  • Kimberly Babiarz, Research Director, Stanford Human Trafficking Data Lab, Stanford University presents a Technical Talk at the 2024 WiDS Worldwide, Stanford conference.
The Stanford Human Trafficking Data Lab is dedicated to combatting human trafficking through multidisciplinary research and data-driven policy interventions. Dr. Babiarz presents their team's research on AI-driven tools to augment the efforts of anti-trafficking labor inspectors and prosecutors. These tools include a decision support tool utilizing large language models for pre-processing tips, machine learning algorithms for enhanced inspection targeting and hotspot identification, and object detection algorithms to identify illegal work sites from satellite images. Early deployment results show significant success in supporting frontline stakeholders in the fight against human trafficking.
