Ah, a video at 3am. Goth gamer season.
Great for keeping the demons at bay for just a while longer...
Its Halloween!
@James Sunderland just... a little... longer...
In The World of Darkness universe Grimbeard has more subs than pewdiepie
pew who?
“Nihilistic software” ahhhhhh the 90’s/00’s, what a magical time.
I'm so happy that your situation has improved to the point that you're doing weird ass phone bits again, those always bring me joy. here's to many many more of those to come:)
"To thy Abyss with thee!"

Scariest thing I've heard all Halloween
I gotta be honest I love how wierd the little skits and digressions are. I can’t get that anywhere else.
You’ve got style man. This was a nice treat to wake up to in the middle of the night.
This was one of my favourite games back in the day, but my god was it flawed. Always interesting to hear other people's perspectives on it. Nice job.
Agreed. Love your videos too bruh
I think loving a flawed game makes sense, if there are redeemable aspects to it. I adore Arcanum, I played Halo Reach for years, and this game seems the kind of flawed gem with dedication behind it which one could come to enjoy and even recall fondly in spite of it's major issues. At times it's good to like crippled things.
@@kinghoodofmousekind2906 modern halo makes Reach seem like a masterpiece
@@Exigentable I still think overall Reach was a good experience ,which I enjoyed way more than Halo 3 (the game felt "rushed" to me, where as Reach's pace and ending felt better). I have gotten too old to really get involved with videogames, but I don't want Halo to die in dishonour: may Halo Infinite be a good last chapter...but, alas, I fear they will milk those rings harder than a cow. Still, the crock of the issue: we all enjoy flawed art and stuff, heck we ourselves are flawed to so many levels!, but while being critical we should not be too "cold" to things which seem to have been crafted with at least some passion and care in some regards (even if I came to understand this game failed the original pen'n'paper original and its world).
@@kinghoodofmousekind2906 for me the single player campaign of reach felt a lot better than halo 3 campaign. And the ending is sttill the peak of halo narrative
Those goddamned Gangrel.
Pls play stranglehold with Bruce
Sark is a secret goth girl
The way you integrate jokes inside your script it’s so organic, I love it. I laugh all the time.
Thank you for the great content you provide us.
Christopher following Catherine's orders pretty much without question is actually explained by in-world idea of bloodbond; any vampire who drinks the blood of another vampire becomes more and more subservient to them. First level (strong feeling, be is disgust or adoration) on the sire gained automatically on the Embrace. Catherine, clever old Bruja she is, immediately bonds Christopher the second time on his awakening, meaning he cannot really deny her orders.
Ah yeah.

Keep that halloween train coming.
You forgot Civvie 11
@@johndiaz8905 Oh yeah.
Get out of my head
I found my people
And What about Sseth? No Halloween vid? (yea we did get the Caves of Qud recentky but still)
Dude, love your content.
The music, the editing, the chuckles, all stellar. You deserve more subs and we'll be here to see you rise. Keep up the awesome stuff, hope you're doing well.
Hmm.... well, one of the things that happens in Vampire is the loss of Humanity, and the rise of The Beast. You could say his desperate desire to hold on to his love is his attempt to retain his humanity, which as a holy warrior of god you could say he had a tenuous hold on to begin with.
"The cute one with the glove" is exactly how I describe Mitsoda to people, heh. He did an interview with Noclip a while back where he was basically a walking cosplay of Dante from Devil May Cry, and it was _guhlorious_.
I watch this masterpiece of an intro more times than I should.
This game was my first introduction to the talented voice acting talent of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, who voiced Ecaterina the Wise.
I remember playing this back when I was around 12 or 13. I was so fascinated and blown away by the game, lore, and voice acting, but especially the brief venture into the Jewish Quarter to stop the golem, that for my Bar Mitzvah party I had all of the tables representing the various vampire clans each with their own symbol. My mom even hand-painted each one and on both sides of the card-stock. It was really fun telling invitee's to "sit at the Tzimisce table". I've never played the table-top, but I remain a fan on the entire VtM lore to this day.
With that said, I was never any good at this game and the combat was really unforgiving. I was always out of money, blood, and getting absolutely wrecked by enemies after the Nosferatu tunnels. There wasn't much explanation of the different stats or disciplines at the time. I would almost always play with cheats until GameFaqs came along with magic exploits and that a high charisma one could sell at a higher price which made the games slightly more playable. I also never understood how to identify weapons or items back then so I'd drink a vitae never understanding why it was hurting me or a weapon was causing me to Frenzy until I finally learned to identify and that it was diseased.
Strangely, my favorite part was as a human. I always liked doing cheats and accessing all of the human armor, weapons, and magic that is normally inaccessible that early in the game. Or spawning in a pistol and selling it to a medieval blacksmith for 37 gold! But really, as a human it was fun being slowly introduced to the VtM world from an outsiders perspective. I felt like I connected with Christof greatly during those early portions as I was just as much clueless as Christof was. I kind of wish the human segment was slightly longer so those components were more implemented other than the defunct multiplayer.
I am very excited for the fan-remake!
I was stunned when I heard her voice in Redemption, Bloodlines is my favorite game and I didnt expect it to have voice actors from it
I stopped watching your videos for a bit just because I got busy with real life shenanigans, but coming back to your videos after awhile is like getting cozied up in your favorite blanket.
Seriously, great stuff GB. Your videos are fantastic as always.
i was excited to see this in my notifications. i've been subbed since your vtmb review popped up in my recommended and i've been loving your content
Omg omg omg, are the intercut skits back. You beautiful beautiful beast. I love those so much. So disturbing and random. Truly funny stuff indeed.
Today has been absolutely packed with top tier vids
got any recs?
@@slimeprivilege Mandalore, Fredrik Knudsen, Ross' Game Dungeon
@@Nollis Hold on brother you forgot Gman and Civvie 11
@@noelienoelie8425 Yeah, those too! how could I forget
I saw this pop up in my feed and was thinking “Geez, Grim is up late”.... and then realized I can’t really say anything since I’m also watching the video at 3 AM
Damn I remembered there's a part in the Cathedral of Flesh where you can find vicissitude'd Anezka. Fucking horrifying ngl. Fuck it, I still love this game.
Good to hear things are looking up for Grim! Been looking forward to this review. Keep being amazing
"Nay... nay... NAAAYY!"
Love that embrace
Best Masquerade game for sure. If you play it on this date install Age of Darkness Mod and Neural Redemption mode/Hh textures.
still waiting for grimbeard to do a bloodrayne 2 review 😭😭😭
Abdul Al-Hazim sounds oddly familiar.
Isn't that the guy who wrote the Necronomicon?
I recently found your channel by chance. This is top tier, thanks for making this content!
"I'm damned for eternity!" "Have you tried this amulet?"
In all honesty, I'm at a really bad place rn, both mentally and in life, and 'what's up, goth gamer nation' is the only thing that keeps me going.and I'm not even a goth.i love you, man.
Hey. Hope your doing well👍
Hope ur doin better these days.
Are you better now? Hope your doing well. Hope ur doin better these days.
The relief I feel knowing you have a place to live now.
You knocked it out of the fucking park man, top tier material.
The jank in the background, the skits, the jokes, it's quality.
Perfect birthday present, wouldn't have the world go to shit any other way.
I’ve been binging this channel over the last two weeks, so glad we got more
Homie it’s too late I’m not ready for this
Somehow you always seem to upload right when i'm wondering when there's going to be another excellent Grimbeard video. Great work as always, you erudite chubby little prince of knowledge, you.
always a joy to see one of your videos pop up in notifications man, great stuff and I hope you had a great halloween.
Relatively new to the channel, currently binging all of your reviews, absolutely love your videos! A game came to my mind that would be right up your alley: Bureau 13, a bizarre little point & click adventure.
I found your channel a little over a month ago. Been binging all of your videos since. I already had a feeling you had a wide taste of music. I had to rewind the part about the the soundtrack being recorded by a power violence band by the size of the record. PV is one of my favorite genres so hearing that made my day. I also now want a Spooky game with a world setting like this one and have ambient black metal or depressive black metal playing. Can also add some funeral doom and blackened thrash for combat. basically Vampire: The Hessian Masquerade.
I have discovered your channel only two days ago and I really enjoy the longer, in-depth reviews format you've adopted in your more recent videos.
I remember playing this game back in the early 2010s and while the story wasn't much to write home about, the gameplay always stood out to me despite its glaring flaws of trying to emulate Diablo but with a party of characters. It felt refreshing to discover an old game that offered so much freedom while playing as a vampire, whereas so many more modern games use such characters to impose heavy, often unfunny, restrictions on the player's enjoyment or to coax you into specific traversal mini-games that make you feel pathetically underpowered. It was very easy to take advantage of some exploits involving blood enhancing accessories, as well as accumulating all sorts of Disciplines, which the game treats as basic RPG spells in complete contrast with the setting's clan specific abilities, utterly obliterating any sense of challenge.
It's certainly unbalanced and tedious at times, and the modern portion of the setting was pretty underwhelming in comparison to Medieval Prague, yet it managed to leave me both satisfied and craving more such different experiences at the same time.
This the second game I even played online back in 2000 (Delta Force 2 the first) ....Gosh, so many hours sitting in Vienna Orsi room, just pretty much a glorified chat room, and duels and getting characters perma-staked O.o. Met my wife of 19 years in that game :-)
So glad to see you have a table again
First ever video where i skipped the spoiler section. I remember playing this game for a bit back when i was barely able to read, let alone speak english. Finally found it, thanks to you!
Your writing for video essays and sarcastic film comedy is right up my alley. Consider me a new subscriber.
I was screaming when you played that song from Queen of the Damned, I was struck with such a wave of nostalgia. Also "Big Windy Apple" was so funny! I also think they were really expecting the multiplayer/DM function to carry the product.
Your videos are always the great, appreciate you
Got to love any series that has more bloodsuckers than Harvard Law School.
Now you taught me a primus fact I wasn't aware of. Thanks for that your videos are the best. Love to run into you in a spooky club
I just wanted to apologize for binging your videos for the past week and consistently forgetting to hit the like button 😅
Dude, how do you not have a million subs by now?
Thank you for the awesome content, and I do hope this channel gets the love it deserves.
Also, stay alive, and if you ever find yourself in Montenegro (which I don't know why anyone would want to do), beer is on me.
Cheers!
I've played this game before Bloodlines was a thing, and at that time I was still discovering my teenage gothic personality. Needless to say, this game fitted like a glove in my life, besides its flaws.
Even today, with my boring adult life, I get back to Redemption from time to time as if it was my birth place.
Having only recently become a VM: Bloodlines fan, I am pretty sad that the long awaited sequel already seems poisoned at this point.
Yeah, not optimistic here either. Welp.
My lord it don't look good now either
What's wrong with it?
Same boat. Finally got to playing VtM:B this week and it quickly became one of my favorites but now I'm left with a lot of worry for the sequel.
@@cal5750 Sadly, this is everything nowadays. Makes me wish my favorite IPs like witcher just die off and people forget so they don't butcher every game with political, and cash grab crap. I think the VtM sequel - if it ever comes out - will be just that.
Until this day I remember this game and in my head there's this phrase "to the abyss with thee!"
This came out right before I had to go to bed for work tomorrow, fuckin still watching ♥️
One of the greatest triumphs of the Masquerade was, after finding out that their clan name was coincidentally a Spanish word, manipulating humanity into mispronouncing brujah.
EDIT: There are two types of playthroughs that I do of this game. The first is where I give everyone in my party a ranged weapon & use a cheat command for infinite ammo to keep them out of my way, and the second is where I do the same thing, but got the good RNG with the first vendor having blessed plate mail.
EDIT EDIT: Oh, sweet! The Steam version is marked down to $2.99 for the Halloween sale!
Im so glad I awoke in the middle of a night mare so I could watch this!
"Jude, the patron saint of lost causes" really tickled me pink for some reason :'D
Oh I've been waiting for someone to make a decent review of this game
the fact that you made what might be the only joke about the length of powerviolence records ive ever heard on youtube is exactly why i love your content so much
Great review buddy! Will definitely keep on gamin, heck I might even pick this one up just out of curiosity.
I thought I was losing my mind because some concept art had guns and shit on it about this game in medieval Europe but I get it now I guess.
Also, you're fucking great bucko!
Love your work.
Take my like for the video and my respect for the nail polish. Fabulous.
nail-polish :) ...i don't understand why a game with a big part of plot occurring in Prague would use Polish spelling.
Yay!! New vid!
This was a game that got me into VtM/Storyteller as a RPG system. I still have Ardan Chantry music on my playlist.
the sight of the ami foil sticker on that goth gamer rig puts me at ease yet again.
Always wondered about this game since I'm a big fan of Bloodlines, and this video pretty much answered all of my questions. Cheers :)
Hell yeah, some sweet halloween vampire dude action Review!
love your nail polish!! 💜
Man i love your videos, im new here. I wanted to ask a list of the game that you show in your intro, a lot look interesting. Keep the good work
Hell yeah, thank you so much. Been waiting for you to do this one. \m/
I stopped editing my review of American Mcgee's Alice in order to watch this. Hope I can get it done by tomorrow 😬😬😬
“Keep on.. gaming” made me giggle
That comment about Blizzard at the end of the Star Craft Ghost bit won you my sub and like.
THE RETURN OF THE PHONE!!
BLESSED IS THIS DAY....HALLOWEEN BE PRAISED!!
New favorite background noise, plus ya got some good game speak 👴🏿subbed
I absolutely loved this game when I bought this and played it when I was 13. My computer at the time couldn't run shit so I settled on picking this up thinking I might as well pick up something older and was very very pleasantly surprised. Could you possibly check out the 1st person shooter/vehicular combat game called Redline. I played Redline and Nocturne around the same time as this and it blew my mind. You would love it!
Wakes up in the middle of the night. First random thought: "to the abyss with thee!"
I adored this game back in the day and spent a lot of time just reading the lore in the manual.
You're alive!
Ah, yes, an excellent nighttime surprise, thank you, Lord Grim Beard. May you and all of the Goth Gamer Nation(tm) have an eerie and resplendent Halloween!
I’ll never forget the first video I watched from you, condemned criminal origins - thank u goth gamer
Happy Halloween grim!
Lmao! That jab at Salt Factory had me rolling.
God I can’t believe how much i love ya dude, goth gamer temptation
I once tried this game, and couldn't get past one of the first boss, since he always killed me no matter what. I guess I didn't miss that much really. Great Video anyways! Happy to see you have somewhere to live again.
Haha, this random German Game Journalist you show at 33:08 runs my favorite Gaming Podcast :D :D lots of love for this random inclusion :D
there was some magic katana in the dark ages which would leech blood from victims on hit and had a crazy hich decapitation chance. if you had it on you when you got burried, you took it iwth you to 1999. changed the game a lot and made combat mostly trivial, also gave access to pretty much any ability without efford.
Is there a reason you *wouldnt* bring that sword with you? Lol
Besides obviously missing it of course
Great video love the world of darkness and wish there was more good video games out there for it
I really loved this game! Still play it from time to time. It has a lot of things going for it.
I loved the commentary this video has
have a good and safe halloween goth gamer grimbeard
Vukodlak means Werewolf in Serbian
But he's not a werewolf.
In Slavic, not just Serbian.
Why would... Maybe they meant to name him Vurdalak? It literally means Vampire.
@@Maggerama Yeah probably
Waited for and played this game at release in 2000. Great story and you’ll learn a lot of new words.
I just saw the video in my recommended and thought " finally some love for my boy."
Know this came out 8 months after Ultima 9: Ascension and it's so much better in every way. Keep up the great vids.
those club dancer moves though..... lmao
I remember this game. Poor Serena.
*chef's kiss*
Spoopy
Thanks man, you completely ruined my childhood nostalgia for this game, remembering me that it was total mess to play. You made me stronger. Love ❤
I grew up loving this game but I have not touched it in like 15 years, this video has been a weird nostalgia trip.
One of your patrons is named "A Hanging Chad" in reference to Bush/Gore 2000. A harrowing omen of events to come next week.
