Holy shit that’s so spot on about the story. I still love the game but my brain always starts to fuzz over when I remember the final boss is a mechanical jaw demon doing ninja moves with fighting sticks and they just dropped your adversary as just being under his evil demon powers. It’s such a bizarre turn that they don’t even expand on to make interesting so you just end up going “what”.
Metal Arms video when Mandy:(
Se- I mean, Mandalore, what are you doing here? Your evil twin brother made a video about Underrail. Would you make one too?
The sequel is better
What are you doing here Mandalore?
@@Oryxification the sequal improves somethings but overall I thought the first 1 was better as a horror game
Always happy to find out you didn’t kill your self, get kidnapped or get arrested for the murders we all know you commit.
You thought i wouldn't notice an upload in the middle of the night huh?... Well I'm on to your tricks guy.
You got me 😜
Congrats on 10k been here since 10k
Nice!

@@RoshDroz I think CZcams put this channel on blast this past week
Monolith releasing Condemned next to FEAR is as awesome as Disney releasing Lilo & Stitch and Treasure planet back to back. Both were never same after too.
The game is set in Metrocity, same universe as Megamind confirmed.
Fun fact, when your gun is empty, if you drop it near an enemy they will pick it up and give it a full mag. Take them and take it back and you get the full mag. This works 100% of the time and let’s you keep a gun for an entire level
I used to do that! Some wouldn't pick them up or reload but some would straight up magically spawn ammo!

How long did it take for you to just make that up?
@@onepunchman4444 apparently not as long as it took you to not actually try it
I really appreciated your thoughts about the conflict between the criminal and supernatural elements in this game. very interesting & well thought-out perspective. incredible video as always, thanks for what ya do :)
@Dam Jackass Hey be nice
@Dam Jackass hehe fair enough. that wasn't my intention, I just value grim's perspective on this kind of shit a lot and want to express that in some way, albeit less formally than it may have come across :P (maybe I'm just boring and formal, ever consider that?)
FYI, there's actually a patch for the missing audio called
"Missing sounds FIX" avaliable on the steam community forums. It fixes that subway sequence, among other issues.
you put a lot of effort into your videos and it really shows. its great and interesting to hear in-depth information about relatively obscure(?) games and their publishers/developers/etc., along with hearing your thoughts on different aspects
dumb comment, but i like how you mentioned kali, the "filipino art of stickfighting"
I'd love to see your difference of opinion on the second game, mate.
When you find a new channel and binge it like your new favorite show 🔥
A sad reminder that Monolith is relegated to the WB Lord of the Rings mines.
WB's head office is Isengard confirmed.
WB is as bad as EA with the developers it owns. Greed over making great games galore.
Sad we lost Monolith Productions. They knew how to make awesome FPS games.
@@Gruntvc
We'll never see another Condemned or F.E.A.R from Monolith :(
Well seeings as Condemned and Fear got shit after their last installments I wouldn't expect it.
there are 2 different monoliths studios
For anyone wondering: The Condemned Prequel flash game can be found on Flashpoint which has hundreds of old flash and shockwave games archived.
Man the effort in your videos is astounding, you have a charming personality and a completely underrated channel. i hope you have a great year.
Ive watched this vid like 100 times since it was uploaded while going to sleep. Love grimbeard. Please upload more.
"Just relax mix" lmao
JESUSCHRISTILOVEYOUMANDALORE - you are an awesome dude who helps support content I love. Thanks!
I heard about this video and channel from a FB group dedicated to The Body, someone pointed it out and I had to immediately look into it.
My life for Nezul.
"A watered down vague can of La Croix taste of it" literally fucking died. I would love to hear your thoughts on the sequel and your thoughts on The Sinking City
I've been rewatching this old HBO sitcom from the 90's called Dream On. It's a pretty good show but the reason I bring it up is because every now and again, the show will display old, black and white TV clips to try and convey what the main character is currently feeling. It's really charming and I'm just wondering if you took some inspiration from that show because of how you implement old TV clips into your videos. P.S. Amazing video as usual.
Oh shit... I think this did inform that in a way, but I never knew the name. My dad had it on VHS. Woah, you unlocked a door to my memory.
@@GrimBeard This probably isn't the place to ask this, but how do you feel about collabs with people. I'm a small enough channel. Only 1600 subs. I mainly play and review horror related media but I think some of my stuff is pretty decent. Anyways, my upcoming video is a half hour review of manhunt with an in depth discussion about the impact of violent videogames on young people so I thought for the hell of it I'd ask you if you wanted to say a few words in the video. Completely up to you. If you're not interested, I'll ask again when I hit 10'000 subs. :P
@@SurvivalHorror100 nah we good bro
Hey mate, just binged all of your content and I love the style, really cool to see how the character you play up has evolved over time! Also, your insight into the games you play is pretty much spot on! Keep it up!
Neat, you've mentioned this a few times IIRC, and now we get to hear you talk about it at length. Keep being awesome. Ia Grim Beard!
I just got here from my Recommendations, and I just gotta say: This video was fantastic, man! Your style, comedy, the music in the background... everything! Vid was so good I had to add it to my favourites and subscribe to ya before I'd even reached the halfway point.
It's way past the middle of the night and still you kept me hooked till the very end! I don't know why this video popped up in my Recommendations just now, but _man_ am I glad it did!
Oh, and hey, you deserve _way_ more subscribers, man!
The one that always brings me back. This was the first vid I watched by you. Definitely a classic review.
Like a lot of people, I found one of your videos by accident and then proceeded to binge your content over the last couple of days.
I dont remember at which point I subbed, only that I'm expecting great stuff from you in the future as well.
Thank you for your hard work.
Yet again, you do amazing work and a very in-depth look at one of my favourite games. Thank you!
Love your videos man, it’s obvious how passionate you are about these more obscure games and I think that really adds to the quality.
Playing the intro of this game with my best friend way back when this came out, was my favorite memory of gaming. This game has tops atmosphere!
Grimbeard bathwater when? Il buy it
Random Space Monster
I’d buy that for a dollar
Are you implying he takes baths?
First video of yours that I watched. Instant sub. Hahah you're hilarious man keep up the awesome work
Yes, please do Condemned 2. Never got to play that due to not having a console.
@Josh JeanJacket Jaeger : Fuckin accurate as hell.
First Game: Travel through the dregs of society, ends with you literally running around a house getting chased by a slasher villain (and then kung fuing a kendo demon for reasons)
Second Game: Slick new hobo combat mechanics, while traveling across the country like a spy movie for some reason, fighting spooky inky bois no one cares about, ends with you fighting a surprise antagonist you don't care about with sonic spook powers no one cares about and a cliff hanger.
Please please PLEASE release this first track that you have going during your review. I would love to listen to that on my spare time.
Please.
I love you.
The highest quality review I have ever seen about this true masterpiece. Eventhough I do not share your distaste for the integration of supernatural elements in it, I agree utterly with your analysis and boy did it remind me lots of great memories watching your footage.
One of my very favourite games, reviewed excellently by a passionate and talented fellow. Can't tell you enough how I am pleased to see such deserved homage properly paid to this gem of a game. I cannot go further not paying for your work 😑
You HAVE GOT to review the sequel. Most everybody on the internet criticizes it harshly. I know your take on it would certainly be entertaining. I have only plaid through it once and there were genuinely excellent moment and concepts in it. They did not port it on pc though. A shame. Would gladly make another playthrough.
The concept of being stuck in decrepit places with crazy people was so good on its own but it just kept going and going. The lockjaw ninjas confused me so much, especially before they tried to answer it in the sequel
The tangent about needing reassurance until you push people away hits sooo hard jesus man
Very comprehensive and enjoyable to listen. I appreciated this one a lot as this is one of my absolute favorite games
congrats on 10k subscribers, man! just saw the exact number ^^
Watching grimbeard videos at work is just the kind of high stakes gamble my soggy heart needs to keep on beating
So happy to see you cover a game that scared both me and my mom.
Completely agree about the enemies. You can feel how much they hate you. Definitely do the sequel.
Love your work and choices for what to review.
You're quite the entertaining YouTubist. I knew about this game but never knew how it plays or anything, and now I want to try it, like pretty much every one of your videos. Talented CZcamsrist indeed.
Dude I just found your channel today and I fucking love it! Keep. It. Up. You're gonna blow up I guarantee it!
What a weird, pathologically honest experience.
Wanted to say this was a very engaging review and the undertones of borderline self contempt in your (witty) writing and delivery fits very well with the game in question.
Wherever you are, I hope this small comment serves as a reminder that your work gave someone a welcome, unconventional respite from everything and you have every right to be proud of that.
I'll watch this later when I get home from work, but I'll leave a like for now. No need to watch first, your content is always an automatic like for me.
15:45 guy shows a scene from a old hentai 10/10 xD
So uh what’s the name... for research
God damn I love the first person beat em up gameplay . I used to try to play this game like an arcade game back in the day . One series I'd love to see come back but actually as a more true crime series , what you said about the story I couldn't agree more
25:34 incredible The Body reference
Hell yeah Ouran Host Club rules
That cover of the metro was great. Any chance for a full release? Thanks for the video in general. I'm always surprised how I'm never bored. Cheers.
Definitely one of the best 360 purchases I did. The organic combat and weapon durability created so much fun
I could watch you all day my guy, keep it up
Wooohoo i was waiting for this. Love this game. Its the feeling of "descending" what makes this game special to me.
The "butfuck" aside fucking got me!
Almost to 50k!
That Manhunt and Meinkampf joke just got you a subscribe
Youve come a long way in a year.
Your vids are becoming more meme-y
Thanks I think :D
a new grimbeard review for consumption
Great video as always.
Dude, I feel you so hard on the sound design and especially the combat grunts. Ethan's noises during the finishers have always stuck with me for a long time. They go a long way towards making the combat feel really satisfying, but then also kind of... Wrong..? Like, I think the combat in the game is genuinely fun, but there's something so visceral and raw about it that I was constantly reminded (other than the parts where you're... Y'know, fighting ghosts or borderline zombies and shit) that in-universe, my character was still ending another person's life.
It's so easy to get caught up in just thinking of random mook enemies in games as nothing more than that. And no, I'm not saying "GAMES ARE TOO VIOLENT, THINK OF THE CHILDREN" or honestly suggesting that we should care about the lives of some nameless digital thugs, but really think about how crazy some video game character actions would be in real life. Like your average Nathan Drake-style protagonist can quip oneliners and doesn't have any kind of PTSD or anything but by the end of each game you've committed a small-scale genocide.
IDK where I'm going with this really, I guess I just feel like it really enhances the horror element of the game that everything is so "meaty" and up-close. It's like the difference between seeing Indiana Jones shoot a nazi or seeing someone get killed by a trap in Saw - in both cases you're seeing a (usually terrible) person die in a film, and they're both oddly satisfying, but in completely different ways and with a totally different mood.
Was looking for wow classic channel, misspelled and after watching around 15 seconds, I remembered, why I liked this channel - artistism. Music is seperb, enjoyed much.
Yeeeeeey
New video, so happy right now
Its great that you actually started making videos on somewhat famous titles that i can relate to and not some f budget 20 years old adventure game
It would be even better if you would continue with this path although i do understand that would be in contrast to the main concept that you feel comfortable with
Vis a Vis - Would love to see your videos on more modern horror(or non horor) titles eg. ManHunt, Outlast, Enemy Within, Resident Evil 4+...
Your approach is just too unique so I doubt you will lose anything doing reviews for more mainstream, more modern and less niche games.
Thank you for the video once again :D
Ever86green
Pathologic 2 isn’t an f budget adventure game!
Seriously I think Grimbeard focuses on games with odd stories/mechanics behind them, so I’m not sure with Resident Evil 4 or most of the other games in the series really count as odd. Campy sure, but not really odd. Alongside that I think he goes for games that he wants to draw attention to/back to, so maybe he will review those games if he thinks they need to be remember.
Heeeeey new upload
Another great video by the best horror/supernatural/overlooked game reviewer.
I never got to try the flash game, which is sad because that game looks like it was pretty interesting to play. Condemned itself is was very much a too many ideas floating around at once, the supernatural element worked (for the most part) up until things amped up in the final boss fight. Maybe someone needed to try and ground things a bit more, or to spilt the story elements between different games.
tfw you wake up to a new Grim Beard video OwO
Didn’t expect to get a full 2 seconds of you sayin myriad 😮❤
5 minutes in and I've already woken my cat up with my laughter.
If I wake up to claw marks across my retinas, I'm holding you responsible.
Thanks for the great review (as always) but I believe it would be better, if you reviewed manhunt series (since you've mentioned it) instead of second criminal origins game
Oh thank god.
The darkness was closing in again.
Time for the other type of darkness, by game i can relate to and from the guy that probably hear more voices than me.
why are your intros are so scary, im scared to watch these vids at night damn
This channel is so underrated
I will never get tired of these witty and funny reviews. Please sit on my face. XOXO Mushroom Tip
I am... Amazingly glad someone had the same feeling when playing this game. I adored the "crime drama" feel but the writing jumped the shark at a certain point and I'm not sure if they did so in order to "up the ante" when I felt that the idea of following a serial killer's aftermath for clues already a pretty damn interesting "ante". It first felt like "Se7en the game" and I was absolutely down for that!! But I got the sense that they didn't feel the clue-hunt wouldn't be interesting enough for twitch-gamers, but adventure games prove that people can indeed stay entertained by "mere" puzzle-solving. I love puzzle-solving. And I actually had roughly the same reaction to Condemned. Mixed but overall happy.
On another note, have you ever played Evidence? I adored that game and felt it was somewhat more the game I wanted Condemned to be.
I haven't played this game since it was first released on the 360. I remember loving the weekend I spent playing, but holy fuck you you are so right with remembering the atmosphere and certain moments but not a lick of the actual narrative. Totally forgot there was a martial arts demon serial killer in the game. Typing that out makes it sound way more cool than its execution tho lol
I dig your delivery, and the jokes are cute. Subscribed.
I think I love your outtakes and scripting jokes as much, if not more, than the actual videogame reviews.
EDIT: PS: Is that your sick ass Metro cover? Noice!
Finally someone caught that!
@@GrimBeard It's a favorite song of mine by many bands XD
@@GrimBeard Also is it available somewhere? I'd love to add it to my regular musical rotation =D
Man, glad to see they finally releasead you from thar dark pit. Speaking of dark pits please try out Heart of Darkness (1998), I think you're gonna love it. Cheers mate.
totally worth the wait! good job \o/
You can still play the full version of the flash game. There is a webgame preservation project, which includes most of the flash games ever made. It's called BlueMaxima's Flashpoint.
I remember when this came out. A few chicks came over to buy weed, smoked a little, then sat on the sofa, watching me play, from the very beginning of the game, all the way till the end.
They sat and watched me play the entire game, from start to finish. It was such an enthralling game. The weed was pretty good, too, I think.
I loved this game so much it really is a one of a kind type of game. The combat is actually really deep even though you have only one attack button besides the kick and taker. The direction you're stepping in can control which way and how fast you swing your weapon and it can also sometimes control how far your reach is. You can cheese every enemy if you move a certain direction with the axe and sledgehammer Ethan will hit the enemy with the bottom of the weapon and it's a fast attack compared to the other attacks with those weapons and it does the same amount of damage as the other hits even though you're essentially just poking them with the round edge of the bottom part of the sledgehammer or axe lol.
This was one of the first games I bought when the 360 was released, and yeah the plot got pretty wild but I gotta admit it stuck with me. More than I can say for most modern games I have played..and it terrified me haha..great video my dude!
Thank you for referencing The Body, more people should listen to them
Have you played The Outer Wilds? It’s not a horror game, but it has great moments. Love your videos the channel continues to be underrated.
the audio glitch is from the Steam version. for some reason the main files became broken when moved on the Stea upload server
Beating the homeless has never been more satisfying 10/10 would beat again.
One of my favourite films is Mad Max 2, it's about a guy who has to help a besieged tribe get out of their fort with a tanker full of gasoline in post-apocalyptic Australia. He helps them, they get out and ride off into the sunset The End.
the dude in the locker waking up is the worst jump scare i've ever experienced in a game in my life
I love all the hats. I want more.
Grimbeard, you though you could fool me into rewatching your old video by changing the thumbnail? The joke's on you cuz rewatch all of your videos at least once in two month :)
Here I am again for like...fifth time?sixth?
Holy hell 16:35 hit way too close to home. Also, great game, great video \m/ \m/
hell yeah you got the body on yr relax mix
I love the review points and the comedy
Do you have the steam version? That could be the cause of certain audio issues, that release appears to have missing sound files.
Where can I stream silence of the lambs 2: alien wars?
I loved this game from start to finish great video
Great video! Can I get a link for your "just relax playlist"? That shit sounds dope.
The song featured in the example is by The Body. Not positive which song tho. I know I know it bc I recognize it but I can't put my finger on which one it is.

Technical advise for Condemned: Criminal Origins on PC:
Game has a HD texture mod that also fixed the level loading text (proper 16:9, high rez also)
Play without FSAA so you can use the soft shadows (as primitive as they are)
Game is very easy to run nowadays at 4K120, it just takes a bit to load due to the texture mod.
i fucking love your videos man
Oh boy, now I wanna hear your opinion on Condemned 2
