He is going to be so amazed when he discovers he can use ACTION GROUPS to bind things to the keyboard and he can press G to retract the landing gear...
It's worse than that, because "G" and "B" are already mapped to Gear and Brake respectively by default. Once you put any landing gear on "G" will toggle them.
I am begging for someone to tell him about part snapping and mirroring
or once he learns about the robotic parts and that he can program entire sequences with them (recently saw a video of someone doing an entire launch just controlled by the robotic parts, personally I've just build a space shuttle with an arm that can grab satellites)
RCE immediately essentially making the Vulcan 2 is very in character for the UK Space Agency
The star destroyer at the end is meant to be used with the infinite fuel cheat option on.

The bomb was off center the whole time and it bugged me more than it should have.

You could really benefit from using action groups)
They can help you perform multiple actions mid-flight with a press of one button
(Like retracting gears, dropping bombs, opening bomb bays and many more)
Just an advice: you can press "g" to pull up Gear or let gear down
additionally you can bind things like opening the cargo doors to numbers on your keyboard

I'm more of a newcomer (picked the game up around probably decemeber 2022 or really early 2023) but I do agree, he has the spirit. Reminds me of the weird wacky contraptions I built when I first started out.

You gotta turn the authority down on the ailerons and elevators in the advanced settings, that should stop you from flipping out of control. Also putting your center of mass in front of the center of lift

Mat: makes a relatively sane aircraft and sets up the controls basically correct so that it actually kinda flies on his first attempt

Ironically his plane was flying well, he was just pushing too hard on yaw and pitch.
So excellent haha, I feel like this is the majority of my KSP experience: Building cool looking stuff in the SPH that immediately falls apart on the runway.... But I've definitely learned a lot of tips! Toggle the advanced part menu so you can autostrut and rigid-attach parts together - this really helps building a "solid" craft without parts bonking around. On that note, try to root all wing parts to a single starting part if you can - makes it so much easier to move the wing surfaces around while you adjust CoM and CoL. Speaking of, don't be shy to toggle on those overlays :) You want your CoL to be slightly behind your CoM - this helps keep the craft stable with or without SAS and gives some extra pitch-up authority. Keep your landing gear behind your CoM and you're good to go
You can go to the bottom left to view the center of mass and center of lift, if you align them it won't pitch down by itself and if it leans back slightly on the runway it will take off all by itself. Also, glad you learned to use G to retract or extend all of the gears at once. Make sure to use Q and E to roll the plane then press S when you're sufficiently banked to make turning much safer. Other people have mentioned Action Groups, I'll let you figure that one out ;)

Hey RCE, use G to toggle all your landing gear at once.
Also, right click your wings in the Space Plane hangar, and set Auto Strut to grandparent.
Thia one even better then my comment suggeating to strutt up. However, for the wonky start, I suggest he raises his plane in the SPH a tiny bit to have it start ón the runway instead of ín it...
I liked the "russian" Tupolev looking bomber, even after half of its ordonance exploded inside the bomb bay it flew like a boss.

B-69 does exist IRL. It's a modified Lockheed P-2 Neptune for the CIA covert opertions. But as far as I know it doesn't carry any Bomb or Missile.

This reminds me of an old mod for kerbal that is no longer available. Among a lot of diferent things and a full revamp of the carreer mode with a completely different science tree it had military missions where you would test bombs and other warheads by crashing them into specific parts of kerbin or other planets for money.
They where really cool and welcome change of pace and challenge. Because crashing a misile is easy. But crashing it fast enough into a 100 meter circle not so much.
Using KSP for this is the most fun. I have begun attaching missiles to my plane, then detaching it and locking it onto the main plane, then evade until I get hit or run out of fue

If I remember correctly. You can press alt+f12, which pulls up the debug menu. Which gives you some fun tools and settings to mess with, like changing gravity and other stuff. Figured it would be good for you to know.

You missed the perfect opportunity, the B1 lancer (or the B-ONE) is America’s best bomber. it’s faster than B2 Spirit, can carry more bomb load in the B-52, and the newest concept is the B1 regional (B1R) or…

The b1 is certainly an amazing aircraft (it's my favourite bomber), but it's lack of stealth does make it inferior to the b-2 (although the b-2 is not without issues either)

If I'm correct the 3 to last of the planes near the end is a stealth jet that is used by the us mainly to get detail on enemy forces... Now whether it's still used or not I'm not sure I'm also not sure of the name, as a I knew previously I forgot
The B-2 spirit or Stealth Bomber is still in service however there's only about 20 or so that have been produced and can be used for recon or for carrying explosive ordinance over long distances. The aircraft is planned on staying in service until about 2032 when they are supposed to get replaced by the B-21 Raider made by the same folks who made the B-2.

There is a mod for ksp that's a bit old and works with an older version that actually adds guns, bombs and there is even one for battleships and aircraft carriers

If you’re looking for a good mod for weapons in ksp, I’d recommend BDArmory and North Kerbin Dynamics. Procedural dynamics is good for custom wings.
Edit: B9 aerospace adds lots of good parts as well

The first one RCE made was effectively the Avro Vulcan, but slightly redesigned, and the second one was a discount SR-71 bomber conversion

The uk doesn't have any dedicated bombers or strategic bombers which is a huge disadvantage in war, I live in the us however where we have 3 dedicated strategic bombers one of which the b-52 will retire after at least 100 years of service. We also have the worlds only stealth bomber the b-2 spirit. A strategic bomber is essential for a nation for both deteerince and offensive, they are also part of the nuclear triad which I will explain, the nuclear triad is 3 things a strategic bomber, ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles ( hypersonic rockets carrying at least 5 thermonuclear bombs in one rocket)), nuclear submarines which also have ICBMs, and strategic bombers which are specifically designed (during the cold war ) to carry nukes and bombs thousands of miles away if something happens to the first 2 options. The b-52 which entered service in 1955 went on numerous operations to show their unfueled range of 8,000 nm to scare the soviets, this happened in 1956 since then the b-52 has been contusily upgraded through their service life

The b in an aircraft name (like b2 or b52) stands for bomber so you wouldn’t need to put “bomber” you would only need b-69
