supposed to be driving the rental, or driving at all. Sounds extremely selfish to knowingly put anyone, much less your employee, in such a potentially liable situation, for the sake of a youtube video. NDA agreements do not cover illegal activities. If your employer has you sign one, then proceeds to take part illegal activities, you cannot be sued for speaking up. Sounds like she may have good standing for a lawsuit against her employer for a few things.

    His complaint about having to do her job sounds like such an entitled baby. Waaah, I have to do something for myself. Plus the whole reason why she was worried about putting down her card for the rental car is that when you put your name down to rent the car, ANY damage made to that car can be charged to her card. And he went off road when they got to the desert, so he clearly didn't give a shit. She does say he had the insurance, but it's been my experience that the rental company requires you pay for the repairs first and then get reimbursed after the fact. So yeah, I'm on her side with that whole thing, because he just basically sat back and made her do everything - again, like an entitle baby.

    Driving with an "expired" license is an infraction technically but usually it just means someone didn't go to the bureau and fill out some rote paperwork and pay a fee to renew it every few years (it varies from state to state). So it's not thought of as super severe especially if it's only recently expired. If you're pulled over you're more likely to be let off with a warning and a reminder to go get it done ASAP.
    But having a "suspended" license means you committed some major violation and had your license temporarily revoked as punishment or because you're deemed not safe enough to drive. So getting caught driving with that is a huge problem and you'll suffer major consequences.

    • @louhortonsculpture
      @louhortonsculpture Před rokem +1

      Yes. Expired license is no big deal and unless you’re pulled over no one will know. Suspended license is because you did a crime, often driving while impaired and either got into a wreck or were pulled for swerving. But even after going to court and during the period while your license is suspended you still have to get pulled over or be doing something suspicious to get caught driving without a valid license. Usually there’s a provision for driving to work. The consequences are fines and longer suspension of the license. Your car’s plates aren’t suspended. So police scanning cars won’t find drivers without a valid license. It’s hard to get caught, and the consequences aren’t that bad if you’ve got money, so that’s why we don’t take it take seriously. And if you’re poor, you gotta get to work, so you drive and hope.

  • @Jessicaddy
    @Jessicaddy Před rokem +20

    To answer your question in the beginning of the video: YES! driving with a suspended license IS a bad thing in America, especially depending on why it’s suspended. HOWEVER, Tiana said that his license was *expired* which is still an invalid license, but it’s not as serious as driving with a revoked license (suspended license). My husband works for the Highway Patrol, and it’s my understanding that you will be fined and could possibly go to jail for driving while revoked. I believe when law enforcement runs the tags on a vehicle and the person who the car is registered to shows up as revoked, this is probable cause for a traffic stop. Whereas with an *expired* license, law enforcement wouldn’t know until they have it in hand, (so the person is usually pulled over for something else, and then the expired license is discovered when the officer asks for it), but you can still get charged for this as well. Again, this is just my understanding and I’m not an expert, so this may not be 100% accurate, but I know enough to know that it isn’t taken lightly and is definitely something that can get you in trouble. Hope this helps a little. 🤷🏼‍♀️
    If anyone would like to clarify this any further, or if it’s different in the state you live in, feel free to add a reply to my comment.

    Expired means you didn’t go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and wait in line and pay the renewal. The details vary from state to state, but where I live, there was an extension granted because of the pandemic. Even if your license said it expired in December 2021, for example, you could still drive on it legally.
    A suspended license means you actively did something wrong to have it taken away, like a DUI, or didn’t pay child support, etc. You could have a piece of plastic that hasn’t expired, but if you’re suspended, it’s in the database that you can’t drive. If you’re pulled over, the cops will run your plates and license and can tell if you’re suspended.

    I think there’s always 3 sides, the 2 involved and then the middle. As for the credit card rental car thing, I find it very odd he had her put it on her card. I work for a very small company, less then 15 employees. I schedule appointments for our techs to go replace/repair data cabling in stores and stuff. For years they each had their own company card for purchases. Some started to abuse them and then Covid, then the cards expired. The boss decided not to issue new ones. We only had about 6 techs in the field at that time and we purchase all their materials so they didn’t really need a card, it was mostly for backup. Well one day a tech needed stuff at Home Depot, boss is overseas (he’s still military reserves), I don’t have the card # either but I sure as heck won’t ask the tech to use his personal card. We could’ve scheduled a return trip, but that would probably Lisa the customer off, keep their stuff down longer, all that mess. So I used my own card. I willingly did this and let my boss know to reimburse me the $75 on my next check. But this is a job I’ve been doing for 6+ years.I could never imagine a boss asking someone to do that, especially a fairly new employee. The boundaries NEED to be clearly defined and it sounds like he had none. He should’ve provided 2 tents or an RV with multiple sleeping options. She should’ve had a safe sleeping place that was private, if they both had to sleep in the car that’s more boundaries not being respected. They aren’t friends hanging out having a fun road trip, as he’s said his was work. But how can he keep calling it work when he NEVER acted like a boss? You can’t have it both ways. This lawsuit is a joke and I think he did it to scare her into being quiet, he knows she has much more to tell. If he wasn’t scared then he’d have no reason to sue bc she never once said his name.

Everyone’s drivers licenses expire (in Texas it’s every 7 years) and you have to renew them, but suspended license means the law actually took it from you. I’ve been caught with an expired license of a few months and didn’t get a ticket, he just said renew it and gave me a warning. Also to renew it all I had to do was go online and request a new one, I didn’t even have to go to the DMV or take a new picture. You still have to work, go to the doctor, go to school, take your kids places etc. And you can’t do that without being able to drive. Now it also depends on WHY your license was taken. I didn’t know in the new state I had moved to that I had to report an accident I was in (not my fault, I was hit) to the dmv because in my previous state you don’t do that. Well they suspended me for a year for that. A lot of times license punishments are a classist issue more than a safety one.

    It honestly depends. If it’s expired recently they will give you a ticket or let you off with a warning but if it’s been months/years then high chance you’ll get arrested. My husband had a suspended license and he did not know (we had moved out of his grandparents house and his mom forgot to give him the notice for a court date) and it was literally 2 days suspended and they let him go but told him he needed to fix that ASAP (this was 6 years ago)

    Part of the “fun” of burning man is that you are out in the middle of the desert where money isn’t exchanged (except for an entry fee) and you bring everything you need and at the end of the event you leave no trace. You aren’t even allowed to drive around unless you have a special permit for your vehicle, most of the permits are granted to people who have rolling art pieces and people with transportation vehicles. It’s actually a really neat idea but while you can find free alcohol and free food out there sometimes water is almost impossible to find.

    He’s on the failed comedian to right wing reactionary pipeline, I give it 6 months before he does some “why I left ‘the left’” video.
    For him to sue her over this is the most power-abusive, hypocritical overreaction possible. All the good will he built over the years (when his content was entertaining) means nothing bc it had to be an act if he thinks this is appropriate- or even logical. What did she expose? That he’s disorganized and impulsive? Not thinking things through? That is consistent with his own content the past several weeks… HE has provided the evidence that supported her experience. Just look at the roasts.
    And oh my god… ‘I must be a good boss bc ppl are willing to work for me’ 😂😂😂 that is the funniest thing Dennis has ever said and he was so sincere which makes it even better.

    In Canada if you get caught with a suspended license you get a ticket and possibly have your car impounded depending on the cop and what you were doing to get pulled over. If it's expired by like a few days or a week they may give you just a warning especially if you didn't know it expired. But if it's like months or years expired they give you a ticket and have someone come pick you up

  • @reginamachamer821

    An expired license is very different from a suspended license lol at least here it is.. if it's expired they'll usually give you a pass if it hasn't been expired too long, and they'll just tell you to go get a new one.. but if it's *suspended* bc you violated traffic laws or broke some sort of crime.. you can get in a lot of trouble for driving with a suspended license lol
    Edit: first of all.. I meant to say committed some sort of crime** lol and also I didn't mean to imply that it's just fine to drive with an expired license. Just in my experiences and going off of situations friends have been in, at least where I live, a suspended license would usually get you into more trouble if you got pulled over. Unless ofc the license expired like 8 months ago, or you've been stopped and cited or warned already. Also I haven't had to deal with anything like this in years so.. I have no idea really lol

    • @DV-kr4mg
      @DV-kr4mg Před rokem +3

      Also, if it is expired over 6 months (at least in my state) you will be charged the equivalent of driving on a revoked (worse than a suspended) license. Idk what the laws are there but there ARE repercussions, if they can prove you knew, youre going to jail. If you crash, you're screwed especially if you knew it was expired like he did when he drove the rental (which is also illegal). In a rental they want the person who paid/put their card and license up to be the one driving bc of liability. They'd never agree to allow him to drive it on an expired DL.

    To answer your question, a suspended driver's license is not the same as an expired driver's license. A suspended driver's license means you can not legally operate a vehicle so you either end up in jail or facing huge fines, also the car can be towed. You can get a ticket for driving with an expired license, and in certain situations go to jail but for the most part I think you get a warning or "fix- it ticket" (fines waived or reduced if you correct the problem within a certain period of time.)

      From what I've heard the worst part of having a suspended license seems to be the hoops they make you jump through and how expensive it is to get it reinstated.

    The penalties for driving without a license aka “ridin dirty” are pretty harsh where I live in the US, but tons of people seem to do it and get away with it for a time, until the inevitable happens. You’d think it wouldn’t be as common as it is considering you’ll lose your license and end up on probation for years not to mention jail time if you’ve got priors. Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that Dennis was too busy having his head up his own ass to renew his license.

    I think when driving with a suspended liscense in America, people simply just don’t really care. normally many would see it as a problem and in America if they have a car, it runs and drives, they will drive regardless. they will literally drive around while things are coming off the car as they drive. People are really stuck in their ways.

    Driving with a suspended license can be pretty serious. You're usually only caught if you commit another crime, because why else would the cops pull you over to check, but you can get a pretty hefty fine or even jail time for it. So Dennis taking her to court will play a video of him committing a crime as part of his defense
