I remember 2007 as a quite null year in electronic music.. Minimal and IDM had been the "futuristic/sound designed/forward looking" field the first half of the decade or so, but the "intelligent" ethos that big names like Aphex, Autechre, or even dance numbers like the Tresor or Mutek catalogue was not-that-new anymore.
.. I had no idea that this kind of sound existed back then! (I'm not from london you see)

you should look more into 2007 because a lot more than what you mentioned was going on lol hardstyle evolving into nu style, a new kind of trance, the rise of electro and chiptune, and probably even more lol just saw the comment about untrue aha another reason why 2007 is considered one of the best years for electronic music in general. most of what came after has its roots in 2006/2007

Dude I really like coki he experimented with dubstep and always has the rhythmic groove of dub, coki seriously was on the forefront in my opinion of oldschool dubstep and paved the way for these newer dubstep artists who create creepy ambient dubstep but using modern sound design, coki is probably the most versatile and classic of this genre

@@bluepopbeatz Even at the height of brostep, the ‘true’ stuff continued and remained dope. Look up Deep Medi Musik for great traditional dubstep made in the 2010’s. I think the more traditional dubstep sound is making a bit of a comeback, I’ve lately been to quite a few dubstep sets in South Florida that feature the old sound. I’m often pleasantly surprised to hear the DJs mix classic tracks that can be found on channels like this.
