Frankly the combat mechanic is more logical than Amnesia or Outlast...

I explained the reason why it makes sense and is frankly less silly that humans "forfeit" every survival instinct in what passes for "survival horror"

Industrial. That's the genre, unless of course you want to be pedantic. Check out bands like Skinny Puppy or early Ministry, a couple of his songs sounded like a lost Skinny Puppy song.

I was just surprised at the number of people who did so little research before buying a game that they had no clue you pretty much just had a camera for defence.

In Fatal Frame games, pressing and holding the run button automatically makes your character run forward. So you don't need to touch the left analog stick, unless you need to walk slowly or change directions.
Or they could have just made forward walk forward like a good game where you can walk forward.

@@shaynehughes6645 Tank controls are commonly cited as bad controls. That's why they give you the option to change them in SH2 and 3, for example.
@@MrDryqula i think they mean other games have solved the issue of maintaining your course when the camera changes, and that people calling that out as "tank controls" are just wrong about what constitutes tank controls

Honestly, I think the Sixth Generation was the most interesting. Game development cost just under mad levels of money so that devs could experiment a bit more, and tech was just good enough to give us believable worlds to explore. We got some of the absolute best games. I miss it terribly.

Not that it really matters one way or another, but it is the last child to be caught in the demon tag that becomes the rope shrine maiden, as they believe that they had a stronger connection with spirits that allowed them to avoid being caught the longest, and not there natural ability to avoid a blinded and likely in pain woman who people are likely ignoring her plees for rest and/or food just for this ritual.
Ok that was a cool transition with the camera.

I remember playing this, and while in first person I saw a cute Ningyo. She turned her head to look at me. I'm already creeped out and still in first person "camera view" when I looked at an open closet. "Crashing Woman" scared the shit out of me so bad I rage quit and didn't pick the game back up for weeks afterward.

As someone who loves FPS, shooters, and action and adventure games.
I’ve really appreciated the “you’re not blasting your way out of the situation” games.
Walking simulators, story driven, games that aren’t “beat it with a stick” all that, I enjoy those a lot actually.
And I mean I am a big dumb FPS player, a survival horror lover, big dumb action fan.
I really do enjoy the less “traditional” games. New and old. I thought playing echo nights was a fever dream I had. I’m glad I’m not crazy, and people know it exists.
