- Formed in 2013 Zakk Sabbath set forth to be the ultimate Black Sabbath tribute band, and rightfully so, two of its three performers, Zakk Wylde, and Blasko, are cemented members of Ozzy Osbourne's solo band.
Rounding out the rhythm section with Joey Castillo (Queens of the Stone Age, Circle Jerks) Zakk Sabbath has spent the last 8 years touring the world bringing a reenvisioned yet authentic take on Black Sabbath with lower tunings, heavier beats, and the unmistakable flair of Guitarist Zakk Wylde.
In this documentary, Zakk Sabbath celebrates the 50-year anniversary of Black Sabbath's first self-titled album by recording it in its entirety at Zakk Wylde's world-famous recording studio, The Black Vatican. From start to finish we see the band record each song with commentary from each of its members plus interviews from Rock and Metal Legends and contributors such as Henry Rollins (Black Flag) and Don Jamieson (That Metal Show) plus the up-and-coming new generation of rock from Mlny Parsons (Royal Thunder) and then going to the source, The Prince of Darkness Himself, Ozzy Osbourne.

Any one of their albums could have been the best debut album of all time. They created a genre that couldn't be compared to anything else.

@@marktuohy1088 Yeah, every album is incredible for what kind of creation they were aiming for. Sometimes I'll spend an afternoon going through their catalog and I'm still amazed that every album would seem like a flagship album. I can't think of any other band that has a catalog (Ozzy years) that is capable of this. 8 masterpieces all in a row.
I think if Jimmy Hendrix lived, Iommi would have blown him away in his day, and I am a fan of Hendrix
Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler.... I will die a happy man knowing I loved everything you guys gave us. I just wish everyone could know and understand the profound contribution they gifted us with.
I’ve always enjoyed Zakk’s playing, but I think I like it even better when he inserts his style into the Iommi context.
I was just thinking that, I llike the more simplistic bluesy leads he's doing rather than the 100-notes-a-second stuff.

How is that? Unless you're somehow referring to a time before they became Black Sabbath? They only became Black Sabbath and played their first show as Sabbath just under 55 years ago.
If anybody should bring a tribute to Black Sabbath it's Zakk Wylde. Zakk Sabbath show in Amsterdam was way beyond insane and it's in my top 3 shows/concerts ever!!

Black Sabbath is the first and only book of Heavy metal, the genesis of the genre. Even today, Sabbath manages to be heavier than many metal bands today. The originality of Sabbath's sound broke boundaries. Black Sabbath remains the most important and emblematic heavy metal band in history.
If I had a time machine, I'd follow a clueless record buyer from the store after he bought the first Sabbath album and be a fly on the wall watching him listening to the album opener, just to see his face when the first riff hits him after the thunder and bells...🤘
I was that guy, never looked back since, then spent the next who knows how many years being asked "What do you listen to that racket for". Took many years but I think most of them got it eventually :)
Hey man I had a time machine and I did exactly that but the guy saw me hiding behind his curtains cuz I was wearing orange crocs… his mom and dad called the cops and they took me to jail ended up spending three days in booking cause it just so happened there was a holiday that weekend. Not worth it at all
I grew up in a little country town in missouri in the early 70s i did lighting with a band that were my friends- we would rent out community centers and play black sabbath tunes- cost a dollar to get in- what fun memories

That first Sabbath was mesmerizing and scared the hell out of me! I have been a fan ever since.Huge influence in my youth and now 👍🏼🤟🏻
I found Black Sabbath in about 1981. Bought all their back catalog from a sky city bargain bin. I got basically all the Ozzy Era cassettes. A month later I was saving for a guitar and amp. I was 8 or 9 years old. I'm 50 now. I still play every day. I've been everywhere because of those albums and the music that hooked me all those years ago. The people that Black Sabbath affected with the love of music is utterly amazing.
True story, when I was just an early teen my mom used to drag me to garage sales with her on Saturdays. On this particular trip she gave me $1.00 to keep me quiet and she could do her thing while I look for toys that a dollar could buy. I remember the house and the moment I see this album laying on a table for a quarter. I didn't even know what it was or who it was but I did know that the picture I was looking at was the scariest picture I had ever seen. Mom let me get it and on that day I was introduced to Sabbath. The music matched the cover and I've been a fan of that album, my first album ever since. Thanks Mom, you helped me become a Metal Head before I even listened to music. Thank God it wasn't country. As for the documentary this was fkn awesome and I'm sure we will see more of this guy. Bravo

Hearing Oz talk about Tony makes me smile. Sabbath were such a special band, and the way they changed music is so hard to make sense of now. They changed so much.
Sabbaths debut ablum out in Feb 13 1970 is a masterpiece.
The song that really drew me into Sabbath was: Behind The Wall Of Sleep. I heard it on a midnight Metal show back in the early 90's and couldn't get it out of my head! I miss those days...

I too back in about 1982 found an 8 track tape on the road. The label was all wrinkled from getting rain on it. It said Black something. After it dried out I put it in the player. Omg! I loved it immediately. Just thought it was a funny coincidence. Keep on rocking!

Yea, I think we all have a similar story of first hearing sabbath. My dad played the album on vinyl, I must have been like 4 or 5, I can remember hearing that title track and looking at the album cover which felt like it was 2 feet wide I my 5 y.o. hands. Hearing that bell looming at that cover like a witch walking through a forrest or whatever. I remember thinking "this is rad, I'm sold for life."

This is like, the documentary for the first album I've been yearning for. They did a great doc on Paranoid with classic albums and I sooo wished they could have done the other albums. This works very well

Nice you got to see Randy, with Ozzy. My friend and I had convinced his mother to get us tickets, I was in 7th grade, but unfortunately, Randy passed before that show could happen. Also I never got to see Dio, you saw some greats for sure.

I was 12 yesterday old in 1968. I grew up on my parents country and western.one night lying in bed I heard Black Sabbath on a.m radio...I was done listening to Buck Owens!
the first sabbath album came out before there was a genre of metal. people weren't ready for them yet; but people who liked zeppelin, cream, the who ect. loved it...

Cool, I would go see that. I have seen Black Sabbath twice. I did see the original Black Sabbath on Lollapalooza show. I actually worked it on the main stage in Pittsburgh, well Burgestown PA just out side of Pittsburgh about 20 miles. I helped set their gear up. Zack was playing on the show also but not with Black Sabbath but with Black Label Society. I think that tour is what got got Zack with Ozzy. I was standing right by Zack. He came to the main stage stage to watch them set up. Their roadies were older than I am now and I was born in 58. I saw them prior that. I was also working as a tech and Dio was the lead vocalist on the Black and Blue tour with Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath trading headlining daily.
I’m buying this album as soon as I can, and if possible I’m buying Blasko’s DOOM hat along with it!

I had tickets to see Ozzy in Vegas in 2019, but he got his Parkinson's diagnosis...cancelled, waited for a new date then covid hit...that's one show I'm really going to miss not seeing...Blizzard of Ozz was one of my first rock albums...some of his best work...🤘🤘
