This is the theme song of my youth.
It's just such a sad thing to see someone fad away from being on binge diets being afraid of gaining weight, from what I gather she would do whatever to stop from herself from gaining weight, I started to worry about my own daughter at a time she wasn't wanting to eat much anything & drastically started loosing much weight & I told her that doing what she was doing would only cause here to have health problems, one day she asked me she wasn't happy with her nose I told her that she needed to stop with her awful dieting being it would ultimately disfigure her face & body, today she is doing a bit better but it worries me yet being she use to tell me she doesn't want to be fat I can say this my daughter never came close to ever looking fat at all hopefully she takes the advise from me I would only hope & pray she does I can't do no more than what I have already did.

So sad to see her like this - it seems that her marriage to that awful crook really took its toll on her illness (as well as her solo album getting cancelled). Her voice was still incredible but if only someone had gotten her help sooner....

@@leenmattar3983 . No she didn't. She died from complications due to the anorexia. She was actually getting better but her heart was too damaged from years of malnutrition

@@dddddadadad1796 YES, there was. Her own brother Richard said there was. One of her friends had said that she was basically a walking skeleton.
There was definitely padding added to her pants. They don’t look normal at all.
I haven't seen this before today. Only the original video. This is quite different to that. Karen looks good except she looks so gaunt in the face. It was only 13 months later and she was gone.

Since they decided to go with that padding in the pants, --> which is obviously bad--> she must have looked even worse without the padding.

It's not padding really. The video distorts her and makes her look normal but she was way skeletons with big boney hips as she had larger hips and no matter how much weight she lost, those hips were there....it ran in her family....if you look at other clips during this time you will see this is not the way she really looked...she looked bad!

Poor darling her eyes are hollow and so are her cheeks. That outfit tries to hide her bony frame..... so sad she didn’t accept the truth we loved her before she got sick.

I watched the Carpenters story DVD yesterday. Carol looked wonderful up until about 1976 and after that it was a decline. I think they both worked themselves into the ground touring and recording.

Poor Karen. It’s what sometimes happens when you never feel pretty or good enough. Eating disorders. BDD. I have had BDD all my life due to not feeling good enough. I started life as a blue eyed blonde and when my hair darkened I was devastated felt so ugly. The pain brunettes go thru because we never feel as beautiful as blondes!! Karen was always compared to Olivia Newton John...
Anyone can be blond anytime they want to.lol

It was the very opposite! She used drugs because she didnt want to feel hungry and eat. That's sad. She was a true diva gone too soon.
