There is an another thing that most people miss with Yao 5*. If you have bosses which had high enough hp (or you had low enough damage or bad enough supports) and M3 Yao, you can switch your rotation and build to do higher sustained dps less burst. With M3 you can do a rotation of only shooting the "blue" bullets of your ult so using all your skill charges. Then after that you reload with 4 "white" bullets remaining so you get a refund of 60 U-energy and your ult cooldown will soon be back up because it ticks down while the ult is active. This will require you to switch one of the substats on your logistics to S-energy because the limiting factor switches from skill charges to S-energy if you don't build it. I don't think this rotation is worth doing without her signature weapon (huge chunk of damage to first bullet after reload) but it still works. If you use this rotation Yao's sustained dps goes up dramatically, and when the boss is close to death you can keep shooting the white bullets to finish it off instead of cashing in the U-energy refund. Problem is that a lot of the neural sim bosses don't have enough hp for this rotation if you have 2 strong supports. (Especially Mauxir 5*) For weaker accounts that still require you to have a healer to survive the boss until you can kill it, this rotation will probably be an improvement against most neural sim bosses.
I calculated Yao's DPS during her ult for this video for 5 shot/reload/shot rotations. There are methods to extend her ult, like the one you detailed, but they will result in lower dps than what I listed here (but higher than just shooting out the rest of her ult) since I only looked at her peak period. I wanted to give her as favorable of a comparison as possible even though her true sustained dps would be lower since, as you said, she can keep up her peak for the duration of current content. In another video, I'll be looking at DPS graphs and may compare different Yao rotations.

Being new to this game at almost a month in I got Yao off losing 50/50 last rate up for Haru, then I got Lyfe off beginner standard. So with my selector I picked Hush. She's basically Neuvillette from Genshin lol. Sure she might be kinda weak and really only have her ult going for her, but she's fun. Just needs a lot of investment.
Fritia Hush was my first 5*, and honestly I had a really hard time struggling at the game launch having only her for quite a while until I could use a 5* selector for my Fenny Coronet. But now that I have much more resources & operatives in my roster, I'm really interested in looking back into building her properly this time :D Also, I honestly didn't expect Thebes Logis to out-dps Fenya for the Hush & Tess duo comp. How much does those Atk increase from Thebes at full stacked compared to the Ultimate dmg bonus from Fenya?
I have a whole video with the math on Fenya vs. Thebes if you want the nitty gritty, but the short version is that once you hit ~165% total damage bonus, the ATK from Thebes will contribute more than a bit more bonus DMG from Fenya. Tess is +115% DMG bonus by herself (at max), so with Lava Bones and Thebes 2pc effect you're easily over the threshold.
I've instantly picked her for the selector in chapter 5end back then. (Fenny came home on beginners) I've never really cared about the tall feminine operator's Outside of haru. (Day booty is unbeatable)
Chenxing Ethereal Cloud will do the most DPS out of this group if she consistently hits a weakpoint. Katya is right on her heels as long as the boss doesn't have multiple parts. Haru will beat both of them in AoE scenarios and against the Fiend type bosses, but won't come close in single target damage. Yao and Hush will both outdps all three of them unless the boss is Hela. Chenxing Ethereal Cloud will always have the best Hela time.
She's good when at M1+ and paired with Tess. This will consistently get you a top 5% Neural Sim score. For consistent top 1%, you'll need Tess at M3 as well. Remember, with Tess, you'll want to use Thebes logistics instead of Fenya on Hush.
She doesn't have a great 4* weapon. Without her sig, she's missing an 85% (at T2) damage bonus. But the least bad option is Strawberry Shortcake as it is at least the right element.
